Thank goodness that there are collectors like this in the world. Not only preserving these marvelous machines but allowing them to be enjoyed and appreciated by all.
Absolutely beautiful. These rides and transport, so well painted and cared for. The old sound of a traditional travelling fair. I hope 'Carter's' also find a special place to retire and be remembered. I used to love seeing the trucks, as the visiting fair would arrive. Happy Dayz
Absolutely fabulous. What an amazing time you must have had. I was enthralled all the way through and at the end wow wow wow. Thank. You Darren so much.
Nice to see that you went into the Wurlitzer pipe chambers and explained. A lot of people think that the sounds come from speakers and the console. I am a trustee of the Shropshire Theatre Organ Trust where we are custodians of our own Mighty Wurlitzer Organ which is currently looking for a new home venue within Shropshire
Oh that was so beautiful. I used to own a Wurlitzer organ but it was electronic. Would just love to get on a pipe organ for a while. The whole show is lovely, I so enjoyed that. Thanks for taking me along, please stay safe and take care
Fabulous! I remember standing on the bars on the Speedway many years ago. I didn’t know that the Wurlitzer pipe room is so big. Thanks for showing us behind the scenes.
I think Darren had a fun day making this video..... What a way to spend a day, good times. The funny thing about the "bumper cars" is that you now get in trouble if you actually "BUMP" eachother..... Nothing like Vintage Steam, loco's "showman's" traction engines or ships, all great stuff.
Many thanks Darren for a fantastic video. The showmans steam engines & the tractors bought back many memories for me along with the steam waggon. My late father used to drive steam engines and waggons at many steam rallies around the country and I have to admit I had a tear in my eye when you were listening to those organs.
amazing collection love fairgrounds and the original paintwork when i was little , glad to see collections like this , those amazing organs works of art inside and out thanks darren for this you look like your having a ball
The carousel has always and will be my favourite ride. So many memories when I was with my mum and dad in Scarborough .. I miss them so much ... and us all going to Scarborough for our holidays and other seaside towns like Blackpool and Brid .. thank you very much for bringing back memories for us ... Darren you are the best xx
Thank you Darran. Cannot believe I missed the Scarborough Fair Collection when staying at The Bay Filey. I travelled along the Moor Road and the A165 daily. Will put on my travel list for next time I visit Yorkshire. I do enjoy Steam machines as much as the enjoyment into time travel, science and steampunk.
Hello Darren, great video and it brings back many memories for me as I was a volunteer worker at weekends up at Graham's Scarborough fair collection and it's as you know a magnificent place and there was always plenty of cleaning to do,I've given the famous Iron Maiden a few clean's that's a few year's ago know, it's nice to see Alan Carr at the Mighty Wurlitzer and knew him well. Just love it all and has been a part of my life for many year's.
Ahh fab Darren.....and we know you can sing cos you and the chaps were brilliant last friday night in Holmfirth, the girls and i had a brilliant time. Sarah, Frankie, Zoe, Janet and Hannah. XXXXX
Many years ago, my partner was invited to the home of the late Richard Preston, founder of Preston's of Potto and I tagged along thinking it would pass a few hours. He had a massive barn full of vintage steam engines, steam organs, fairground rides, sideshows etc all of which were working on the day. A fascinating man and collection, it would be interesting to know what became of it after he passed away. Also, Preston's of Potto's business premises were on the site of the disused Potto station and quite a few remnants were remaining.
Never been to Scarborough, laughing man, love the sound of the Traction Egines,my brother makes Waltzes really good ,swinging boats, he shows them at different places,Suffolk and norfolk areas, enjoyed this video,,thank you for sharing 😊
Hey Darren A fabulous video with another behind the scenes tour. So good! I loved how the German Oktoberfest organ was playing the theme from The Dam Busters. It’s absolutely amazing these showman and the Wurlitzer organs were invented long before computer technology and were constructed by hand and by skilled craftsmen. Stunning!
Fabulous, about 20 odd years ago we were coming back from a horse show in an elderly Leyland Terrier horse box, up ahead we joined a slower moving steam and classic vehicle convoy also moving on from a show, we fitted right in.
This was fabulous, and I loved seeing your face while enjoying the rides 😅😅 I've been there once a few years ago but this has made me want to return and spend a bit longer
Hi Darren, nice one fella. It was eye opening for me to realise a Wurlitzer organ needed a pipe room. Think you were in heaven there, hope you didn't get too moist 😜 I can still remember the fair coming to Batley as a kid, the rides and stalls and best bit was a bag of 'chats' (new potatoes, halved and fried like chips). Oh innocent, but exciting times. Cheers DougT in Mancs
Blimey, what a great piece of nostalgia! I have to hope that the woman in the ballroom wearing the yellow dress never sees this video though, I bet she'd be mortified that her black knickers are in clear view for all the world to see! 🤣
What a wonderful looking place to visit I had never heard of it until recently when it was on TV. So much more there than they showed there, I am really pleased you showed us round.
Brilliant, The old 60's cars remind me of when I was growing up. In fact I had a Morris 1100 and an Austin A35 van in the late 60's early 70's. One of my friends is a showman and when I first met him in 1969 - 1970 his parents lived in one of those living vans you depicted in this episode. He ran the Dodgems his brother ran the Waltzer. This place is now on my must visit list.
What a fascinating museum, I love all that nostalgia even recognised my first model of car in there a 1954 Standard 8. Looks like a great place to visit thanks for the video Darren. 👍
I love that place I've been 2 times. Such an amazing collection I'd say the organs are the best part they all sound brilliant! Also love the fairground rides and the vintage amusement machines.
That was great and looks like a great place to visit if it happens to rain in Yorkshire. A couple of songs come to mind - of course `Are you going to Scarborough Fair` by Simon and Garfunkel and less well known is Jo Stafford singing `The Stanley Steamer` from the 1940s (not the Stanley Steemer song)
I remember last year seeing Carters fun fair going down the M5, what a sight. I’m sure they have one of those old Scammell trucks 🇬🇧🇬🇧 Jerry cans in that green truck, the British nicked the design off the zee Germans, they all fit together like you could see. Jerrys was the nickname for Germans in the war, hence “Jerry cans”
Looks a fascinating place to visit , another one to add to my Northern places to see list . Really well put together vid as always Darren . Not sure about the Queen cover , think you should stick to Take That !!
That was really interesting, you seemed to be enjoying Bohemian Rhapsody by organ i never knew there was a collection like this next time I'm in Scarborough I'll have a look
Hello Darren how are you fancstic vidio yes Jane McDonald been there and Susan carman from grand day out I have never been in there but maybe next year take care stay safe xx
@@AdventureMe They were a couple old organs to be fair. Changing the topic slightly, I appreciate this video. I was born in Scarborough in 1992, and have been back fairly recently. I forgot how nice an area it is, I might have to move back. While living there, I lived at the top of Trafalgar Road where you could see the fair from my window. I guess not quite the same in modern years as it was done in a massive car park, but it was always very well executed. A generator driven Merry Go Round very similar to the one in your video (and I wonder if it actually the same one) was always set up close to the main entrance. I'm pretty sure there was a steam driven orchestra that played Scarborough Fair, too. I've also seen some of these rides, Showman's and traction engines put to work at Pickering Traction Rally, and Dorset Steam Fair on multiple occasions so this video really resonated with me. It's brought back some decent childhood memories.
Thank goodness that there are collectors like this in the world. Not only preserving these marvelous machines but allowing them to be enjoyed and appreciated by all.
that ghost train had some good displays
Looks great!
And the memories keep flooding back thanks Darren 😊
Thanks mate. Where have you been. Not seen you on here for ages lol
It's been all working mate but back now
Absolutely beautiful. These rides and transport, so well painted and cared for. The old sound of a traditional travelling fair. I hope 'Carter's' also find a special place to retire and be remembered. I used to love seeing the trucks, as the visiting fair would arrive. Happy Dayz
what a delightful collection darren
Thanks Chris. Had a great day in there
Love a good vintage fairground. Been to one in Devon. People of the past knew how to have a good time. Thank you for sharing this with us.
The museum at Lifton in Devon (Dingles) is due to close at the end of the season with the collection being split up I believe.
Absolutely fabulous. What an amazing time you must have had. I was enthralled all the way through and at the end wow wow wow. Thank. You Darren so much.
Thanks Shirley

