This is one of my favorites from them. It’s a great song to hear live, the entire crowd singing along and the lyrics definitely grow on you every time you hear it. It’s a great song that showcases their evolution as a band both instrumentally and lyrically. The group vocals are so perfect. I really think listening to this album from Toh Kay’s early release of it while having to wait for the record company to let Streetlight release their album really made me love this song even more because the lyrics were more emphasized in the acoustic version. Then the album dropped and you got all the horns and bass and drums that the acoustic album lacked and it really made me love it even more.
Oh, hell yeah, Ren suggested this one then. Man has excellent taste. I always thought about war movies during that middle section, like when a protagonist gets shell shocked and he really realizes how fucked up the whole situation is. There’s usually some weird, discordant sounds like that going on in the background. And that imagery fits the lyrics _really_ well. But I get the jungle thing, too, now that you’ve said it. The drummer really channels that vibe. I didn’t _super_ love this song when I first heard it, but it did eventually become a top tier song for me after a few listens. There’s a lot of subtle nuance with the instrumental throughout that’s hard to catch at first. Which is true of most songs on this album, to be fair, which is why it’s my favorite album. I’m glad you guys have been enjoying this band. Nobody else on RUclips has reacted to more than a couple of their songs. You’ve gone the deepest into their music, by far. Maybe one day you’ll make it through their entire discography! Much love, boyos.
The middle part with the crazy jungley always reminds me of violent femmes- black girls with its craziness. Also rest in peace to the trumpeter for streetlight Matthew Stewart. An amazing talent
Did you know they lost a band member ? The trumpet player Matthew Stewart sadly died in september. I'm so glad I got to watch him live. You have to go to a show! There is not a lot of good live footage online. A couple I can suggest to give you an idea: A Moment Of Silence live in San Francisco (the SF you suck at tempo one) and Watch It Crash live in Montreal 2022 (I was there ha!)
Yeah, there was a really cool picture on the subreddit of the spot he stood in with a spotlight coming down on it. I guess after the show. I hate to hear that, I didn’t know him but I hear he was a really stand-up guy.
I just saw them in LA. The show ended with the lights dimming and his spot onstage in the spotlight with his trumpet and towel hanging from the mic stand.
please some Catch 22 from the album keasby nights, the whole album is a masterpiece and the band was a shell of itself after singer and drummer left for streetlight. Tho the remake of keasby night by streetlight isnt as good as the original... in fact, for one album, Catch 22 was the perfect band playing perfect music

Been a big fan of Tomas since 2000 when I first heard Keasbey Nights.
Actually if you wanted to do toe to toe by streetlight it's about the best Matt tribute possibly
RIP Matt Stewert Thank you for melting our faces off.......

That’s the reason I made the selection. Nothing in life is certain. RIP Matt
Chuck seems lost in the jungle, so I gotta give him the brain cell to help him find his way out.
Hell yes, this is maybe my favorite song by them. Top 3 at least. Can’t wait til I get off work so I can watch this!
🤘🤘🤘
