I'm sorry but this doesnt look like Luther any more, it looks like Bond. It will probably be good but its not a gritty crime thriller, its an action movie.

Finally after some time Luther is back.. watched the old Luther BBC series back to back few years back.. one of the best British cop film thriller. Excellent Idris Elba acting. Thanks Netflix!!

Luther, Sherlock and Black Mirror (not a netflix show) have always been my favorite BBC shows and some of the best television ever. I'm so glad their doing one more luther. I miss all my favorite BBC shows
Loved the series, just got goosebumps watching the trailer, and just love it that Netflix has it. Cannot wait. I hope they start the series up again.
Why would you be excited that Netflix has it? Netflix puts out mostly garbage stuff. This would be an exception.
This looks almost perfect. I say almost because if Alice isn't in this, it's not really a Luther film. Luther on his own is OK, Luther and Alice together are electric.

I can get over it in the context of the movie, but the main thing that held the original show back was they couldn’t keep Ruth Wilson around consistently enough to properly deal with the twisted dynamic they set up between Luther/Alice in the first season. She was the most compelling co-star and it was like her potential was always being hedged or thrown away
@@TheJadedJames But they didn't PRECISELY show that Alice is dead right? They just showed that she fell but didn't show that she actually is dead. They left it kinda open, so there is still hope. But I won't hold my breath for it, I don't think she will be in the movie, they would have showed her in the trailer for at least a split second for the show fans.

Luther series sets a high standard in action and crime cinematography. This a character that delivers what you are looking in the genre, an amazing cast playing a gruesome and very well written story.
No lie with this phenomenal actor this movie's going to be so good

Luther was a terrific series and much of it was precisely because of Idris Alba. I can't stress enough how great this series was. If this was an American series it would have been a blockbuster.
The news of this movie is a very pleasant surprise. Not only is Netflix embracing a loved character but it seems that they're sticking to what made him great instead of completing dumping a franchise on it's head.

@@Rubrick23. i feel you, but I think four or less episodes is a bit short. I would love more storytelling. Even going back to the six episodes per season would be more satisfying to me.

@@leolindstrom5018 this is the only movie in the series. there are 5 seasons. check them out. first season came out in 2010. last season came out 2019.

@@empoytekyo6981 only the last season is. specifically, the last episode. it isn't necessary though. you just might be confused as to why he is in prison. but luther is so good that I think you should start with the first episode of season 1. each season is only like 3 to 5 episodes. the best season of the series is probably the first season or second season.

When I saw this on the 2023 Netflix movies trailer a while ago, I thought it looked decent, but now actually seeing the official trailer it looks pretty awsome, loving Netflix movies recently

Really want them to figure out another way to bring back Alice, but understand you can only play that card some many times. That being said: YES. This is awesome and I really hope they continue to put out Luther films moving forward. The series is fantastic, the character is enthralling and Idris Elba is amazing in the role. Keep them coming!

There's a reason we all loved the body guard, silent witness and luther the BBC for all its faults makes some of the best series PERIOD.

Didn’t really need big action scenes in Luther, it was always quite grounded. Hope they’re just trying to make the movie look flashy but keep the story first.
Honestly only watched the series recently, after watching this. Although its tricky to find in my location at present it was worth the digging, cannot believe I missed it. Top notch tv!

It was an amazing experience to watch this. I cried and screamed whenever Luther was put upon, hurt, abused or tortured. Idris Elba is magnificent!

I'm late to the Luther boat, but I started watching it and I cannot stop. It's such a well written show, incredible characters, disturbing antagonists. I'm on season 5 now, can't wait to watch the movie.

I love him he doesn't look at himself as a black actor it hinders his growth and aspirations for other things. Ignorance vs. Intelligence beats racism everytime.
as being experienced with psychopaths I can confirm that the attitude of Luther at the end, showing "positive sarcasm", works well in order to trigger the psychopath/sociopath. Be the same as them without losing yourself as a human being. If you can't confront them, then just run away.
Thank you Netflix ! Idris Elba is such a great actor, sadly too old to be James Bond, but Luther is giving him a chance to be close to a role like this.

What is the name of the series
It's gone from being a London cop drama to a James Bond spin off.
Basically. Not to say I won't enjoy it, but it does feel like it ended up doing the same thing the fast and furious series did. They become fun moments, but it takes you out when you realise how far away from the grounded reality it started with has shifted.
Quite a coincidence has a bond vibe to it and what does that tell you 🧐🤔
I just wish DS Justin Ripley hadn't gotten shot and killed in season 3, He and Luther were great together and he was on his side throughout all the allegations etc.

If anyones watched this yet? Its crazy the main villain is the guy who Alice speaks about in the very first episode of the tv series. As she holds sharp needle yo Luther wife. She speaks on a woman getting burned while her husband is a secret rapist.
Impatient to see this but I am a little worried about all this Mission Impossible action going on, I really hope they keep it grounded
