I have been rocking heated gear for the past seven years a“game changer”. You can ride year-round. Do yourself a solid and get yourself a full leather chaps (pants) and a 3mm scuba hood. Ridden at 25°F dead of winter no problem.
Iceberg
Gerbing is the best. Lifetime warranty. The jacket and pants are heavy so order from a place you can return if it doesn't fit or too heavy/bulking for you. If you go with the jacket liner or the pant liner, be sure it will fit with the jacket and pants you plan to wear. You want it to fit snug. Whoever you purchase from, make sure you can return if it doesn't fit. When you get your gear test sitting on your bike with helmet and moving around before ripping off tags. Get the controller and the strap that you can put on your thigh. Much easier to work that way. I have all black cords, never saw red ones. The gloves seem stiff when room temp but are very flexible when heated up. Don't buy the Harley brand. Gerbing used to make it for Harley for years but in the past five or so years, they switched to a different vendor to make it and they had nothing but problems. Many dealerships won't even carry HD heated gear because of the complaints and returns. Good heated gear is expensive but worth it.
Up here in PA 44 is summer glove weather. Lol be safe
Good choice of gear! I have been using the Gering gear for 3 years now. I have socks, pants liner, jacket liner and gloves. I ride all winter!
My wife has heated gloves and a heated jacket. She loves them; they are battery powered and we just have extras on standby. She says they are a game changer.
which brand did you go with?
I'm a motor officer and we ride year round. We use California Heat and used to use Gerbing.
The pants liner won't be as warm if you're wearing regular pants. The wind is just too much for it to contend with. I use a heated pants liner down to about 30-35. Any lower than that and I have to use my heated outerpants which are like snowpants. I haven't used the socks yet but guys who have say they make your feet sweat and you'll have to go up in boot/shoe size to accommodate. Get some winter/windproof boots and the freeze out sock liner from cycle gear.
Keep up the good videos. I've been considering a channel myself. We visit the smokies every year. Maybe I can catch you down there and go for a ride
We have been using Gerbing Heated Gear in the PNW for over 16yrs, we ride all year, benefits include not wearing too many layers to stay warm and when it rains (most time here in WA, state) heat helps to keep my leathers dry. Well worth the investment! Ride safe!
Do you know if I can keep the larger say blue fuse in if I just wear one garment ?or do I need to change the fuse every time I drop a garment ?
Fortunately all the bikes I bought were used and good bikes but the previous owners to all of them already had a battery tender plug connected that was a big help. And that heated gear you have is well worth the money enjoy be safe
Every year I look for heated gear hoping for a clearance sale, so expensive. Great videos
Tall this one of my fav videos you have done! So informative and timely. Thanks for always putting out great content! Wrap the red wiring with electrical tape to cover the red.
Excellent video and great choice of products. I would run 20 amp fuse. Right now with Jacket and gloves 10 work and adding pants allow for 15 with dependability. A fourth header when you do the math you are over 15 amp however it will only go if both are up to max. If you do the math you will see that 4 heaters will be upper 15 - 17 amps. The gloves feel better and are even better fitting after some heat cycles and when they are turned on when riding. Last thing I would try to find socks over the heels because I found it is the same principle as grips versus gloves. You have lowers so it won’t be bad but socks are way better.
Thanks for watching and for the advice.
@petelarrier1811 do you know if I can keep the 20 amp fuse in if I wear just the jacket or pants ? (say I don't run the socks and/or gloves)
Ok reviving a zombie thread but I just got some Gerbing gear for Christmas and OMG. One of those things I wish I would have done years ago.
At the 24:10 mark of your video you passed the cabin we stayed at when we brought the bikes down there to ride for a week in September of 2018. We had a great time riding the surrounding roads.
Yes heated gear is the true I love mine even though it's the Hot wire brand but it works great. Jacket, pants, and gloves. I even have a pair of Firstgear heated socks that works great with it. Always good video..... 👍🏾
I appreciate you so much for doing this video. I'm going to get it for my husband.
