I'm always surprised to hear that people consider Ampharos to be unpopular when I always use it as the token Electric-type on my Johto team.

I really dont get how some pokemon apparently were once human, but every pokemon comes from an egg.
If every pokemon comes from an egg, where do those eggs come from? Many believed Mew was the answer, although because of how Mew doesn't breed, I feel perhaps Mew created humanity. Original Yamasks were human although they were able to have children.

Meganium is a menace in generation 2. The grass type has a lot of weaknesses, but of the starters, it learns the best moves by far (except maybe Charizard).
I love more of the grass type starters than the others but its not my favourite typing... Venusaur,Meganium,Torterra,Serperior... and so on.
I Think other starters are great but in general design the grass types win imo.

@@J122J95 I agree that chespin is the best first stage starter, but quilladin is too bad looking, while greninja may be overrated, it still has a better design than chesnaught. though that's my opinion.
You forgot to mention one thing about Magikarp's backstory. In the Chinese legend it is also said that if a karp that has transformed into a powerful dragon uses it's new power to do bad and goes on a rampage, it will lose the status of a dragon and become a mere serpent. (Apparently serpents aren't as cool as dragons according to Chinese folklore) And what else is Gyarados known for if not going on rampages? That's why it's typing is only water/flying and not water/dragon.

Ok NINETALES might get ignored a lot. (It's one of my favourite Pokemon and the alolan one also is soo pretty) but ampharos is not at all unpopular it's soooo popular and so many people use it in their playthroughs, and yes I know that the mega of ampharos might be the thing that makes ampharos loose its popularity but it's still amazing in my heart. And btw I loved the bronzong backstory it's so unpopular but has such an amazing backstory. I love dobbs.

Luna Satrlight I prefered the original form. Alolan form didn't make sense. It's not a tundra or anything, yet it still survives.

Regular Ninetales is a pretty trash Pokemon tbh. It's a fire type with moderate Sp. Def and Speed and average in all other stats? It looks cool, but the best word to describe it is 'outclassed' by literally everything. If you're going to have a fire type on your team, you don't want it to be Ninetales because every other fire type has better stats suited for it's typing, and every other speedy tank in the game does it's job better than Ninetales. Ninetales is just a really bad case of being screwed by the Special Stat split in Gen 2.
It honestly is my favorite Pokemon aesthetically. But it really just isn't worth it to have my fire type spot being filled by such a lackluster pokemon.
@@royalcat10 Disagree cause drought. 50% boost to fire attacks and 50% reduction to water attacks without wasting a turn. So it actually does quite a bit of fire damage per hit and protecting itself from its biggest weakness while keeping its speed. Granted i dont play competitive but a ninetales with drought is totally viable getting through the game

In general they are least picked. My reasoning of them not being my first choice was that there was a greater chance of getting a grass faster then water or fire type. Just cause you go through a forest or lots of grassy path which contain a grass type or two just in case you need one for a gym.
Of coarse in later gen games they are making it so much easier to find more water and fire. (Started as gen2 er and went back to gen1)

It’s stated in the main game and anime that Ninetails and Vulpix have extremely long lifespans, and it’s kinda implied that most Pokémon can out live humans or at least live just as long as them. Their have been many instances of old people reuniting with Pokémon from their childhood, while they are old and weak the Pokémon still looks youthful and acts like it too.

Jackson Cross no, he said that Alola ninetales completely overshadows regular ninetales that is why it is on the list.
Ninetales has been unpopular ever since gen 2, and only ever came up again with it's Alolan form. Regular Nintales is a Fire type with moderate Sp. Def and Speed, and average everything else. Making it a speedy, fire Special tank with mostly offensive moves. Obviously absolute trash combo. It was usable in Gen 1 because Special was 1 stat, but ever since then it has been an absolutely abysmal Pokemon. It's Alolan form corrected this, but it's Kanto form remains trash.

Probably the same reason why Gyarados isn't a Dragon type. Gen 1 and 2 meant Dragon Types to be overpowered AF, that meant having them be few and having to be hard/special. Catching a level 6 Mareep on your fifth route and having it be a Dragon Type before the 4th Gym would probably make the game waaaay too easy.

Neither Ninetales nor its backstory are unpopular. Kyubi Foxes from Japanese Mythology are extremely popular & Ninetales is no exception with its epic curse backstory that served as most of the 1st Mystery Dungeon game's plot. In battle sure it got screwed over some statwise starting in Gen2, although its still an awesome pokemon to have if you're running Sunny Day teams. With the Alola form being great for Hail Teams.

