OMG....that was as beautiful as I had imagined! Such a treat to see that vehicle. And, that had to be one of the best roundabouts experiences EVER! You're so fortunate to have been allowed to take it for a spin....lucky, lucky man!
I love the old Silver Shadow. Mostly because new Rolls-Royces are like " HEY, I'M A FUCKING MILLIONAIRE", while the Silver Shadow is like "Yeah, I make half a million a year. Nothing special.".
this is my favourite car. it's like coming home to a warm log fire with a nice cup of tea and a labrador curled up at your feet and nothing to do until it's time to dress for dinner
@@MrDanSouth Ah those were the days in '60's Britain. The 6.2 and 6.75 RR V8's were absolute torque monsters. Too bad a Rolls today is just a reskinned BMW 7 series, what a pity. At least the Silver Shadow/Spirit and Spur were the "real deal". I'd rather have one of these over any new one today.
Hello from SRH 5463 1969 too. Mine is really silver shadow because "he" is really silver. Now this flying lady is in good hands after two years of many maintenances and reparations - mainly caused by lack of proper care by so many years. Soon I will complete whole hydraulic system and than we can again drive across the streets. Greeting from Poland to all and real old RR funs - I know that brand is still existing but RR is no longer produced - now it is only a BMW with BMW engines but still with flying lady on its bonnet. Unfortunately history of this car was ended when BMW bought them and Crewie team was released. Car is not a brand - car is a tradition and soul.
I always loved these old Rolls, they are simply the most fun one can have with their clothes on... Haha I was lucky enough to procure a flawless 67' T1 in my favorite colour scheme. Taking it for a spin, as in your case as well, brings a bit of levity to life. Make note of the Gen indicator light though. Mine did that occasionally as well, it was a simple charge indicator relay fault and nothing wrong with the state of charge.
Loved the video! Great Chippendale dash! This very early 69‘ Shadow was one of the the last made with this dash! Due to US safety standards which kicked in in early 1969, a lot of the wood on the dash was eliminated for padding material. So sad! I own the 3rd production Shadow ever made (1965). Absolutely love the early dash And the moveable vent windows in the front doors!
my dad has one I have never been drivin in it before he has had it for 20 years and and hasn't been on the road for about 17 years he has been getting the hole break system fixed and it has taken a year to fix so excited to have it as a daily car instead of the Porsche or Volvo
It is very easy to drive in parking places It is possible to se al for corner of the car very easy to drive whit precision if You are not tale it is just to raise the power seat
When strapping a camera to your head did you ever think that perhaps wearing a cap with a sun visor might actually obstruct the camera view? Go Pro head mounts are inexpensive or you could've cut the visor off. :/
This car has the tables on the back of the front seats and the "Chippendale" facia, indicating this car is a '66-67-68 motor car. By 1969 they had the safety padded facia and no pic nic tables.
Apart from the substantial fuel bill, the actual regular maintenance of fluids, engine consumables, tyres and brake pads are all cheap to purchase and it is a simple car by modern standards. Your problem £££ would arise if the car needed a gearbox, or the hydraulic suspension units replacing. Still a fantastic car, though. Thanks for watching.
I didn't. Just something to be mindful of, it may be 'cheap' as a classic to run with specialists and servicing, but if something bad happens, it is a very expensive car to repair.
I have now aspired to a Royce Royce Shadow .It may empty my bank account . Rolling restoration who cares saving up for the petrol it loves petrol keep a light right foot
Mr DanSouth if 1969 with that old typ Dashboard I would be greatful if You could provide us with the VIN no Please I might be wrong on an other R-R page Nice car by the way with sun topp
Hello, I don't have the VIN or any other details so I can't add any updated information for you. The car had the hydro suspension, 6.3 engine, older dash and picnic tables.. was a fabulous car!
It could be a 68 model that was registered for UK roads in early 69, Our registrations don't roll over at the start of the year, and there may be a gap between a car being ordered, produced and then registered.
@@MrDanSouth Well 1968 makes me more happy VIN no I expect was SRH52?? Comparing it with the one I was perhaps wrong about This on You tube page Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow : FSD-135
My dream-car is not a Rolls! It is my Citroen DS 23 IE Pallas -74! And I do not have any problems with the hydraulic system on this car. It´s very reliable. And it does not cost "a fortune" to maintain or repair. The DS also has servo-steering (of course), and full-power brakes (just opens a valve when you lightly press the "mushroom" on the floor). Two circuit system, with load sensistive rear brakes, and much more. It also has constan ride hight, of course, and the best ride comfort of any car, the Rolls included! And a lot of other advanced and novel features that the Rolls lacks! (Not to mention the front-wheel drive!) And all this introduced by Citroen already in 1955!
Steve Prince Ive got a 1966 ford anglia it does 35 if your really pushing it the 1959 ad seas it would do 50 mpg I think they were away with the fairys that being Seid the roller is probably more efficient than the mk10 jaguar.
Burnotto I'm just saying if you have plenty of money not a problem but it can be a bit of a pain when you fork out £80 to fill it and you are doing that say once a week !
I mean, you're mocking and laughing at this car. I bet you wouldn't have the same reaction if you were to drive the Rolls Royce Cullinan, because it's like you, modern. But in fifty years, people will be mocking the Cullinan in the same way as you are, if they have no respect for.our heritage, that is.

I ORDERED A CATALOG IN 1969 FOR THIS CAR, AND I REMEMBER YOU COULD BUY ONE FOR $19,000 IN 1969!!! THAT WAS A LOT OF MONEY BACK THEN!!!
Not the first time you've felt a very large one in a car park no doubt. Liked.

Funny you. I enjoyed the ride. TKS
'A great bit of kit.' I am sure Charles Rolls and Henry Royce would be proud of that description of their legacy...

So how is the AC? It looks like there are only two vents at the front, how AC manage to keep the car cool?
It works well. Cold air and high flow rate.
Dash vents plus screen vents plus foot-well vents. It manages very well thank you.
Beautiful color. Is that 'Blue Velvet'?
I couldn't tell you the colour. Very pretty car, though.
Might be dawn blue
Classic Roller
I'm watching it.
Wincing whenever the road narrows! :)
Haha! 'Don't worry, it's not like it's brand new or anything'
Driver is carful if not the other cars will be wincing
Do not blame the driver he is responsible and careful

How many times did you have to do big maintenance like the gearbox etc?
I didn't. Just something to be mindful of, it may be 'cheap' as a classic to run with specialists and servicing, but if something bad happens, it is a very expensive car to repair.
Locking att the price tag as new it must and should be expensive
Not happening You do not have to pore manual gearbox oil into Your automatic
I've got a 67' silver shadow, always a pleasure to drive even though i'm 18 y/old
Do you?
It's an absolut dream of a car and especially my dream!
Love that car *-*
do not trade that car for any thing else
You should be proud and happy it is the best year of make
