    Kirishima isn't really as dumb as some people would think. He has moments of showing that he is aware of people's weaknesses and strengths. He predicted Sero winning the race in the maze, and figured out Tokoyami's weakness while other people thought Bakugou was just more powerful. However he said in the first season that ambushes are unmanly, so flanking Cementoss is something he would have too much pride to do. I wish MHA addressed this flaw of his more. I think it would be cool if during the forest arc he tried fighting Dabi head on instead of flanking him, and then getting destroyed. It would hit him hard emotionally since Dabi was the reason Bakugou was captured in the last second

    Uraraka's win was terrible. It basically relied on thirteen not wanting to hurt them. A concept that undermined the concept of the test. Even worse, it wasn't even a plan, but rather a happy accident

      While I'm also an anime-only watcher, I believe I have an idea for why Sero was given a failing grade:
      1: While Sero did ensure Mineta could escape, Mineta could have gotten away even without his help. He's decently mobile, and is very good at running away.
      2: While using Sero's tape as a gas mask was a creative utilization of his quirk, he had no input whatsoever in the idea. It was all Mineta's idea, and he thought of it after Sero was already incapacitated. Also, the tape used for Mineta's mask was initially used to let him escape, which made the mask plan an improvisation on Mineta's part, rather than a strategy created by the two.
      3: Sero didn't make any attempt to cancel out Midnight's quirk. He seemed to give up for... Reasons. The very same reasons he was meant to overcome during the exam.
      One or more of those factors likely caused Sero to fail, even though Mineta passed their test with him.

      FoneyBone1 Because in a fight with a real villain being knocked out means death

  • @LoganWH8
    @LoganWH8 6 лет назад +311

    I agree on all of these except Midnight’s test. Firstly, Sero isn’t a perv. He called Mineta out on being a perv and called him a scumbag for it. Kaminari is the other horn dog. Also The seduction aspect of Midnight wasn’t a major part of the test. What was being tested is that both Mineta and Sero are mid to long ranged fighters, while Midnight is most powerful in close range. She remained hidden in close proximity to the exit, Sero and Mineta’s destination, so that she could force a close range confrontation. The key to success was exactly what Sero did, react quickly and get one or both of them away from Midnight immediately, and because Sero’s (super awesome looking) helmet blocked Midnight’s gas, but Mineta’s cowl didn’t, Midnight targeted Sero first because he was the bigger threat, and Sero put saving Mineta before escaping himself because Mineta was in more danger. Sero wasn’t moments from losing consciousness when he saved Mineta, he assumed Midnight was going after the unprotected target first. Mineta also didn’t plan to trap Midnight far from the gate beforehand, he genuinely was running away and crying until Midnight found him again and his fight or die instincts kicked it

    • @blasttrash
      @blasttrash 6 лет назад +14

      @xmoore5659 5 лет назад +6

      I mean it does make some sense since Toru and Shoji have mutant type quirks with no range. Pairing them up against a quirk with massive range puts them at a massive disadvantage. Granted, unless Snipe's visor is capable of picking up on heat signatures his abilities would be completely useless against Toru once she takes off he clothes.

    • @hopethornhill3905
      @hopethornhill3905 5 лет назад +1

      I think it's because they're both close-range stealth/re-con types. Snipe's astounding accuracy with his bullets makes stealth difficult. The two of them would have failed if they tried to just stealth their way to the exit gate, since Snipe was on them from the beginning.
      So, by Shoji doing the ballsy thing and stepping out into the open, feigning that he was bringing the fight to Snipe, it gave Hagakure the opportunity to use her stealth while Snipe was distracted. I mean, it isn't perfect but it makes more sense than Uraraka and Aoyama's bare pass.

    Deku didn't cripple All Might. There's no way a 5% punch would do anything. Time just ran out for him.

