I mourned his passing. Great songs, I still listen to. His mistake with his aircraft, a Long EZ experimental, was something every pilot knows not to do.( no fuel ).
I think his age, and diminished capacity at the time contributed.
He also got caught up in the typical Sins of Success performers all face.
I know it’s not Jesse Belle’s fault, and John loved her like he loved all his children, BUT John had been sterile ALL throughout his marriage to Annie, the Love of His Life. They were married for a long time. John wrote in his biography how Cassandra Delaney, his second wife, “made a fool of me from one end of the valley to the other.” All of a sudden, after being sterile for ALL of his life, he marries Cassandra and about 9 months later she gives birth to Jesse Belle, who looks NOTHING like him, BUT bears a STRONG resemblance to Cassandra Delaney, her mother. John had said in his biography that Cassandra Delaney was manipulative and he KNEW it, but went along with it anyway. The marriage was very short lived. He said in interviews that it was a very contentious divorce. However, with Annie, they maintained a very loving and good relationship post divorce, right up to his death. It was Annie that became the Executrix of his estate and equally distributed John’s assets to each of his three children.

It would be heartbreaking to find out Jessie Belle was not his biological child.
Jesse Bell IS John Denver's biological child so why the hypothetical? And why should it be "heartbreaking" to you if she wasn't?