A fine museum of these vehicles of the past. Amazing museum. Thanks for the tour today, Darren. Cheers mate.
Thanks Darren, that was fun.
Thanks James
GREAT video.Many many thanks.
Thanks Trevor
A few years ago we was at a local steam rally and it started to pour. Stood under the green tarps of the iron maiden. Kept us nice and warm.

It's a lovely little place

This is a most fabulous place just a few miles from my home and well worth a visit. Thanks for a most interesting tour!
That version of Bohemian Rhapsody was something else! 😄
Thanks Silvia
That’s a lovely collection of historic attractions.
Your face on the rides Darren … like a big kid 😂👍
Thanks mate. Yes my favourite thing

Great video as always. I couldn't help giggle at you having a wee sing song and a boogy to yourself at the end. Lol

God I love a carousel. Rarely pass up the chance to go on... even if I'm sat on it alone like a weirdo hahaha
Looks like a great place to visit!
I did feel a bit weird, but what the hell.
Amazing cheers Darren 🎵

Darren 🥰👍👍
Thanks for watching
great stuff!
Bo Rap never sounded so good! lol Great video, thanks some great stuff, shame so far away I would love to go :(
Is that the wurlitzer that used to be owned by Arthur Turner that used to play in the Hollywood Plaza cinema in Scarborough?
I actually don't know Matthew. Maybe drop them an email, they will defo know.
“Couple of organs in the corner” 😂😂
First one to notice that joke lol
The "Not These Two" comment got me.
I think you're the only one that noticed that haha

@@Opapa99 thats good then i wasnt certain what the prices were
...and what is the meaning of the song 'Scarborough Fair' from Simon & Garfunkel actually ?
Vintage ghost train always seemed to include a dodgy bloke who grabbed you in the dark as you went past 😂
Sexual assault these days lol
The Noah's Ark ride was restored by a chap who lives up the road from me.
Are you doing thursford at christmas
No mate. What is it
hi there Darren, I feel a bit daft saying this but a friend of mine said that the Wurlitzer organ wasn't in there, Put him right will you. Thanks.
There's two in there.
@@AdventureMe Thanks for letting me know Darren.
👍
you never fail to amaze me amazing thanks once again.
