    I made something like this only instead of TENG, I used a speaker placed int the middle of a wing(flush with the wing surface as well). Attached ribbons to the wind cutting edge. When wind would blow across the wing it made a pressure difference that the ribbons followed making them smack against the wings body and the speaker. It worked, not much voltage or amperage but it did generate enough to be read by the meter. The pressure difference alone was enough to be readable, but the ribbons went mad in the wind so produced somewhat more. You might try attaching ribbons to your front edge and run the ribbons inside the container and out the back. The wind passing through it would move the ribbons against your TENG. Just a thought.

    Wind harp.
    Make 2 strips of a thin, ideally strong material, painted just like the 2 pieces of paper. Something like long strips of scotch tape, with the conducting ink painted on one side.
    No set them in to a wind harp instead of the string,with a little gap in between.
    The force of the wind and the length&tension of the tape determines the strength and frequency of the vibrations.
    I'm sure that WILL make some good Volts

    • @taylorwestmore4664

      I like this idea. A wind harp would be much more suitable to adapt to the plasma double-layer idea outlined in my comment about the Ion Power Group research. Even better, a cubic array of such wind harp wires should gain additional efficiency at scale, in the same way that vertical axis wind turbine arrays do.

    The best set up will likely be centered inside a venturi or between two air foils in which the top leading edges are facing each other creating a venturi affect.

    Seems like a TENG could benefit from taking a page out of the Ion Power Group research use of carbon nanotubes that increase surface area. Another technique involves using an electret insulated wire to act as a dielectric barrier to ions. Instead of collecting atmospheric ions with the wire, an insulation layer that is a strong permanent electret, causes the insulated wire to be polarized radially, the wind will do work against the ions caught in the electric double layer around the strong static field, to drive a much higher voltage and current than the tribo-electric voltage bias alone. Other experiments conducted by independent researchers show that when a dielectric electret insulated wire has a significant static voltage, the electron and ion density naturally present in the air begins to increase around the insulation, forming electrostatic double-layers in the air, which act as a plasma state, variable capacitive element in series with the insulated wire. These capacitive double-layers of plasma can store and release energy, but it may be more useful to allow them to form by accumulation and dielectric breakdown of air molecules, to greatly expand the cross-sectional area of the circuit with no added weight. The plasma double layer will intercept wind and ambient ions like a virtual sail, driving the capacitive layers together and apart the same way the reed vibrates due to mechanical restoring force, the electrostatic restoring force will determine the layers resonant frequency. The insulated wire with such a static dusty plasma field extending into the surrounding air is extremely sensitive to wind, vibration, atmospheric ion currents, heat and light and as a result can efficiently convert them to useful power. The size of the plasma field would be limited only by the dielectric constant of the insulation layers necessary to prevent breakdown at high voltage.

      What a thought... I like this!

    • @taylorwestmore4664
      @taylorwestmore4664 2 года назад +1

      @@davidhilton7780Thank you! Not an original idea by any means. In fact you can see evidence of this kind of dielectric barrier charge pump in Nikola Tesla's original patent "Apparatus for the utilization of radiant energy." US685957A.
      Tesla was among the first to suspect that the ionic content of the air is sustained by a combination of heat from the Sun, lightning, and ultraviolet and high energy cosmic radiation. The problem was always how to use that energy since ion density is usually so low. The solution, according to Tesla and some modern experimenters, is using exceptionally thin but high-K dielectrics. Tesla was limited to Mica and other relatively weak dielectrics, but once the critical breakdown of air is overcome, the plasma has highly non-linear electrical properties that make it ideal for converting different kinds of random environmental energies into useful work in the ground circuit.
      In fact the design should act very similarly to a recent invention that the famous Richard Feynman predicted was impossible. A class of Maxwell's Demon known as Brownian Ratchets was recently experimentally confirmed by using the Brownian motion of Graphene to extract energy from random thermal fluctuations in a single equilibrium thermal bath rather than from two thermal baths not in equilibrium. By suppressing the temperature fluctuations in the room the Laws of Thermodynamics are not violated, even though power is flowing in a system that is in thermodynamic equilibrium ie. the room and the graphene and the circuit is all the same temperature. It turns out that classical thermodynamics just won't do. The correct model must include the statistical thermodynamics of all the microstates of the quantized particles in the system to describe the uncertainty or distribution of fluctuation in the temperature flowing around in a classically equilibrium system. By reducing the fluctuations in temperature, the average temperature doesn't shift much, but the uncertainty or fluctuations do go away, leaving an even more uniform temperature that never left equilibrium. Like noise cancellation. The reduced uncertainty is the source of increasing entropy to perform work on the circuit. A dielectric barrier discharge that forms a plasma double layer can perform a similar role as a "Brownian Ratchet" by being a highly non-linear medium that can amplify fluctuations coupled to the circuit. A plasma panel would act as an anechoic panel that could absorb sound waves and random temperature fluctuations in a room until the temperature was uniform everywhere (in a perfectly sealed room). Put it outside and you have many sources of fluctuations that can be harvested.
