    LEATHER SATCHEL - Step by Step, Easy DIY Bag (FREE PATTERN & Tutorial, and Giveaway?!)
    Ever wanted to try and make a rugged looking satchel that will be the talk of the town? I got you! Download the Free PDF Pattern and I will walk you through step-by-step, from pattern construction to completed bag.
    This bag measures approximately 13" Tall by 14" Wide by 4" Deep.
    This project is in partnership with Tandy Leather. Tandy Leather approached me this last year to construct a bag for a western period piece short film. The production team gave me tons of creative input on what the bag might look like, so I concocted the idea that the main character, an outlaw on the run, would have snatched up something like this satchel. I've seen a bag like this online that was a post-civil war era satchel in this format, or with a connecting piece to be slung over a horse as saddle bags. So, you can make two and throw over your horse, bicycle, motorcycle, or large dog? Up to you.

    This channel is about sharing how I craft leather goods in a way that hopefully inspires others to pursue their passion. For me, the word "legacy" has grown to mean 'to pass the torch.' That can be sharing a passion, craft, or heirloom with the next generation. My hope is that by showing, for example, how I cut my leather goods or saddle stitch a wallet that you might be inspired to either take up the craft or inspired to pursue whatever your current passion happens to be. I hope you enjoy and learn something about the craft.

    Love your work!!! Had my 12 yr old Son help me restitch and trim up some old holsters and gun belts in a saddle stitch with some darker waxed thread to keep the aged look. Now he's caught the fever of making stuff as well.

    I've only made a few bags, I really like some of the things you did here. The workout of turning a bag around, I hate it. I made a chrome tan tote bag for someone. This stuff was stiff, I swore I would never make that again. Unfortunately it looks nice so, I guess I'll make a Tandy run.

    Very nice bag. I really like the aesthetic. I have some similar leather and I think I'll make the bag. However, It would be good if you could post the dimensions. Keep up the good work.

      Hello! Save the PDF to your computer, open in Adobe Acrobat, Select "Print" and use the "Poster" method under the 'Page Sizing & Handling' section. Hope this helps!

    I see you burning the ends of your thread... You have probably seen that on RUclips, but that technique is for polyester thread, not linen. Polyester melts and then you can smash it into a blob that won't likely pull back through the hole. However linen, which is a natural fiber, burns instead of melting. For linen thread, apply a drop of glue on the ends instead of torching it. It is also wise to tie a knot in it at the ends if it isn't going to show.

    Is that printing paper size A3??? Thanks. great video love that...

    • @legacybrandleather
      @legacybrandleather  2 года назад +1

      This is printing via Letter Size 8.5" x 11" paper. I imagine if your printer is set for whichever method that by selecting the 'Poster' format when printing the pattern it won't have any trouble. Hope this helps!

    Thanks for the pattern. I did notice that you are tripling your work. Print the pattern, tape it together. Cut it out roughly, glue to card stock. Cut it out exactly, then place on leather, and now trace exactly, and cut leather out exactly. Too many steps repeated.
    Do what I do. Buy file folders, cut them to A4 size. Print to your laser printer, cut out roughly. Tape to leather, cut out exactly. This saves a lot of time. You are wasting motion and time.
