I’d like to add Ophilia from Octopath Traveler to this because her healing spells always heal the entire party, not to mention she gets useful defensive buffs too. She also gets the ability as a cleric to heal over the maximum HP, which is required late game.
I am surprised Mercedes from Fire Emblem 3 houses was not mentioned. She has a great range of healing magic but also can use a small bit of black magic.
I didn't have anything else on the GameCube, but man did I enjoy that game! The music, the graphics and the puzzle and exploration. I loved that game! 😁
White mages are my favorite characters to play in all my rpgs and jrpgs. My favorite white mages of all time (so far and from the games I played) are: Raine (ToS), Tear (ToA), Estelle (ToV), and Sarah (Star Ocean 4). I just love their personalities and find a little bit of me in them lol
The fact that Rosa can use a bow and arrow mix of the White Mage. Most white Mages I find are useless when they don't need to heal anyone. Rosa was the exception.
I'm just happy that Jessica made the list (she immediately came to mind when I saw the title). Hard to beat a spunky badass beast-girl. She'll kick your ass and then heal you so she can do it again. BDE indeed.
So I woke up to seeing this thumb nail on my phone and started busted out laughing. That's great work!! Also super happy my main lady is #1! Without her, Cecil doesn't make it to the moon.
Garnet from Final Fantasy IX: Final Fantasy's Disney Princess. She cares for her kingdom and while she may have the Eidolons, she's my personal healer, and I'd gladly listen to her sing Melodies of Life Elliot from Trails of Cold Steel: This young musician of Class VII has quite arguably, the best healing capabilities in the whole game, with crafts like Resounding Beat, and Holy Song in his pocket, as well as the Cannon Water Quartz as his default Quartz, in addition to the Sub-master Quartz in Cold Steel 3 and 4, you can also equip him with Alisa's Sophia for Seraphic Ring, so he can automatically revive if he dies, combined with his aforementioned Cannon Quartz. There's also his Remedy Fantasia, which heals and Revives your entire frontline fighters. One of the few male White Mages. Now, while I would love to technically classify him as a bard, I think he fits just as well as a white mage. I was also considering Alisa, but Elliot wins objectively by magical strength and defense. Sophia from Persona 5 Strikers: This cute AI daughter of the Phantom Thieves has the quirkiness and naivety of a small child, but with her accompanying the thieves on their adventure throughout Japan, she's able to sense the dungeons, and serves as your backup healer in case you don't want Morgana on your team. Also, she's the party's resident light user, which also fits the bill, and uses yo-yos as a weapon Laphicet from Tales of Berseria: A malak who had his will stripped away while tethered to Teresa, Velvet "kidnapping" him turns out to be a blessing in disguise for him as she becomes his primary mother figure, and he's capable of not only healing in battle, but standing up and healing Velvet emotionally. One of the few JRPG kid characters that is very well-written Estelle from Tales of Vesperia: Specifically the remaster, because Flynn takes over as the Paladin of the party. I love how she becomes Brave Vesperia's resident mother figure. Serena from Dragon Quest XI: I personally enjoy her and how she serves as a foil for the more feisty Veronica. Not only is she very capable of healing, but she also is a great airbender. Off-topic though, If only there was a patch where you got Veronica's original form back, so marrying her won't feel quite as awkward. Now, I did play Cold Steel 4, so I don't know if that counts as cheating, but whatever I'm putting her in anyway. Elie from Trails from Zero. Yes, I've never played the Crossbell duology, but I'm definitely looking forward to it thanks to the announcement for PS4/Switch, please be physical. But back on topic. Elie's maneuverability, and skill with a handgun certainly helps get her to a better spot to breathe and heal your party members, with her main skills being Wind and Space, she's very good at AOE. Definitely helps that she's also quite sexy. If loving her is a crime, then I'd gladly let her arrest me.
Gosh, the whole Jessica BDE thing had me rolling, mostly because it's true 🤣 Something I really enjoy about this list is, since it spans so many generations of games, seeing how the White Mage class has grown and evolved form "just heal" to having a different range of skills to become more well rounded party members. Also (trying to keep this as un-spoiler-y as possible) those stretches in Vesperia where you can't use Estelle, hooo boy do you miss her xD
My number one white mage: Ness, from Earthbound. He hits like a truck, but I mostly use him for healing by the end of the game. I think it's funny how he becomes so powerful by the end of the game, yet it's his healing that I value most (the game also gets points in my book for making Paula a black mage and not a white mage). I would also take Ronfar over Jessica any day when it comes to the Lunar white mages.