    • @MylesJacobSwie
      @MylesJacobSwie 7 лет назад +66

      I mean he didn't directly cripple him, but you also have to take into consideration that All Might's One For All time limit seems to be based upon the stress put onto his body. He's normally able to go for up to three hours, and yet he fought Nobu for barely five minutes and ran out of time, though yes it was after he'd already been at it for a little while, but still. Therefore you can assume that taking a hard hit when his will to win already wasn't at it's highest could push him over the tipping point, thus Deku's "Smash" may have in fact "crippled" him in the end.
      Also it's worth noting that Deku uses "Smash" as a sort of signature move, which is why he refers to his hits in Full Cowling as, well, "Full Cowling". So it's not too much of a stretch to assume that in his one punch of One For All, he went beyond his 5% threshold.

    • @beenu9414
      @beenu9414 7 лет назад +46

      Bruh All Might literally said "You really hit me with everything you had". While I don't think it crippled him, I'm pretty sure it was more than 5%.

      He used smash on Stain, it was at 5%. Bakugo's blasts sent All Might flying multiple times. Deku's punch just got him to turn his head a bit..
      I think AM power lasts less than 3 hours now after the fight with Nomu. I'm pretty sure he said it soemwhere but I might be wrong.

      No Deku used more than 5% against stain, I believe Gran Torino even commented on the fact that he got another stress fracture on his hand because of that.

    • @artstsym
      @artstsym 6 лет назад +23

      Deku used 5% or more. All Might was not crippled. After seeing Deku able to bring serious force against an opponent (even the object of his greatest respect) in order to overcome, he allowed the two to pass. All Might's was the only literally impossible fight by the metric of physical and quirk capabilities.
      Also, while his time limit was nearly up, so was the boys', and he could (and would) push himself further to force this growth out of Deku.

    A few corrections
    A, All Might was not crippled by Midoriya's punch, not even close. His time limit was up, meaning he was unable to stop Midoriya from winning.
    B, Snipe's quirk does *not* allow him to see through smoke or see invisible people. It allows him to change a bullet's trajectory mid-air. Meaning, it takes him actually focusing on the firing, and doesn't mean he can hit invisible enemies unless he knows where they are or gets lucky
    C, Nezu's one open path was not, as you say, random. Nezu makes it clear time and time again in the fight that there is some logic behind the one path left open, as he says they just need to think about it to find it.

      The Chucklehut the snipe fight made some sense. His eye sight might be incredible but it does have limitations, the smoke, invisibility, and the fact isn't aware of his surroundings nor is he good at sensing. He rellies too much on his sight. Once she took off her clothes, he lost sight of her. All that was left was to have the hero's attention and for him to lower his guard, because if not, he would have been able to tell through the distortion of the smoke.

      Uraraka and Aoyama should have had an alternate way of winning.
      Knowing that they couldn't take Thirteen on in a head on if she were a real villain, they should have tried to escape.
      How could one hope to escape a black hole? Well one would have to nullify gravity to escape a black hole.
      Wait what does Uraraka do? She nullifies gravity.
      But nullifying gravity isn't enough, you also need a way to direct your movements to get away.
      If only someone had a way to propel themselves. Oh wait, Aoyama does.
      So the obvious solution would be to have Uraraka risk throwing up to make herself and Aoyama weightless, and have Aoyama propel them to the exit.

    I don't think Yaoyorozu and Tsu were paired based on weaknesses, unlike the others. Rather, the opposite. Yaoyorozu is a perfect match for Eraserhead, with her Quirk being best pre-fight. Eraserhead negating her Quirk mid-battle does sod all, hell, it might help her. She lost against Tokoyami because she was too focused on her Quirk and not enough on the actual battle - erasing her Quirk prevents that.
    No, I think if the teachers were really trying to beat them, Yaoyorozu would be with Ectoplasm and Tsu with Eraserhead. Tsu relies on two things - her Quirk and the mobility it gives her. I don't know how much of Tsu's Quirk Eraserhead can deal with, but he can definitely outclass her mobility with his magic bandages. Meanwhile, Yaoyorozu sucks at dealing with pressure and constant threat - precisely what Ectoplasm represents.
    So why pair them like that? Because Yaoyorozu needed to win. Not from a meta, fan perspective - but because she'd lost all confidence after Tokoyami. Pairing her with Ectoplasm would reinforce how useless she felt, locking her down and preventing her from ever realising her insane potential. Pairing her with Eraserhead let her realise how strong she really was, and that's what she needed to improve. The others needed their weaknesses brutally underlined, Yaoyorozu needed to be reminded of her strengths. And after her fight with Innsmouth, Tsu won't get anything more out of being outclassed mobility wise, so might as well let her help three of the most promising students (Tokoyami, Todoroki, Yaoyorozu) reach their full potential.

