Put a leaf blower into it.
Also, Im picturing a tree with many leaves made with something like this technology.
Thanks for the interesting videos, much appreciated!
Awesome suggestion, Even when there is wind rocking the tree it should give it enough jiggle to do something. I might have to try that. Thanks mate!😄
Amazing! I love the way you went with the rubber bands and stuff, be very curious to see a scaled up version 🔥
It would be awesome too see indeed! Thanks mate! 😁
Use the vhs tape reed vibration like rob made . It would be awesome Luke👍🏻
that is what I thought too but it may be cheaper this way ... I would imagine. One can look at it from both ends.
Awesome suggestion! It must go into the book now LOL! Thanks mate.😁
@@MyNameIsLukey now I am next level excited. If you do it and have promising results I will start this journey from there aswell. Looking forward to doing some content and I will be sure to give your channel a shout out !
My dad and I "finally Agree On This" that Your Onto Something "if it will obtain 12 Volts in the wind" too.
Try it infront of a loud speaker. Sound should make it vibrate. There's alot to be explored with sound waves and energy production
Awesome idea mate! I must give that ago. 😁
Well done Luke! Cool.
Hi Luke.
Maybe complete the ventury, on the back, and under?
Cheers.
I made something like this only instead of TENG, I used a speaker placed int the middle of a wing(flush with the wing surface as well). Attached ribbons to the wind cutting edge. When wind would blow across the wing it made a pressure difference that the ribbons followed making them smack against the wings body and the speaker. It worked, not much voltage or amperage but it did generate enough to be read by the meter. The pressure difference alone was enough to be readable, but the ribbons went mad in the wind so produced somewhat more. You might try attaching ribbons to your front edge and run the ribbons inside the container and out the back. The wind passing through it would move the ribbons against your TENG. Just a thought.
Wind harp.
Make 2 strips of a thin, ideally strong material, painted just like the 2 pieces of paper. Something like long strips of scotch tape, with the conducting ink painted on one side.
No set them in to a wind harp instead of the string, with a little gap in between.
The force of the wind and the length&tension of the tape determines the strength and frequency of the vibrations.
I'm sure that WILL make some good Volts
I like this idea. A wind harp would be much more suitable to adapt to the plasma double-layer idea outlined in my comment about the Ion Power Group research. Even better, a cubic array of such wind harp wires should gain additional efficiency at scale, in the same way that vertical axis wind turbine arrays do.
I would like to suggest that you set your DVM to manual, as opposed to auto-ranging.
This will fix those annoying indecision moments that you are seeing on the voltage display.
That would be awesome! I didn't know you could do that because it can get very annoying LOL. Thanks mate!😁
@@MyNameIsLukey
You are welcome.
This should save you a lot of fuss :) .
So, I must say I had to try something like this myself, I used two strips of foil tape on a sheet of paper parallel to each other and attached leads to each one, then another two strips on another. I was surprised also at the results. Thanks again for sharing luke!
The best set up will likely be centered inside a venturi or between two air foils in which the top leading edges are facing each other creating a venturi affect.
can the teng generator be integrated into a much lower mass flag or flag-like apparatus that creates more flutter?
Ohhhhh I must give that a go, that's an awesome idea! Great suggestion, thanks mate!😁
I believe there is a chinese paper on exactly that. Can't remember if the fluid was air or water though, but same thing.
Make a horn to gather wind, and also make a horn shaped sock that hangs in front of the horn and the tail comes out the back. Turn the horn into a generator instead of putting a flat generator inside it.
Bam - windsock wind generator
Two TENG sheets on some kind of flagpole should do the trick even better. The Wind will blow them in the same direction and they will be waving all the time.
That would be awesome, get them rubbing together in a flag setting. Thanks mate!😄
Nice mate.
Thank you mate!😁
Would it be possible to put a cam on the back of a propeller and have it hit the teng
1:00 “…it’s a really nice, hot, sunny day…”
3:20 “…it’s been hailing, and I’m absolutely freezing…”
Ahh, spring on a North Atlantic island!
Hahahaha average day in England LOL! Believe it or not this was all shot within a week 🤣🤣
@@MyNameIsLukey I’d figured as much. I was just having a little joke at the expense of the weather, rather than the usual weather laughing at us.🤪
Awesome! 👏
Thank you mate!😄
perhaps a staircase setup or stand multiples up to catch wind...very cool stuff thanks for sharing
Put a few on a drum kit with LED's. Sounds like a fun project 😎
So I got this idea watching you: take a bunch of these things and one of those wooden window covers with slats, attach the TENG to the slats and set the frame up in some location that directs the wind into it. Not sure if horizontal or vertical would work better.
I've been waiting for you guys to start combining these tech's. Why not combine atmospheric motors with TENG?
If the Teng was at an angle to force the majority of the wind across it's surface you would get a better result. Even better when the air is moist
What would happen if you put that on a rc plane, would it generate anything?
Im not too sure, but it is an awesome thought.😁
For every watt of energy generated it would steal at least 2 from the energy being expended on keeping the plane in flight. Aerodynamics efficiencies on small aircraft are low.
@@joshrowe9653 I guess, but what if those paper things shape and placement on the small plane is fitted better for it?
Like feather like perhaps?