Love seeing Jessica and Raine get appreciation. And Rosa is ever the ace. Only thing I wish is that Breath of Fire 1 Nina made the list. She's awesome since she always goes first with healing spells.
In no particular order, my personal favorite healers that I think count as white mages are Jude from Tales of Xillia, Alice from Shadow Hearts, Primm/Girl from Secret of Mana, Mint from Tales of Phantasia, and this may be cheating, but Calibretto from Battle Chasers Nightwar. More giant robots should be healers in RPGs :-D Keep up the great work!
@@davidvinc When Kain said "Do I know you?" I was thinking the same thing. I was shocked by Porom's new appearance, because she looks absolutely beautiful.
I have to call out the idea that Yuna is a 'Mary Sue'. A Mary Sue is a character who the entire story focuses purely around, all the other characters don't have a character. She is closer to a Sue in X-2
I love that thumbnail and that would’ve been my second guess for what it was LOL Jessica was awesome and I hadn’t even played Lunar yet but I’m sure she will still be my favourite when I do. Rosa is what I envision every time I think of the white Mage as a character class! She’s amazing! I love these videos. :)
As we can see, the best healers are the ones that can also stand up to serious damage and also give the enemies a solid walloping. In particular they can eat undead for lunch.
Yeah... I can't imagine Morgana making the list over Makoto for any other reason than trolling. That blurb you had to read is evidence enough of that. Oh well. ON TO THE NEXT!
Makotto has her moments to shine. Her groupe defence buff is great. No disrespect there but looking at the game as a whole I got more use out of Morgana. Joker aside he is my most useful partymember only rivaled by Ann. And factoring in his super useful confidant Abillty he is defiantly my best partymember.
@@sofaris576 That's totally fair. I'm looking at these lists as more than simply "who is the best at healing?", and more at "who is the best character?". Morgana... definitely loses points from me for his characterization. But, to each their own!
@@tdblackboxx6866 Yeah I totatly see what you mean. Honestly I love his character and I could write an essay about why but I see that he looses points fore things like being mean to Ryuji and his nonsensical tempertantrum. I actully dont have anything in his defence to say there. In my case its he just scores so high with the things I like about him that despite loosing some points there he still comes out on top in my book. But like totatly understandable if others dont like him.
Pretty much agreed to all of the characters in this list. If I can say my favorite white mage in jrpg it would be Cheria Barnes from Tales of Graces. Cheria shares the healer role with Sophie although Sophie can only single-target healing whereas Cheria is multi-target healing essentially making her the main healer in the game. Her gameplay is pretty unique since she uses throwing knifes, and out of 4 mystic artes only her Garden of Innocence that actually heals and revives fallen allies while 3 of them she uses her knives to deal damage towards enemies (spoiler alert all of them are epic femme fatale esque mystic artes, personally Punishing Blossom is still my favorite mystic arte until now). Since her healing is multi-target when she first got them her casting time is pretty slow but will become faster if the player invest time on mastering her titles. On the PS3 port she receives Indignation and her accel gauge arte is Time Stop which is very useful in near death situation as when she cast an arte then she uses Time Stop the arte will instantly finished regardless of casting time. Fun fact she's the only character in the game that has stats on par with Asbel the main character Praises aside she also has some qualities that I don't like about her. Firstly, her movement speed is the slowest in game which is a tad bit annoying but her Fleetfoot/Quickness arte can alleviate it by certain time limit. Secondly, like all characters in Graces mastering their titles is a pain, well unless you have the appropriate book on the Eleth Bottle that can make mastering titles a breeze, but if not then have fun grinding on Zhonecage. Lastly, I think many players that played this game can agree with me on this one, her character growth is really dissappointing, on the childhood arc she's basically the damsel in distress which is understandable since she was sickly and pretty weak during that arc. In the first part of main arc she's actually pretty cool when she met Asbel for the first time after an incident in the childhood arc and after they defended Lhant then after that her character growth is well... bland. On Lineage and Legacies arc well she still kinda sucked I guess.
I'd just like to add Kloe from the Trails in the Sky trilogy. She is your go to healer, can debuff enemies, and best of all she has an amazing character arc. She is seriously awesome in both gameplay and story.
That was really fun, I love healers/white mage characters in RPGs and D&D. Of course my favourite is Valsu from 7th Saga, but there really is no beating Rosa!
Cool to see Palom, Raine, Yuna, and Rosa on this list. I'm surprised that Mint or Rika didn't get an honorable mention. None the less. Good video dude. Keep up the good work.
I definitely agree with the top three picks. Of those three, Yuna from FFX would be my personal favorite for the White Mage class, although I LOVE Princess Peach in SMRPG. However, I definitely agree with Rosa being the #1 pick for White Mage. I played the DS version of FFIV and I can't see how you beat that game without Rosa.