    • @carlossantana9645
      @carlossantana9645 7 лет назад +41

      Tsu against Eraserhead would have been an interesting match since both rely on high mobility and some kind of wrapping tool (his scarf and her tongue). However, I don't think Eraserhead would have had it easy against both Tsu and Todoroki.
      Erasure doesn't work on mutant type quirks like Tsu's. Add to that the weights he was carrying and things start to look bad for him. He would have to decide between chasing Tsu around with his decreased mobility while risking Todoroki overpowering him or focus on Todoroki and then try to catch on to Tsu before she scapes.
      While I think he still has the skill to win, it defeates the whole point of the exam if the teacher is the one having to push himself the most.

    • @Dracinard
      @Dracinard 7 лет назад +15

      Carlos Santana Good point. I wasn't sure if Tsu's strength and mobility were from her physical mutation, meaning Eraserhead can't do anything, or from another source, meaning he could. But only the Nomus and All for One have multiple Quirks, so it must be from the mutation, so Eraserhead wouldn't be able to negate Tsu. He'd still win, I'm sure, but it wouldn't be preying on her weaknesses.
      Alright, Tsu with Ojiro against Power Loader, Iida with Todoroki and Yaoyorozu with Tokoyami. Iida doesn't really rely on mobility the same way as Ojiro - Ojiro seems to jump around and dodge opponents, while Iida just runs at them and kicks them in the face. Tsu does rely on mobility the same way as Ojiro, though, so she'd be pretty screwed against Power Loader. Iida definitely relies on his Quirk too much, with every fight of his after the cavalry battle boiling down to "Reciproburst and pray", so Eraserhead would be a good match. I know there is a physical mutation with Iida, but I feel like Eraserhead would be able to prevent him turning his engine on. And Yaoyorozu I've already talked about.

    • @michaelbesser4984
      @michaelbesser4984 7 лет назад +28

      I like the Yaoyorozu and Todaroki pairing because, while her quirk is best used pre-fight, the pairing was exploiting her inferiority she was feeling after the sports festival. The way the pair was able to beat Eraserhead is through Yaoyorozu carrying them to victory, but if Todaroki took the lead, they were pretty much doomed to fail. This pairing is kinda like the Bakugo and Deku pairing. They were put together entirely because their teamwork is downright awful. While Yaoyorozu and Todaroki don't hate each other, Todaroki is pretty much always the commander and Yaoyorozu is the follower. Yaoyorozu learned to be confident in himself and Todaroki learned that he isn't always right.

      The reason she was paired with eraserhead is exactly what you said, her self-confidence. With her quirk gone, she would lose her self-confidence too. That was her biggest weakness and thus what she needed to overcome. So the teacher pairing actually makes perfect sense

    Honestly, I think you missed something about Deku and Bakugo vs All Might. The thing is, not only did they need to team up, but they needed to compromise strategies also. Bakugo wanted to fight All Might, which is, as you would imagine, an incredibly dumb strategy. All Might can punch you from the other end of a city using brute force alone. You can't really hope to beat him 1 on 1 or even 2 on 1. If Deku and Bakugo decided to fight All Might only and not even try for the Escape Gate, they would have lost.
    Running from All Might wouldn't have worked either. All Might is ridiculously fast, so your standard running speed just won't cut it. If Deku and Bakugo tried to run and hide, All Might would have found them eventually. And, as mentioned previously, fighting All Might won't end well.
    So, how exactly would these two win? Do both at once. Thanks to his powers fading and his injuries at USJ, he doesn't take attacks as well as he used to. Granted, beating him in a fight still isn't an option, but attacking him does at least stun him long enough to get some distance before repeating when All Might eventually catches up. Essentially, escaping from All Might is an option for heavy hitters like Bakugo and Deku because they can hit hard enough to get All Might to start coughing up blood and book it in the meantime. To compare this to a video game, imagine All Might to be a boss with a frankly rediculous attack, defense, speed, and health, but can be crowd controlled like no tomorrow. Essentially keep stunning him and inching towards the escape gate.