Seems like a TENG could benefit from taking a page out of the Ion Power Group research use of carbon nanotubes that increase surface area. Another technique involves using an electret insulated wire to act as a dielectric barrier to ions. Instead of collecting atmospheric ions with the wire, an insulation layer that is a strong permanent electret, causes the insulated wire to be polarized radially, the wind will do work against the ions caught in the electric double layer around the strong static field, to drive a much higher voltage and current than the tribo-electric voltage bias alone. Other experiments conducted by independent researchers show that when a dielectric electret insulated wire has a significant static voltage, the electron and ion density naturally present in the air begins to increase around the insulation, forming electrostatic double-layers in the air, which act as a plasma state, variable capacitive element in series with the insulated wire. These capacitive double-layers of plasma can store and release energy, but it may be more useful to allow them to form by accumulation and dielectric breakdown of air molecules, to greatly expand the cross-sectional area of the circuit with no added weight. The plasma double layer will intercept wind and ambient ions like a virtual sail, driving the capacitive layers together and apart the same way the reed vibrates due to mechanical restoring force, the electrostatic restoring force will determine the layers resonant frequency. The insulated wire with such a static dusty plasma field extending into the surrounding air is extremely sensitive to wind, vibration, atmospheric ion currents, heat and light and as a result can efficiently convert them to useful power. The size of the plasma field would be limited only by the dielectric constant of the insulation layers necessary to prevent breakdown at high voltage.
What a thought... I like this!
@@davidhilton7780Thank you! Not an original idea by any means. In fact you can see evidence of this kind of dielectric barrier charge pump in Nikola Tesla's original patent "Apparatus for the utilization of radiant energy." US685957A.
Tesla was among the first to suspect that the ionic content of the air is sustained by a combination of heat from the Sun, lightning, and ultraviolet and high energy cosmic radiation. The problem was always how to use that energy since ion density is usually so low. The solution, according to Tesla and some modern experimenters, is using exceptionally thin but high-K dielectrics. Tesla was limited to Mica and other relatively weak dielectrics, but once the critical breakdown of air is overcome, the plasma has highly non-linear electrical properties that make it ideal for converting different kinds of random environmental energies into useful work in the ground circuit.
In fact the design should act very similarly to a recent invention that the famous Richard Feynman predicted was impossible. A class of Maxwell's Demon known as Brownian Ratchets was recently experimentally confirmed by using the Brownian motion of Graphene to extract energy from random thermal fluctuations in a single equilibrium thermal bath rather than from two thermal baths not in equilibrium. By suppressing the temperature fluctuations in the room the Laws of Thermodynamics are not violated, even though power is flowing in a system that is in thermodynamic equilibrium ie. the room and the graphene and the circuit is all the same temperature. It turns out that classical thermodynamics just won't do. The correct model must include the statistical thermodynamics of all the microstates of the quantized particles in the system to describe the uncertainty or distribution of fluctuation in the temperature flowing around in a classically equilibrium system. By reducing the fluctuations in temperature, the average temperature doesn't shift much, but the uncertainty or fluctuations do go away, leaving an even more uniform temperature that never left equilibrium. Like noise cancellation. The reduced uncertainty is the source of increasing entropy to perform work on the circuit. A dielectric barrier discharge that forms a plasma double layer can perform a similar role as a "Brownian Ratchet" by being a highly non-linear medium that can amplify fluctuations coupled to the circuit. A plasma panel would act as an anechoic panel that could absorb sound waves and random temperature fluctuations in a room until the temperature was uniform everywhere (in a perfectly sealed room). Put it outside and you have many sources of fluctuations that can be harvested.
@@taylorwestmore4664 ... I'm pleased to see you are also a fan of Mr. Tesla aswell am I ... This brings to my attention some of the systems today that we all should be greatful to the extent Mr. Tesla had went to. And your understanding on this matter of our dynamic existence is why we all need a better way to become a type 3 planet where we can utilize all the energy and continue to expand into the unknown, thank you for reminding me to keep trying different things and to make a difference...
Perhaps take a look at wind instruments with reeds, clarinet or oboe, for Ideas on channeling the air flow more effectively?
your box with a damper in it is half way to a whistle.
Can that be used as a rain or hail electric generator?
Interesting. I wonder how much of a factor air temperature has
Can't seem to find video 1485 anymore
what about 2 sails with the conductive ink flapping together
3:28 Is that your roller shutter rattling in the wind? Maybe connect the TENG to the shutter.
That would be awesome! That would get it moving on a windy day. Thanks mate!😁
It looks quite flexible, do think you could make a wind sock with it?
If this thing were put on a turning plate and another turning plate rubbing against it with the contacts. Then the turning plates could be powered by the wind.
Maybe a speaker cone made out of your tang gadget
How about a windmill spinning and hitting the teng?
1.8v at how many amps? Put a load on it.
👍💪🙏
Cheers mate!😁
I do not how it comes, but by my give the thumb up no reaction that happens often the last year it is a fact
stack um 10 high, and stick it on a tripod to face the wind.
and show it charging your mobile.
Thanks again for the the morning dose of quality TnT
Never any theory just waving arms around.
Could you make a kite out out the teng?
Can you do any useful work with it?
You could have a few of the set up, connected to a rectifier then dump that into a capacitor. That way you have useable power! Thanks mate. 😁
Just an idea.
What if You make around 80-1000 from that and hanging those on a tree..?
Or making a few millions. And using a forest for electricity generation. For example in a so called "Food Forest". This thing made me thinking....
More over i would like to thank here for You for all these educational stuff here. In my opinion Robert is the current "Da Vinci with a flavour of Tesla", a truly genius mind and Luke next to him looks absolutely like the perfect "padavan" (ha-ha, Luke... Skywalker...haha...) I' curious about later what more things come out from him :)
Anyway, i'm a huge fan of the channel, and following it since a long time, but i think so that this thing is the most genius invention in our decade. The simplicity and scalability.
First!!
Ayyyyyy yoooooo! 😁
Too much talking.