Good list, good honourable mentions. The one character that I would have added is Laphicet from Berseria, one of those rare cases of male White Mages and the first healer of the party. He's not a classical healer but the main support unit and a character that never leaves my starting lineup.
Hahaha the thumbnail is great, it made me laugh, at first glance I thought "another Garnet image", and then a fraction of second later, "one moment that's not Garnet", hahaha, great thumbnail.
I'd say Fina of Skies of Arcadia, mostly because it's one of my favorite games, but also because of how often I used her healing skills. However, as all characters can learn all spells in that game... eventually. In the late game I switched to Aiko for out of battle healing due to her self MP restoration skill.
Surprised Serena from Dragon Quest 11 isn’t here. She’s an OP healer. And I really like her personality and how it’s the opposite to Veronica. They were such a great duo. Also I actually like Morgana and think that his healing abilities on his Persona are worth keeping around. I make them auto battle besides Joker, so I use Morgana as my healer.
I´d vote for Natalie from the Epic Battle Fantasy series, she´s not exactly a WM but just a mage in general, she fulfills any role you want, her heals and buffs are ridiculous and so are her offensive magic and debuffs too, she´s legit overpowered
IMO, Yukiko is better than Morgana because both are almost identical ,but she does have advantage over him since she has Evade Ice and Burning Petals. I am getting tired of too many FF characters ,so u need to play variety of rpgs not just FF. Nara from DQIV, Marle from CT, Charlotte from Trails of Mana, and 3 males that I mentioned from other post (KC).
Glad to see Yuna near the top on this. She had the best unique of summons even if her Celestial Weapon Nirvana wasn't top tier. Surprised to not hear about Fina from Skies of Arcadia. Luna Winds is the best offensive skill for taking down mobs for a LONG time and Lunar Light is full revive/HP/Status recovery. Coupled with a Constitution Gem for Status Immune, you were hard to take down. Fiona was another powerhouse in Nostalgia. While not directly dealing damage, her support was insane. Able to give away her turn to someone else or give someone double turns later, she was the reason your damage output got so high. Really was a shame post game enemies had needlessly high magic defense, crippling both her and Melody's damage output.
Rosa and Porom were my favorites from this list. Karna from shining force 2 deserves a spot on here for being arguably the best character in the game. Raja from phantasy star 4 also deserves one due to him being in your party equaling easy mode.
I was almost going to suggest Hope from FFXIII as he has access to all Medic abilities (alongside Vanille) and the highest Magic stat, but considering you don't need a dedicated Medic very often, and Vanille is more versatile with her superior debuffs, I end up swapping her in most of the time anyway.
People undersell Serena from DQXI. To me, she's the best healer in the series cause of access to elemental resistances abilities. Also, her late-game abilities are insane. Secondly, I would've put Garnet on this instead of Morgana. Garnet is the whole reason the events of FFIX happens while Mona is more of a catalyst for his game's plot. Plus, I don't like how his arc overshadows Haru's.
Yeah I think Yuna is the best, although she’s more a summoner than a white mage in my opinion. I love Fran as a white mage /machinist. One of the best job combos is the game, and white magic really rules FFXII because of the way status effects work in the game
Oh wow I was really expecting Garnet to be #1 here. Her fanbase is rabid lol. It's nice to see the love for Rosa. Categories aside, Disgaea's fallen angel Flonne is forever the best white mage!
Dumb idea for a list. Top 10 jrpg vacations. Looking at the very best breaks for both the characters and player. Like the vacations I persona or the intermission chapter in trails to azure
ADINO FROM GEN 5 POKEMON SHE IS A GREAT SUPPORTING pokemon with healing pulse & wish to keep the team healthy & can learn almost all the screen moves excluding barrer she also has strong normal moves as well & can mega evolve into a fairy type for more support or attack
My pick that isn't already on the list: Ki from SaGa 2. As an NPC, Ki heals your party for free whenever you visit her. As a guest character, Ki doesn't just heal, she one-shots entire groups of enemies with her thunder magic. SaGa 2 is hard, especially early, when you can't afford magic, and it's RNG whether your mutant (if you have one) can cure. Without Ki, it'd be hours of grinding, inventories stuffed with potions, and slow one-enemy-at-a-time battles, just to finish the early game.
Cheria Barnes in tales of graces F is a power house of a healer, but I guess she's more of a battle mage, but garden of innocence is the only mystic arte that heals the party.