    My question though is what Uraraka and Aoyama should've done. Their win was ultimately a slip up. Had Thirteen been a real villain, she would've sucked Uraraka into the black hole and killed her. Obviously she wouldn't do that, but still her reaction was one of a hero, not a villain, and the teachers were supposed to be villains during the test. One could say that Uraraka and Aoyama were exploiting the weakness they'd noticed, which is a valid strategy, but they really just got lucky. So what should they have done to win? Thirteen has such an overwhelming quirk, I have no idea what the teachers were planning for them.

      Thinking about it, they could have tried splitting up. Aoyama could have used his quirk to start to "orbit" 13 (assuming he wasn't already in the "Event Horizon" and could do so safely), while Uraraka went in for the capture or tried to escape. Of course, this is assuming 13 can only have 1 finger vacuum up at once. Another possibility is that Uraraka's quirk is actually a pretty strong counter to 13's, depending on how Black Hole and Zero Gravity work; Tagging Aoyama with 0g would mean that a black hole that works by being supermassive and having a ton of gravity wouldn't affect him, and he'd be able to just rocket out of there with only the force of the wind resistance to worry about.

    • @FrostedMike
      @FrostedMike 5 лет назад +4

      Considering the way they were suppose to defeat Thirteen was being stealthy and catch her by surprise, I think it's a good match up:
      Uraraka will only "feed" Thirteen is she uses her quirk.
      Aoyama likes to be flashy and visible, which is something he was probubly suppose to overcome. Being flashy like that will fail a stealth mission.
      I don't know what would happen if Uraraka used her quirk on Thirteen, but it seems like another option to defeat her.
      My theory is that the only reason they passed is because Uraraka had the right reflex after losing focus and pulled to Thirteen, exploiting Thirteen's personality and attack. Aoyama passed because he saw the opportunity to help Uraraka and overwhelm Thirteen. Exploiting Thirteen's moment when she broke character wasn't how they were suppose to win, but it's a valid win if they were to face real threat and the enemy cought off guard from something stupid.
      This is why they passed, but just barely.

