As much as this show is about deku’s story on how he became the world’s greatest hero, this could also be interpreted as shigaraki’s story on how he became the world’s greatest villain 😈 🦹
I think MHA is more trying to get us to empathize rather than sympathize. I never felt the series tries to excuse what the villains do, but make us understand how they became the way they are and show us maybe there are ways to improve things so we don’t get more villains like Shigaraki or Toga.
You’re one of the few that actually noticed his voice change in the dub, it’s barely noticeable in the sub, so I get why they wouldn’t noticed. In the dub they made it more noticeable. Fun Fact: Shigaraki’s Speech Bubbles in the Manga were rough at first but when the moment came they became smooth.
@@nolangerrans6083 I was worried that they wouldn't, or at least not do it in the dub. Super pleased with how Shigaraki's transformation was adapted. Even his new hair. The manga creates his new white hair by using negative space, and not actually drawing the hair. The anime did about as well as you reasonably could in adapting that too.
I think the voice change is noticeable in japanese if you're a japanese person or you're good enough at japanese. When you directly compare it to his voice in S1-4 (or even games like Ones Justice that has a lot of clean quotes from him) the difference is very big.
the change is more noticeable, but i've always hated how lame and dry his older voice sounded. It was likely intentional, but it wasnt a voice i was fond of for someone i was supposed to be intimidated by.
It’s funny you mention the irony of shiggy’s hair turning white when at the same time he let go of all his stress. Some people actually used to think that Shigaraki’s hair turned white in the manga from being hit by re destros stress burden attack, but the anime definitively showed that it was his quirk awakening (which is what I thought anyway). As a kid his hair was black, when his quirk manifested it turned greyish blue, and now that it’s awakened it’s stark white. Also, they actually would have cell phones when shigaraki was young. Not only was it only ~15 years ago, but Mha takes place in a world where most culture and technology stagnated for over two centuries while others didn’t, so cell phones have likely been around for quite a long time in their world. It may look contemporary to us, but it’s actually several hundred years in the future, which is why they have such casually advanced holograms, robotics, and hero gear as those seem to be some of the few areas where technology advanced normally.
fun fact: Cults often use the idea of "being reborn" or describe your body as a "vessel" to manipulate their members! Just something to think about when you rewatch that afo and tenko scene
5:44 shiggy's voice as always been kinda raspy, like he's screaching all the time, you can notice right here how his voice changes and gets deeper. In the manga his speech bubbles were always shaky but here they turn into normal ones. Also Shiggy at the end has the drip and we're all very much fucked for season 6 (anime only here)
yeah I love that. it kinda makes me think that before this. shigaraki was more like, and this is in all might words, "a kid who's never been told no" kinda giving him a child like voice. but the moment he breaks the glove. it's like he just got that new deeper and smooth voice. bro literally gained plot armor.
plus the looks he gave re destro before and after. the before his voice dropped look was like "Okay this guy is gonna be incredibly hard to beat especially on my own. but the look after his voiced dropped was like the biggest. "you ain't shit" moment I can currently think of.
I like how Shigaraki is similar to Eri, with both of them having a mutation quirk that didn’t come from either side of their families. The only difference is who reached out to help them: Deku extended a hand to help Eri escape her horrible life, whereas AFO merely helped Shigaraki out to mold him into something horrifying, essentially wiping out any remnants of Tenko Shimura.
Also the fact that both of them killed their family members by accident, except Shigaraki with his father who killed him on purpouse. Eri killed her father, while Shigaraki killed his whole family.
honestly might not even be a mutation, could be a plant; if you're a manga reader you'd get why that's a thought, the anime removed a scene from the beginning of the last episode that would hint towards this
In MVA in the manga, there’s a scene that basically implies AFO gave Tenko/Tomura the decay quirk. I’m a anime only but I did recently read the manga version of MVA to see the changes the anime made.
Shigaraki's speech bubbles were always shaky in the manga. But after he found his confidence and remembered things, the bubbles became normal. Both the dub and sub represented his different way of speaking greatly. Shigaraki destroyed a city with one blow and now has an army on his side. Truly built different.
2:10 and most likely the person who caused the entire issue all together. See the anime skips a few scenes, specifically, one right before the intro where we see Kotaro punishing Tenko for playing Hero. BUT Tenko was out playing with his friends, how would his dad have known? Well when they're playing a person in a black suit and unmarked black car shows up, and takes Tenko home; he praises him for being such a good person, someone like AllMight. When he gets to his house he rings the doorbell and his parents answer, the man (who's face we never see btw) tell his father how he should be proud, and that one day Tenko may grow up to be just like AllMight. He then *PATS HIM ON THE BACK* and sends him inside, Kotaro says goodbye, and then the episode plays out like we saw. AFO is such an evil, petty sob, that *AFTER* killing Nana, he tracked down her only family, and destroyed it as well.
