One thing about procecuring cancelled research data from other countries, is actually a smart thing for countries having less experience in Fighter aircraft design and it's not really unlicensed copying. Even countries like USA has done this. They purchased the complete research of YAK-141 VTOL fighter from Yakovlev (Russia) and used that to the VTOL version development of X-35 or JSF program. Companies after cancellation of their project, always try to benefit themselves by selling the research work to compensate the money they spent. Back in 80s, F-20 Tigershark, after loosing to F-16 was offered to India for local production but India never showed much interest on these kind of proposals, which was a mistake in my opinion.

I think J10 developer worked with better logic than LCA .. from design to use of composite on later stage have saved lot of time to develop the fighter.. hope we go away with doing everything first time and reinventing the wheel.

The Biggest mistake made by India while developing Tejas was naming it "Light" .....we closed our mind by just wanting to develop an light fighter only to replace the Mig-21....we narrowed downed our design in the first place...if Tejas was designed a little more bigger and heavier and if canards were included....it would have been much better.....we Indians are close-minded and this has been shown by the Tejas design....we only wanted it to be a replacement for the Mig-21....not the backbone of the airforce....this shows the confidence of the airforce towards indegenous systems back then......

I know defence matrix will not acknowledge it because he is a hardcore patriot but China has been impressive in the development of their fighter jets while India is lagging far behind in this. Just think, the LCA program started in 1983. The engine, weapons, avionics etc all was supposed to be foreign and it's still foreign. Still it took us 32 years to field it. While China is much fast with this. On equal footing the PLAAF has a clear cut upper hand on IAF which is struggling to maintain it's squadrons due to ageing fighter jets. No country in the world still uses Mig 21 and Jaguars. We should focus strongly now on indigenous fighters and field them on Chinese borders as soon as possible. Also it's very important to increase our production rate as we are not capable of producing as many fighters as China can in a year. The government should bring in private players like TATA, L&T, Reliance to speed up the development and reduction of these fighter jets.

The only issue with j10C is its engine if the Chinese have perfected the ws10B engine then j10C can compete with f16 block 70 easily and is a real 4.5 generation fighter with thrust vectoring and with the use of radar absorbent paint i hope the RCS should not be more then 1 to max 1.5 square meters with PL15 and in the future will also get PL21 then it will become very lethal and can challenge all 4.5 generation fighters
Yes, it is naturally unstable. The canards are far ahead of the mass center, so the drag force would naturally increase the AOA and helps pilot to change heading faster. In conventional design, the tail wing works like arrow fins. The drag force always decreases AOA and naturally makes the heading same as flight direction, so it is naturally stable.