    Adding to your points, here's what TV Tropes says
    "The Final Exam matchups were deliberately put together to force students to confront the Logical Weakness in both their Quirks and ways of thinking.
    Kaminari and Mina are put together at the End Of Term against Nedzu. The reason why they failed was simple: The two Book Dumb characters of Class 1-A were put together to fight against a character with an Intelligence Enhancing Quirk and from the looks of the battle, it's clear they weren't even able to understand that the point of the test was outsmarting Nedzu, rather than fighting him. It was obvious they wouldn't pass, because they didn't even get the assignment.
    Kirishima and Satou both have Quirks that increase their physical strength and body but run on a timer of sorts, with Kirishima being more of a Stone Wall fighter, and Satou being a Lightning Bruiser who loses his intelligence due to the sugar he eats. Their opponent was Cementoss, whose Quirk allows him to manipulate concrete and cement. Cementoss used his power to create barriers that were easily replaceable, forcing Kirishima and Satou's frontal assault into a battle of attrition that neither could win due to their time limits. The idea behind their fight was to prod them into fighting tactically rather than going When All You Have Is a Hammer... and having Cementoss hard counter them. And while Satou has an excuse in that his power makes him think less clearly, Kirishima does not and could have at least tried to create a strategy for himself and his partner to follow.
    Tsuyu has a Weak, but Skilled Quirk that gives her all the powers of a regular frog, just for a human to use. Tokoyami has a Unskilled, but Strong Quirk that has a lot of raw power to it, but very little control over. The entire point was to show Tokoyami that Quirk's are not always needed to fight and can be supportive, while Tsuyu is pushed to play the support role to someone whose Quirk doesn't have good synergy with her. Naturally their opponent is Ectoplasm, whose Quirk can create copies of himself that, while weak, can still close the gap and get into close combat with the Fragile Speedster and the Squishy Wizard, plus he can make larger copies that are more powerful than the others. His Quirk allows him to be both Weak, but Skilled, and Unskilled, but Strong at the same time, forcing both students to learn when offensive power is important, and also show when supportive power is needed.
    Toru and Shouji both possess utility quirks that are a great help with intelligence gathering and stealth, but don't give them much direct combat strength. Naturally they fight Snipe, a hero whose Quirk is the ability to manipulate the trajectory of his bullets, allowing him to both be strategic, and offensive at the same time. Since neither Toru or Shouji can hope to win in a fight against him, they both have to use their Quirk's ability to be strategic to outsmart Snipe. Notable their plan works because early on, Toru stayed close to Shouji, allowing Snipe to keep track of the two because Toru couldn't really well separated from Shouji, but because Shouji created a distraction, Toru was able to sneak around and nab him.
    Iida and Ojiro both have Quirks that increase their physical mobility and strength, so naturally they fight Power Loader, whose tunneling Quirk negates the biggest strength both of them have. Iida is faster than Ojiro but his movement is more rigid and mostly in a straight line, which means he cannot run across the battlefield because he'd fall into a pit. Meanwhile Ojiro isn't as fast as Iida, but he has better mobility when it comes to dodging and isn't limited by one direction. At the same time, he can't move fast enough to the exit since Power Loader is tunneling too fast for him. Naturally the strategy they use to win is to use Iida's speed advantage to move Ojiro in such a way where he gets enough of an advantage to move quicker to the exit, which works out in the end.
    Kouda and Jiro is a bit more straightforward, as both are sound based Quirk users, so they fight Present Mic. Kouda's Quirk allows him to speak to animals while Jiro can use her headphone earlobes and heartbeat to create blasts of sound that are very powerful. The entire point of the test was not to see if Jiro was strong or weak, but more to see if Jiro could get Kouda to break out of his shell and use his Quirk without his shyness getting in the way of the situation. Present Mic could easily negate Jiro's Quirk and any of Kouda's weaker attempts at using his Quirk, so pushing him to be loud was the only way to win, and Jiro managing to do so is how they succeeded.
    Uraraka and Aoyama are put against 13, which seems weird at first, but their Quirks are easy for 13 to counter. Aoyama needs to stand still for a moment to fire his navel laser while Uraraka needs to physically touch something to manipulate its gravity. By trying to suck them up, 13 makes it too difficult for them to do either and pushes them to try and find ways to get around it. Its worth noting that Aizawa says in the next arc they barely passed, which makes sense as the only reason they passed was Aoyama bringing up Uraraka potentially crushing on Midoriya, causing her to let go in surprise and 13 to cut off their Quirk of fear for the students' safety, allowing Uraraka a completely accidental opening to get the cuffs on them. Another aspect that is not used in the story was that both have Quirks that cause them illness, so its possible the goal was to have them somehow beat 13 before they overtaxed themselves.
    Sero's Quirk allows him to make tape, while Mineta can make sticky balls. Since neither of them have Quirks outright designed for actual combat, Midnight, whose Quirk isn't suited for combat, makes logical sense. Furthermore personality wise, Mineta is a pervert who gets Distracted by the Sexy, while Sero is the Generic Guy who has on multiple occasions called out Mineta on his perverted behavior. Naturally Ms. Fanservice Midnight is the best opponent for the two since if the two can pass, it proves they have matured. Sero and Mineta also fight mostly by immobilizing their opponent, which won't mean much to Midnight because she doesn't have to move to activate her Quirk, and can just stay by the entrance and use her Knockout Gas against anyone who comes too close.
    Todoroki and Yaoyorozu are matched against Aizawa because both of them have Quirks that are so powerful and versatile that both tend to depend on them above direct combat. Aizawa presents an opponent who can rob them of their greatest strengths and easily overcome them both in physical combat and mobility. To defeat or escape him, the two would have to use their Quirks in more creative manners and use each other's abilities to their fullest. In addition, because of the nature Yaoyorozu's Quirk, they just needed a moment to devise a counter to Aizawa and they would be able to win before the battle even began, as even if their Quirks were erased, Yaoyorozu's items would still be there for her to use.
    Midoriya and Bakugo were paired against All Might to help fix their personal issues. Bakugo is Strong and Skilled with his only real flaws being his Pride uncontrollable temper. Midoriya's strong, but he also has a tendency to avoid direct confrontation and is a bit of an Extreme Doormat to Bakugo. All Might is strong enough that neither can defeat him on their own, and (as Bakugo points out) fast enough that they can't just escape without fighting him. If Bakugo continued to abuse Midoriya and refuse to work with him, and if Midoriya kept retreating and refused to stand up to Bakugo, then they would be easy prey for All Might. Their powers (which are actually fairly good all-around) were a bit of an afterthought, but considering that they're the two most well-rounded and powerful students in the class, it made sense to pair them with a very well-rounded and powerful hero, especially considering that All Might is likely the only teacher who could have stood up to a full-force attack from the two of them anyway (barring Aizawa erasing one of their quirks, which would leave him open to the other)."