In a way, yes. People got so used that Heroes will always save them that normal citizens won't rise a finger to help others. Maybe they don't even know how dangerous and exhausting a Hero job is, because they are just spectators who only cheer for Heroes to do the job that they can't do. And when a Hero isn't close, will they try to act for themselves or just blame the Heroes for their absence? That's the dilemma in the actual society of MHA.
@@rowquerpaz8265 Exactly. Which is why Deku and co. Almost got arrested for the Stain incident, when they saved someone’s life. And still, those people could have helped Shigaraki, it’s not like it was dangerous.
I don't agree with that assessment. For one, what happened to Shigaraki happened in a localized area and is not a comprehensive representation of hero society itself. Two, All For One is responsible for grooming Shigaraki into scapegoating the larger society so that he could use Shigaraki for his own ends, and Shigaraki apparently never allowed his own views to be challenged to any degree. What really happened here was that Shigaraki was incentivized to remain emotionally invested in maintaining certain biases about the world around him, and was not willing to accept information that did not confirm his biases. Three, although I wouldn't say hero society had no flaws, I don't think there's any real reason for those bystanders not to defer to heroes (or the police) to take care of Shigaraki. Also, they live in a world where most of their population have some kind of super power and they don't know what kind of risks that could put them in. Personally, I think it might have helped if any of those citizens tried to contact the cops or a hero to come help the kid, but I don't think they had an obligation to do it.
This time, there are really only 3 characters to talk about. Shigaraki, Redestro, and AFO himself. Shigaraki- This is now the next fully mastered quirk of the league. He just went from building buster to city destroyer in an instant. But honestly, there’s no guarantee that’s even his limit for pushing it. Not that we’ll really know since the doctor is going to torture him to a greater power. But now that he has all his memories “liberated” and he is not weighed down by his suppressed past, let’s talk about exactly what Shigaraki can do with his fully realized quirk. Not only can it be any kind of contact at all so not limited to 5 finger touches anymore, to any amplification, any direction including controlled curves and perfectly surrounding things he doesn’t want to decay, and he doesn’t seem to have a stamina issue when he uses it to full amplification on top of it since he’s so used to his own recoil it doesn’t bother him even if it messes him up. This doesn’t just blow us away with how strong Shigaraki is, but how strong ANY contact quirk can be as they can all do the same when fully trained. So who is that? Uraraka, Kaminari, Shoto technically, Momo’s creations have to start from contact, and in Class B it’s Mudman, Mines, Rule, Emily, and Monoma. Each and every one of them could supposedly upgrade themselves to Shigaraki’s level. Momo has already mastered hers due to her lipid downside. The 2 strongest with that moderation is Uraraka and Mudman. Redestro- This guy just came to the conclusion that since he is always held down by the bloodline he follows, he can never TRULY be liberated in the position of leader. So he feels truly liberated as a henchman. Much to absolute bafflement of the leaders of the army from before. If Curious was alive I’d feel like she’d be one of the happy ones though as it’d make such a great story. But essentially Shigaraki is a Destro BECAUSE he was liberated. Redestro’s word still holds the weight of his bloodline though since he would know liberation better than ANYONE. Redestro also let go of his power with his quirk too since he won’t have the stress as the grand commander. AFO- So to put any speculation to bed, AFO’s true name is in fact Shigaraki, it is not a fake name. He has no need to hide his identity, since what does it matter if he’s a legend or real, due to the lack of people that can EVER stop him. Shigaraki if I am not mistaken means savior. The 1st OFA holder has the same name. And that’s just perfect for them both since one actually fulfills his name while the other acts more as a god but could absolutely be if he so chose. An all-powerful Devil AFO prefers. Which is exactly what AFO also wants out of Tomura. Which is why he raised him entitled. So he thought of himself as all-powerful, and then realized what he was truly working for. The possibility AFO gave Shigaraki decay is quite high. But the intention was not specifically for him to be a relative of Nana. That was the cherry on top. If he did give him decay, than the goal was to search for homes that were not safe. Ripe with resentment and broken emotionally. Otherwise the morals of the one he raised would eventually just surface and prevent him from going full destroyer. We don’t know exactly what AFO did after his empire of the whole country fell, but it’s not hard to believe he was a president of some kind of corporation to keep himself up top. (In the early episodes any time AFO was mentioned or shown without revealing his position in the Nomu factory, they always showed a skyscraper even though that’s not where he resided at the time.) So Nana’s son may have worked for him and he found out that way. And something as simple as inviting the boss for dinner would’ve sealed their fate. (We don’t know even in manga, but I don’t know how AFO could be so all knowing without certain resources at his disposal even with the doctor on his side.)