For P5 they chose Morgana over Makoto... Makoto is a capable healer, has powerful nuke magic, and is best girl. My favorite white mage/healer character is probably a tie between Flonne from Disgaea, Rosa from FF4, and the Hero from Suikdoen 2. I like white mages who can also do damage.
I actually read ppl complaining about Estelle keeps overhealing the party when that's actually a very positive quality for white mages... I initially cautious towards her because she seems very naive at the start, but she does a lot of emotional labor to her friends, which is very admirable, and I love that she is actually very platonic with Yuri. Also I believe in Ristelle supremacy!
Tear is the best Tales white mage in my opinion. Raine excels in the personality and story department, but her sluggish movements in battle make her difficult to use. Estelle and Tear are among the most combat balanced healers IMO, but Tear is the more likable personality as the way she nurtures Luke’s emotional development is similar to how Yuri fosters Estelle through hers. The way I thought was, if I could assemble a balanced team of four from any of the Tales playable characters, Tear would be my healer, no contest.
Oh man toadstool felt so broken to me in super mario rpg. Low spell cost and a full party heal that removes status ailments. Glad she was my first ever experience with the white mage class.
But if ull count it there's KING HEAL SLIME from DQMJ its the best healing slime in the whole game with the Omniheal spell to fully heal the whole party
Want to join the fun and vote too? discord.gg/NWUFCtmpfr
Eiko from FF9 with Double White.
Why did the white mage get rid of his dog?
It wouldn't heel.
Rosa is unique, being a white mage who doubles as an archer/ranger. She's similar to Kagome from Inuyasha.
I love this comparison.
But so are Angelo (Dragon Quest VIII - can equip bows -) and Marle (Chrono Trigger - wields crossbows -).
Shionne from Tales of Arise, is stated to be the main healer, while also favoring using a Rifle and Fire Magic.
Good point about Rosa. Her character may seem a bit cliche today, but she created them. She's awesome in battle
I’d like to add Ophilia from Octopath Traveler to this because her healing spells always heal the entire party, not to mention she gets useful defensive buffs too. She also gets the ability as a cleric to heal over the maximum HP, which is required late game.

Morgana: Learns the best healing spells in the game

And then he gets a badass sword.
Too little male whitemages
The way Raine’s Revitalize actually covers the entire battlefield…shes god tier

Good list. First one that came to mind for me was Rosa.
David has been on point with the thumbnails lately! 😂😂😂
yesss white mage the master class
David always makes the best list. They are informative and interesting. I believe him when he tells us have a good day. 😄
Billy from Xenogears would have been my choice.
Hey David. Your thumbnail for this vid is hilarious. I love it 😎👍
Glad to see Yuna near the top on this.
My body literally woke me up at 4am, probably for this :)
Your body is ready!
Good choices I would have added Alice from shadow hearts
Rosa and Porom were my favorites from this list. Karna from shining force 2 deserves a spot on here for being arguably the best character in the game. Raja from phantasy star 4 also deserves one due to him being in your party equaling easy mode.
Lisa in persona 2 innocent sin. Only white mage to remember that they had healing powers during a cutscene.
Glad Rosa's so high. Haven't played most of the games in the poll lmao.
Yeah i pretty much used vanille amost exclusively
Omg David the thumbnail.!!!!
That thumbnail is amazing
Morgana is pretty good in persona 5 strikers. I used him the entire game as my main healer.
10/10 I'm here for the thumbnail.
Nina from Breath of Fire didn’t even make the list, huh…
I can't with the thumbnail
Dumb idea for a list. Top 10 jrpg vacations. Looking at the very best breaks for both the characters and player. Like the vacations I persona or the intermission chapter in trails to azure
ADINO FROM GEN 5 POKEMON
SHE IS A GREAT SUPPORTING pokemon with healing pulse & wish to keep the team healthy & can learn almost all the screen moves excluding barrer she also has strong normal moves as well & can mega evolve into a fairy type for more support or attack
Gotta say, I was expecting Aerith to be at the top due to how popular ff7 is, but I was pleasantly surprised 😂
Cheria Barnes in tales of graces F is a power house of a healer, but I guess she's more of a battle mage, but garden of innocence is the only mystic arte that heals the party.
David is my favorite White Mage.
Yuri even started the ship name
I consider Jessica a cleric. Otherwise known as a white mage on steroids.
Yall missed Kloe from the trails series
Sad that Kloe or Elliott from Trails weren't on there
But if ull count it there's KING HEAL SLIME from DQMJ its the best healing slime in the whole game with the Omniheal spell to fully heal the whole party
Billy lee black and ronfar. Gotta be in there.
aeris hello?
My #1 would be Rena from Star Ocean 2.