    I just realized about todoroki, but when he talks about spontaneous activation of his quirk, and that by due to this he can dramatically increase his flexibility while using his entire quirk always. When you look at Endeaver, with his fire beard and cool costume, and even at home, having his mustache. This may look like he’s just kind of flexing, but he’s consistently training his quirk to be, however slightly, more flexible in its usage. If todoroki can obtain this kind of control, imagine how overwhelmingly powerful he would be. It just kind of becomes (as a villain) “oh god I hope Shoto doesn’t show up. “The teachers really are not teaching for their to be one greatest hero. When you look at todoroki in this way, you realize the he will also become the greatest hero. These kids all have the potential to become the greatest they can be. We see this often in how they learn. Especially in the manga.

      All of the colleges I looked into when I was picking my college had 2 main semesters (fall and spring) and then half semesters in the winter and summer for special classes and certain standard classes that normally run out of room, but those semesters are extra and do not affect whether or not a student counts as full time. For that the student has to be taking a minimum number of credits during a main semester and normally need to be full time on both main main semester to be listed as full time on documents.
      Basically, I'm saying that for US colleges the semesters outside of Fall and Spring are closer to summer school for US middle & high schoolers in that they are supplementary and aren't required to be a full time student.

    Very good video. Just when you think you have understood everything, someone shows you that the anime beholds even more subprogress.
    But I want to set something straight ever since the series clamed it and now that you stated it, I feel the need to talk about it. It's about what was told about koda's and jiro's fight, that sound doesn't travel through the ground.
    In fact the ground in general is the best conducter for sound, because in solid state the atoms are very close together and are connected by a lot of forcefields, which conducts the soundwave. fluids generally conduct the sound better than gas as well, because they have a higher density.
    American natives even held their ears on railways to hear if a train was aproaching before being able to see or hear it (that's the best example I could think of for now).
    Just wanted to get this thought out of my head, thanks for having an open ear youtube :).

    • @charglie
      @charglie  7 лет назад +4

      Yeah that was a mental lapse in script writing on my behalf.
      However, the point that Present Mic's sound would not travel towards Jiro and Koda still stands. This would be because when a wave, like a sound wave, changes mediums, it bends according to the refractive index. When switching between mediums with low ---> high refractive index, the waves bend towards the normal line. This would mean that sound coming from Present mic going into the ground would bend to go almost directly down beneath him, allowing the bugs a greater window of time to attack from the sides, given that he wasn't constantly shouting.
      Regardless, whoops lol