I’ve been saying that Shigaraki is attractive since season one. But in this battle he just got like 60% sexier! All hail the new king of the Liberation army, the age of Shigaraki has begun!
Shigaraki really has come along way since season one. He went from being a spoiled wannabe villain Mann child into a full fledged leader of his own evil organization. This is what I love about my hero academia, it gives even the antagonist time to grow stronger and developed. Also, does anyone else think Re-destro looks like a buff anime version of dr doofenshmirtz from Phineas and ferb.
Tomura is turning into the new shigaraki (The new All For One) due to the fact AFO has "Pure white hair" like tomura has now and the fact that he got a glow up from rusty crusty grey hair creep to a free, snow white hair, blood red eyes and looking like past AFO is amazing.
I have a theory that All For One is responsible for Tomura's origin. Not just by putting things in motion when he killed his father's parents, causing him to resent his mother and heroes and becoming an abusive father, but I suspect he gave the child his deadly quirk. The kid is the grandson of All Might's master and the man showed up rather quickly after this all went down. I have to assume he already found him before that point. The boy was also five when his quirk manifested and they established it doesn't happen after the age of four, though Deku claimed it wasn't impossible I got the feeling he was making it up to explain his own quirk suddenly manifesting at age 15. If anyone could orchestrate that tragedy it would be All For One. It wouldn't take much surveillance to find out what kind of a man Kotaro is. With the right quirks and a bit of stealth he could implant decay in young Tenko and wait for it to mature. Then he monitors for him for a while and wait for things to get worse. Also keep in mind that Tomura was only 20 when the series started, meaning this takes place only about 15 years before the start of the series. Cell phones should already be wide spread in Japan for decades now. I have to assume most people had them but didn't call for help. Keep in mind MHA takes place an unspecified amount of time in the future, with things getting stalled because of the chaos quirks caused. Still its over a century from the modern day. Speaking of theories there is one going around that the extra hand All For One gave Tomura belonged to Nana, but there is no proof of that.
It's never been established it was impossible after age 4, it's just rare. It had to happen sometimes for them to believe Deku saying he had developed a quirk after so long.
@@pepsi-4275 Rare? lol Almost legendary more like; no it was definitely established that the latest a quirk would manifest is 4 years old; Izuku was only 4 and they were already considering him to possibly be quirkless before he even went to a doctor a year later

@@pepsi-4275 True. That's why I'm not sure. However I wouldn't put it past All For One to pull this sort of stunt and I still think he found him too quickly.
I wouldn’t be surprised if AFO have Tenko the Decay quirk. That was always a popular speculation since this arc came out in the manga and we saw a man in a suit return Tenko home to his family. The fact he found Tenko so fast at least suggests AFO found the Shimura family and been monitoring them in some capacity.
Hand explanation When Shigaraki touched the two hoodlums, he ended up destroying on of their hands in the process. All For One probably went and found someone else, killed them, and brought their two hands as the replacement for the one Shigaraki ‘earned’
Not really. Shigaraki destroyed one of his father's hands before that. When AFO explained to Shigaraki how his quirk killed his family, Shigaraki got close to his father's hand and he destroyed it after touching it. The fifth hand was more likely a replica from his father's hand that the doctor made to replace one of his father's.
there were 14 hands in all; ALL of them are real; you just gotta wait and find out who's the fifth hand was that replaced his dads disintegrated one lmao
I liked very much the battle between Shigaraki and Sanji. I mean... Re-Destro.😅 I remember Re-Destro's japanese voice actor is the same one who does Sanji's voice in One Piece. And it kind of fits, they both share some similarites. Both characters wear elegant suits and Re-Destro ended up loosing both of his feet, while Sanji's master, Zeff, lost only his right feet.
His hair changed the first time because of the immense stress of killing his family (It's called Marie Antoinette Syndrome). This time I imagine it was the immense relief of letting go coupled with his power evolving
I think it's his quirk, people with mutation quirks have white hair and red eyes. When Shigaraki's quirk manifested, his eyes and hair changed colour, but because he repressed his quirk it didn't change all the way. Here, after remembering his past and feeling liberated/free/letting go and using the full extent of his quirk, his transformation is complete and his hair goes completely white. The scratching is because of stress though.