Excellent Heated Gear. The gloves look great.
-Gerbing Vangard heated gloves
-Gerbing 12v heated Jacket and Pants liners
-Gerbing Battery Connector
-Gerbing Dual Controller
The jeans don’t retain the heat as well as the leather gloves and jacket. I have the same gear and it saved me riding from Oklahoma to Virginia.
Awesome vid! A permanent black marker will do wonders on that red plug. I had to do that before myself.
Gerbing is a good choice. That's all I've had for the past 20 years. Still works like a champ. With the heated gear you will be able to ride earlier and ride later! Great video. I can't say enough about heated gear. Well worth the money if you love to ride all the time.
Great video and awesome roads/sights, thank you for sharing! Quick black paint can fix your red cables, I agree it should be black!
Nice review tall… ordered mine last night…
Hi bro good job but you should first positive terminal connected than negative terminated as well
When you eventually do have a problem, Gerbing’s repair service is awesome. I’ve used it twice thus far with great success.
Beautiful bike man I just ordered the liner I like the 12v battery idea I think I'll do that my self
I'm surprised you didn't go with Hotwired. I got the gloves, pants, and jacket liner. All 3 are interconnected and individually controlled. Connects directly to the battery tender plug ( and it's not RED) LOL.. Works fine and I love it.
Great video Tall. Thanks for making it. I have always wanted to ride in the mountains in Gatlinburg. Wife and I love it down there. We try to go a couple times a year.
I found just having a liner was good enough for me, don't have pants yet and I have heated grip so I'm ok, but I'm in BC and we have lots of snow around but the heated vest gives me right up until there snow on the ground before winter and eight after the sweeper are out in the spring, so I get about 2.5 extra months on the bike with it. Yes they cost a little but the enjoyment you get from riding makes it worth it, cheers Tall, 😎😎😎
Nice review I’m up here in Michigan and have been looking for some cold weather riding gear . Already got the itch to go riding but we have a different winter here . So stay safe and ride on 👍🏻👍🏻
I'm Michigan too... heated gear would b good for us in the early spring but winter I'm not riding streets to cold and we have ice to worry about.
Im in MI also been thinking about doing the same for the last couple years to extend my riding season.
Tall I have the heated gerbring heated jacket liner and love it. Use some heat shrink on that red wire, that should hide it. Oh whatever don’t put that jacket on high, did that by mistake and had to pull over, felt like we were frying, lol. Love the Smokies ride from Louisiana quiet often for some beautiful riding.
Definitely worth it for all year riding here in the UK. I have used Keis heated clothing for many years. I have attended the Dragon Rally in Wales at minus -5 degrees centigrade no problem 👍
Good video. I inherited a Gerbing jacket from a brother in law that passed recently. Had some questions on how it worked and hooked up, you answered them all. Will be adding some gear this winter.
Cool screen name, fits you to a TT.
Thank you for the review. I'm sold.
Hi 44 tall! . You got hat !. Very nice
The plug is red for, I'm guessing, you don't confuse it with the black plug for battery tender. They look very similar shape.
You want colder come to Michigan we are in the 20s lol. But I'm loving your new gear.
You always have great videos keep it up I own a 2020 street glide and this is the firsts year I’ve purchased heated gear (hot wire)
I looked at hotwire, how warm are the pants?
@@TravelingTall very comfortable
Beautiful riding scenery
We have stayed at those condos you passed on your way up to ski lodge. That’s a narrow road to in those curves.
Good review, good test drive and feedback. Good video all around. Thanks.
Gerbing has lifetime warranty, I've been using the liner for 10 yrs.
No longer ride, but love following your videos. If you haven’t considered it you should check the amp capacity of your system to supply the bike, your 15amp clothing draw an your other accessories. Enjoy your site !
I love my HotWired gear had it for about 5years.