      You're right. You can see the same effect when light shines through water. Refraction is basicly the same thing.
      Just so you know, the comment wasn't amining against your interpretation, which is definetly valid in my eyes, especially after you gave this brilliant explanation, but rather on the statement itself made by the anime dub (I guess the sub too). I realized why Mineta and Sero got matched with Midnight now. It's not really because of their pervy attitudes and Midnight's appearance (though can be considered as a part of it). It's actually quirk-wise, those two use their quirks by either trapping or disabling their opponents, and then Midnight is a hero who has a quirk not really relying on movements. She can be a threat by just being there and her whip only made it harder since now she really didn't need to walk even by just a little. This is why Mineta called his match unfair (well, as you said, it is meant to be unfair for everyone). But the moment the unfair part of the test was gone, Mineta immediately saw this chance and didn't waste it, and I'd say he did it very gracefully and Deku-like. Ya know, the quirks of MHA have inspired me to sortof make my own little OC. No fanfic to shoehorn him into the main series, but rather a vessel I made to see how to make an OP power feel earned.
    This character, which I call Zeke, has the power to absorb electricity, store it, and release it either as physical enhancements or controlled shocks. The drawback and root of all his failings comes from the fact that when Zeke has a charge, his body becomes electricity, meaning he can "dissolve" in conductive substances without incredibly concentration. By the time Zeke would enter the academy, he would've figured out how to interact with solid objects just fine and even prefers using electrical lines to travel, but failed one of his entrance exams because it took place in the ocean, where he would die if he used his quirk. Batteries are also a recurring issue for him, since he can enter and exit batteries when a current is flowing through them, but can get trapped if the current is cut while he's inside.
    Zeke also has to put forth a crap load of effort into not instantly killing anyone he touches, turning what would result in a complete shutdown of the nervous system into a zap equivalent to that of a taser. This fact has always been a thorn in his desire to become a hero since, well, how can you carry a dying civilian to safety if so much as touching them will risk shutting down their entire nervous system?
    However, those issues pale in comparison to Zeke's attitude towards his quirk, purposefully limiting it in fear of accidentally hurting himself or others. Like, imagine if you had a machine gun, but were too afraid of misfires to use automatic fire. Yeah it's definitely the safest option, but not the best when you need to eliminate a target. The real problem is discipline.
    Zeke's whole arc would revolve around him figuring out how to better control this major weakness. Firstly he'd train on getting stable, since potentially dissolving in water and killing friendlies is definitely a high priority issue, but at the same time he'd learn to turn this weakness into a major advantage. When your whole body is energy, you're basically a shapeshifter; wounds don't do anything, normal anatomical limitations are thrown out the window, and overall his road to success comes from recognizing that his quirk is OP.
    Now, to make this grown feel earned, I'd make it so that Zeke started off resenting his quirk at a young age and having that resentment reinforced over several years, adding more and more hurdles towards his acceptance of its true power, and Zeke's first final exam would revolve around forcing him to embrace his quirk.
    Let's say he wears a rubber suit most of the time and only uses his quirk to boost his physical capabilities, but the guy he's fighting simply can't be hit by a physical punch or kick. The turning point would be where Zeke removes a glove and zaps the teacher, forcing him to recognize that his quirk isn't the cause of his failures, but his attitude towards it.
    I wish I had the time/energy/drive to write a full story about Zeke, but right now all I got's an idea. If any of y'all are willing to do the hard work for me, I'd be more than happy to give you the ideas to shape into something resembling a story.

    hmm I think people don't give Yuga Aoyama the credit he deserves. Specially on watching the entirety of My hero again. He's actually very perceptive, this wasn't an accidental win, this was a purposeful attack. He isn't dumb, he took a calculated risk. He knew previously that 13 does not want to kill. So he threw their best chance at her. He knew Uraraka just had close combat training. He knows by that point that she gets flustered easily by mention of her relationship with Deku. So he flustered her, and sent her flying at 13. Giving her no chance to think about the danger at hand, and forcing the teacher to stop the attack.

    One thing. It wasn't a year at U.A. it was one semester. Japan has a different system than American schools. They start in spring and have their final exams each semester instead of one at the end of the full year each summer. The summer training camp that follows and the subsequent licencing exam all happen before the end of their summer break before their second semester. They have (I think) three semesters in one year, each with their own breaks in between each semester.