In my pov (MY pov), villains are powering up more than heroes, i understand Deku is stronger with black whip and all, but now the villains got new powers, a golem aka gigantomachia and all, i am curious to know how the show will go on and the future battles
Here is hoping that the movie will start streaming or get released soon so you can watch it. I've already bought tickets, but I can understand if you don't want to go to the theater. I have yet to see it, but I'm going to assume it takes place before the end of this season. At the very least before the start of the next.
Yeah I still think league of villains is a better and simpler name than meta liberation front and I'm not the only one thinking that. I mean the liberation front sounds too political for my tastes, when it comes to villains. But then again, I I'm not really into politics so what do I know when it comes to anime and the culture of it.
Well that's the thing, they're trying to get rid of the villain name. (one of the main reasons the name was chose was to get rid of the villain part.) It is supposed to be political, they're trying to forcefully take over and make society what they want it to be, they are quite literally a militant organization.
Sadly, i have a big backlog of shows that I want to finish up, before starting something new, new. I'll be doing a special reaction on halloween, but past that, i'm focusing on Dragon Maid and Beastars.

Also the anime skips a few scenes, specifically, one right before the intro where we see Kotaro punishing Tenko for playing Hero.
Lmao that was me too when Tomura’s voice changed in the dub I was like woahhhh
Hand explanation
When Shigaraki touched the two hoodlums, he ended up destroying on of their hands in the process.
@@rowquerpaz8265 that makes sense
It’s something else
Spoiler:
It’s one of Nana Shimura’s hands
@@rowquerpaz8265 lol you're an anime only aren't you?
there were 14 hands in all; ALL of them are real; you just gotta wait and find out who's the fifth hand was that replaced his dads disintegrated one lmao
I have decided after I finish this season I will wait for season 6 to come out. While I am waiting I will try watching Demon Slaughter

"it makes more sense now, i understand" okay so am i the only one who doesn't get it the hair changing colors? ;)
Probably his decay affecting his body
His hair changed the first time because of the immense stress of killing his family (It's called Marie Antoinette Syndrome). This time I imagine it was the immense relief of letting go coupled with his power evolving
it's called stress my guys lmfao
I think it's his quirk, people with mutation quirks have white hair and red eyes. When Shigaraki's quirk manifested, his eyes and hair changed colour, but because he repressed his quirk it didn't change all the way. Here, after remembering his past and feeling liberated/free/letting go and using the full extent of his quirk, his transformation is complete and his hair goes completely white.
The scratching is because of stress though.
That was amazing I can't wait for more
They are in the the future so like 2200-2400 so they must likely did have phones
Awesome reaction, when will u post the last episode?
In my pov (MY pov), villains are powering up more than heroes, i understand Deku is stronger with black whip and all, but now the villains got new powers, a golem aka gigantomachia and all, i am curious to know how the show will go on and the future battles
So should I spoil or not it’s your choice
@@OKOK-bs6jk LOL no spoilers pls
@@arthuxoliveira3344 one small thing is that both end up powering up
Here is hoping that the movie will start streaming or get released soon so you can watch it. I've already bought tickets, but I can understand if you don't want to go to the theater. I have yet to see it, but I'm going to assume it takes place before the end of this season. At the very least before the start of the next.
HEY zamber I recommend the show KIPO And the age of wondebeasts
Have you watch mha heroes rising yet, if not can u watch(it is crazy) 😆
Yeah I still think league of villains is a better and simpler name than meta liberation front and I'm not the only one thinking that. I mean the liberation front sounds too political for my tastes, when it comes to villains. But then again, I I'm not really into politics so what do I know when it comes to anime and the culture of it.
Well that's the thing, they're trying to get rid of the villain name. (one of the main reasons the name was chose was to get rid of the villain part.) It is supposed to be political, they're trying to forcefully take over and make society what they want it to be, they are quite literally a militant organization.
oh god
oh its the first time i i am the first to comment on a channel with more than 100k subs lets go
It's Nana *Shimura,* not Nana *Shimuru.* :")
When you finish my hero academia can you watch centaurworld it is a great show
Sadly, i have a big backlog of shows that I want to finish up, before starting something new, new. I'll be doing a special reaction on halloween, but past that, i'm focusing on Dragon Maid and Beastars.
Okay thank you