Well I put little back tape around it, then when do not need it tuck it back under the seat. Have fun be safe.
Tall, on my Gerber gear the jacket and gloves are together and the pants and socks are together. I use the jacket and gloves a lot by themselves.
Great videos. was looking for heated gear. as far as the red pigtail go to the electronics store and get some shrink tubing to fit and that should take care of the RED
I have been eyeing up heated gear for about 15 years now but havent pulled the trigger yet mostly due to finance and cost. Seems like every time of year I want it, Christmas cost is around the corner. When I finally get money in the spring its warming up again so I spend the cash elsewhere lol. Ugh, one of these days......
You need some chaps. Thanks for the cold weather review. Something to think about.
Nice keep up the great videos
Tall I do little things to my bike and I get happy like you do like a fat kid that was just handed a piece of cake. I can't keep up with you big man I'm speed shifting over here. Motivation
Nice video Tall I am looking into getting the same gear. Keep up the good work!
I don't like the plug in cord hanging out either when I'm not using it. I superglued two 10mm x 2mm round magnet dots I bought from amazon to the plug and it keeps it tucked nicely under the tank until I need to use it.
California heat makes a very good product, lifetime warranty on all electronic pieces within The garments , two years on the control module. I use the liners also with the control knobs instead of the digital buttons, I can feel them better with my gloves on. If you ride on the cold this gear is a game changer
THANKS TALL ! I enjoyed the ride !!
I been looking at heated gear. The brand I’m looking at is Venture Heat. They are cheaper than Gerbing typically because of sales but gonna start with a jacket liner first. Great video! Thanks for sharing all the detail. Ride safe and stay warm 😎👊
Get you some black heat shrink and cover up the red so you don't have to worry about them..
I have had heated gear for a few years. I went to Voltheat.com. look for the 12volt Moto liner. for 199$ you get the liner and all the battery hook ups plus thermostat. I have the thermostat velcro to the tank. I get on the bike and connect the liner, turn it on and i start feeling the heat. I also bought the gloves from voltheat.com. like i said had them for 2 years i love it. People think im crazy riding in 15degree weather but im toasty.
Hey Tall, Gerbing makes heated gear for Harley, at least the older version, I finally installed it one my bike this year, love it, BTW the Harley branded barrel connector that connects to the battery is black, not red :)
Red tip used to let you know it’s for heat? I know it’s also a specific connector. Black would have been better.
Gerbing makes a black adapter. They also make an adapter that quick connects into the stock Harley trickle charger pigtail. Check the Gerbing website.
How are y'all set for trout streams, thereabouts? If that heated gear is going to have out on the roads later in the day keep a watch for those deer on the roadway.
Hey ho Tall. I’ve been using Gerbing here in the uk for years. 1 degree cel here today and off to work at 0300. Gerbing do a black battery hook up lead. Link as follows.
You could take a black permanent marker and cover the red if you wanted to. Be safe!
I couldn't agree with you less that red colour wire makes no sense... Good content brother .
Hey Tall fyi I looked at revzilla and they have the battery harness in black as well
Very nice brother, great info 👍👍
We had the gerbing heated gloves and picked up jacket liners for Xmas. Hope they work well in colder weather. My question relates to the pant liners. You mentioned velco at the bottom, but I thought I also saw a zipper down the pant lets towards the bottom. Can these pant liners be worn OVER pants and put on/removed like rain gear (wear you can get them on/off over boots by zipping up the pant legs) instead of underneath?
Hey Tall, how come you never include the links for the products you review? Sure would be helpful “ 👍🏼👍🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Ok try to remember to do it on the next video. Thanks for watching.
And he said where he got it from at the end of the video.....
I was in pigeon forge last weekend, had a blast...just wish I was on my bike
I don’t ride in the 20’s but I would like to ride in the 50’s or 60’s.