    I think your video was great! It really showed me new ways to look at the student's weaknesses and what they needed to improve on. Your point on Midnight's character being the weapon against Sero and Mineta was interesting, but I thought that Midnight's quirk would still be the most effective against them both. Midnight's quirk covers a large area. Combine that with her placement being near the exit and the student's only strengths being immobilization (sticky balls and sticky tape) and it becomes clear that even if Mineta and Sero managed to play their strengths and stop Midnight from moving, her quirk would still prevent them from getting close enough to complete either objective (escape or handcuff the teacher). Mineta realized this, which is why he drew Midnight away from the gate before immobilizing her.

    I would argue that Midorya and Bakugo's fight was about putting them together in a battleground to fight together but to put in the battleground together so that they could see how strong they each were in how strongly their different views opposed each other and had to be reconciled.
    The first thing that Midorya thinks to do is to gun it for the exit and not look back. Bakugo's first instinct is to find and defeat All Might.
    These two plans are antithetical to each other and they both show the biggest divide they have as character; while Midorya is looking to improve, he wants to do so gradually and steadily, Bakugo sees that improvement can only be done through breaking your hands against the wall you want to climb. I think Recovery Girl said it best when she said that one of them sees an indomitable hero while the other sees a wall to surpass. Midorya has to overcome his own reverence for All Might if he is to become the next Symbol of Peace. Bakguo's problem then, is to relationship he has to victory and Midorya. He doesn't like Midorya for reasons that are a lot more grounded in his view of the world than he actual dislike for Midorya (seeing as he hates how Midorya has sort of invalidated his belief that some people are just born capable and others aren't) and so he has to reconcile his want for victory with the dislike and idea of breaking his belief in himself and other.
    Its in reconciling these two different views of the world that they are able to work together to find a way to win. Bakugo knows that All Might is strong and Midorya agrees with that, so the plan to run becomes their goal but its in the operation how they do so that changes. Instead of just running, they decided that fighting has to be done in order to get a leg up. When it is revealed that this isn't going to work entirely, Bakugo tells Midorya to go in order to win since to him, winning at all cost is the end goal. When Midorya comes back to save him, its the point in which Midorya learns that he can do something against his hero. Against the person who he holds the greatest reverence for.

    I think one more obstacle that Deku and Bakugou were pitted against when the villain was All Might, was their admiration towards said hero. Though the emphasis is on Deku's respect toward All Might, Bakugou also grew up looking up to him. He wanted to beat him because he respected him as a #1 hero, and wanted to test his abilities (thinking maybe he had a chance at winning, given his huge ego), while Deku wanted to escape because he knew #1 hero is strong and besides maybe in some part of him he hesitated to injure All Might.

      Some more critic: It's not a full year that passed, it's barely half of it due to the fact that the school years in Japan start at April 1st. In the episode when Mr. Aizawa tested everyones strength at using their quirks and lieing about expelling the student with the fewest points, All Might told him that "April 1st is over".

    Yeah except most of the fights were actually really poorly thought out. Invisible Girl versus a sniper is one of the most poorly thought out matches I could think of, no one said high electricity would travel the several city blocks to knock out the crane's power because why would it, Deku had nothing to learn in the fight against All Might because he was right all along, the only reason tape boy and grape juice got caught is because they stopped for some reason, Uraraka's was a fight that had no chance at all besides dumb luck, and nothing said Cementos couldn't use his power to knock down the buildings they would have attempted to climb. I could cover the rest but why bother? The exam's were just an arbitrary way to push Deku and Bakugo together and the rest was just needed to justify the exam's existence.

    I'd argue that Tsuyu and Tokoyami's was that Tsuyu was a great support, but _only_ knew how to be support- not to act as the primary agent. Tokoyami had a similar issue, he just supported Dark Shadow for doing stuff, didn't know how to be the hero in his own right- he needed to work WITH Dark Shadow to come into his own. But that's not how they won, they only scraped by on a technicality because Tsuyu was still just acting as support and Tokoyami still made Dark Shadow do all the work.

    Poor Sero he literally saved Mineta, plus you would think he wouldn’t make it that easy to flip off his mask but oh well. Anyways other than the obvious Bakugou, Midoriya and Todoroki; Asui and Tokoyami are fricken monsters. Asui is extremely adaptable and Tokoyamis dark shadow can blow through forests two reasons why I love these two as well as midoriya.