Chikorita has always been one of my favorite Pokemon. Before X&Y came out, I put her at #2 of my top 10 Pokemon list, as I was always able to beat Falkner with her so long as she was lvl 9 or higher, and she kept me from struggling against the infamous Whitney. Plus she's just so cute, and the little crush she had on Ash in the anime was adorable

The Voltorb theory is wrong tho. Pokémon is an RPG, and many, many of the Pokémon are plays and variations of classical RPG monsters.
In most RPGs, you would find loot and items inside treasure chests. In Pokémon, the only place where you find items is in Pokéballs. So we can make a connection that Pokéballs = Chests... What kind of monsters disguise as chests? Mimics.
And it is very easy to see the connection. You try to open the Pokéball and get attacked. The fact that it also explodes also makes it double for a booby trapped chest.
Voltorb and Electrode are pretty genious designs to me.
jpcsdutra but they could've been so much better. They could have made voltorb evolve into a great ball, and then into an ultra ball (and the mega evolve into a master ball 😆) instead of just... turning it upside down. They could have given it some kind of robotic limbs where it goes in and out (somewhat like magearna) to make its design more interesting instead of just nothing but an akward pokeball with eyes. Just some thoughts.
TBH their design must probably pre-date things such as multiple ball designs. Even the size and weight aspects of the Pokédex. In gen 1 they had limited budget, space, time, pretty much limited everything. If they didn't retcon it in gen 2 by making it a steel type, I don't think it was ever meant to be anywhere near robotic.

in real life magikarp is really popular but in the pokemon universe its unpopular. its pokedex entry in X states "its virtually worthless in terms of both power and speed. its the most weak and pathetic pokemon in the world."
I think voltorb is actually a rotom possessing a pokebal. Much like the rotom dex in sun and moon.
Failure Artist maby there used to be rotom's in kanto but nau they are all gone beacose the only place they used to live in was were the pokebals were made. And rotom's are deskribed to be very cureos, so they toke over the pokebals end got stuck.

Chikorita looks bland, uncreative and hard to look at, and is horrible if we are just talking about how good it is. Ninetales is also bland and generic, making it unpopular because it's not very special unless you look at where it comes from. Plus they aren't really necessarily"cool looking".

Correction: Kitsune (kit-sue-neh) is not actually a Japanese legend in itself. The word itself (alongside the Kanji symbol you correctly showed) simply means "Fox".
The legend you speak of stems from Japanese folklore where foxes are commonly depicted as powerful beings with various special powers. These are also called kitsune but only because they still resemble foxes by appearance, rather than kitsune being the name of the legend itself.
The correlation between the word kitsune and the legends/folklores is done mostly in English slang; If you'd mention the word to a Japanese person most likely they would think of your standard red fox as opposed to a special mythical foxlike being with multiple tails.
I should also add that not all stories are alike as there exist several different depictions of mythical kitsune in Japanese folklore so it can be hard to generalize too closely beyond them usually having some fun of magical colors and a number of tails that increase with either age and/or level of wisdom, 9 tails usually being the iconic "final form" and 5 or 7 also being rather common as a more average middle-ground tier.

5 Tails & 7 Tails, I have yet to encounter Kitsune with those numbers, although I've heard a few cases of 6 Tails other than Vulpix. 3 Tails is also more common than the 5 or 7 tailed foxes from what I've seen.

Dadax gyrados in gen 1 was a dragon and later the dragon type was removed and aded flying type(I don know why since gyrados don't learn any flying moves and still able to learn dragon type moves and come on dragon/water was a really cool type combination)

I think a good argument can be made for all of those Pokemon being unpopular can be made. EXCEPT FOR NINETAILS. How in the world can it be considered unpopular? It may have been slightly overshadowed by Alolan Ninetails but I think that is not NEARLY enough to make it unpopular!

True...If a human had such a beastly attitude that they had enough nerve at one point to touch ninetails’ tail they probably weren’t a polite person. Therefore they may have littered; thus creating the conclusion that they were stuck inside a pokéball as involuntary penance for leaving unsuccessful/used pokéballs in their wake.

I believe that voltorb was possessed by a rotom because most rooms were you can change rotom’s form are in pokeball factories. Most rotom lived there and when poke balls were first invented they became trapped inside of them. This would explained why the only place were you can find rotom are in abandoned places were the pokeball technology might not be found. It’s eyes are still like that because it is mad, duh.

A prism (Necrozma) plus the power of the sun (Solgaleo) and the power of the moon (Lunala) equals the backbone of the Philosopher's Stone, which in alchemy has the power to control AZOTH (very similar description to Infinite Energy and Z-power), which is somthing which may or may not be more powerful than God (Arceus), and would beat Ninetails in omnipotence. Oh, and Necrozma would probably be the one in charge, and some idiot completely broke its mind and sanity a long time ago. At least Necrozma doesn't have any Cosmic Power on its own (seriously, it does not learn that move, while Cosmoem and its evolutions do. It could really use Cosmic Power, since Necrozma is quite durable (particularly since Prizm Armour makes weaknesses only hit 50% harder than neutral hits) and learns Stored Power, which with Cosmic Power used 6 times becomes a base 260 move).