Id like to see a video of how the gear is doing a year later. I'm now in the market for heated gear. Thanks
Best invest i have made for riding, only thing my first gear gloves heat better then gerbring gloves, check-out the gerbring outlet in NC!
Where is it at in North Carolina?
Gyde supply is a division of gerbring in Greensboro on elm st!
Take a black sharpie to that red cable that will mask a little bit!
i fixed mine so i could plug it into battery tender harness.....most bikes have battery tender plug
You still liking the heated gear? Just went to Las Vegas and back a couple weeks a go and it was cold. Thinking about getting some Gerbing gear.
Great video! What if you wrap it in electrical tape? That would get rid of the red look at least.
Do you swap out fuzes as you shed gear? If yesturday you had the glvoes/soles/jacket/pants and today you just have the jacket and gloves, do you change fuzes??
Good video
Tall what kind of helmet you rocking brother? Man Tennessee has some beautiful views and, one of the prettiest states to ride in that’s for certain!! Thanks for the vide!!! I won’t be riding for a while as I’m in No. Central Wisconsin Brrrr Brrrrrr 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Great video, shrink wrap that red plug in black
If you could do bars and heated grips ‘or’ Boom GTS, which would you do first?
Gerbing makes wire that mounts to a panel with only a nut and black rubber cover. Much cleaner look for a bike like yours and no red showing! Jfyi
Those wheel are hittin bro
Just came thru Knoxville Tall .... !!
That 124 Sounds great
How about the touch screen operation while riding? That’s the biggest problem I have with any winter gloves. Can you give us a ball price for all you have?
I noticed in your video about the Garbing heated gear you had on the pants liners and riding jeans. Are you wearing the heated liner on your bare legs or do you have to wear a base layer, the heated liner then the riding jeans? Thanks! I bought a set from Gerbing and I think they offered a 20 percent discount if you buy the set. Also, did you buy the 12v portable battery for your pocket? If so how does it work?
Ever buy the Harley battery adapter it’s $18.00 and comes in black
Hey tall spray the red plug with some black plasti dip 👍
i just seen the size in the jacket it said xl-l i have long arms how does the linerfit
Great information 👍🏾
Hey Tall, why don't you have speakers in your saddle bags?
Have you ever used the controller to heat seats?
I think I would get the pocket battery though. I don't like eyesores
afternoon Tall, i am 6'2 and the pants what size did you get for your pants and your liner, someone told me for the jacket liner do a 3xl and for the pants as well can you help out another tall guy
Like that seat you have im 6/3andhalf what the name of your seat and who made it?
Although Gerbing has been around for many years, they are the most EXPENSIVE, like HD...lol With modern technology, their are many more reliable and less expensive heated gear. I have a jacket liner from HotWire, (from Cycle Gear), which comes with all connections and controls.. HotWire offers all the heated accessories a person would need. I wear Snow mobile pants that are insulated, wind proof and water repellent. 1 more thing I have a Heated Seat and NO grips... I'm 72 and live in Mid Ohio, I ride all year long, as long as their is NO SNOW. I've been in temps as low as 38* and am as snug as a bug in a rug...lol Ride on and ENJOY brother... HotWire's connections are ALL BLACK....lol
Could use black tape around the red if it’s thats bad lol I have a red pin stripe on my RG so probably wouldn’t be that bad
With all the electronic add ons you’ve done did you need to upgrade the stator?? If you haven’t do you feel you need to.
That’s a good system I use the HD heated gear and have the pants instead of the pant liner and my system is controlled by a wireless controller , dude you have a rats nest of wires under the seat ride safe
My question that I still can't find the answer to is this : if I run the big blue fuse for pants, jacket, gloves and socks, Can I just leave that fuse in if I decrease the # of items I wear ? Like say I then just want to wear the jacket, do I need to remove the seat to get at the fuse every freakin' time ?! any help anyone would really really be appreciated , Patrick
Say Tall, have you checked Biker Rags for outerwear? Thanks for a good video and review. God bless
