What could have been interesting with Blasting Fuse is that people tend to move cards to the center, making this a great surprise for them.
What you do is placing this behind you central monster and activate it as soon as they move their cards around. If they would call a judge on you, you just tell the judge that they moved cards around and the fault would be on them for breaking game rules.

There are a few ways to change which zone these cards are moved to, and some of them are actually decent cards. Magical Hats is 1 example most players may have never thought of. Not only could you change its location of the card, but you could also either get your floating effects of cards or get spells and traps in the grave that need to be there to use effects. And of course, you also have a chance to protect your monster as intended upon the cards creation. Before posting this, I did look up rulings on Magical Hats and have seen that there arent any involving monsters in the Extra Zone, nor are there any errata to adjust the text to the new rules. Hats has been 1 of my favorite cards since it was first released because I saw just how good it could be. So if anybody has new rulings or errata, please share as I would love to know so I can see about building a strategy that can use the card for support

Storm Shooter is unfortunately they only thing i could find for a generic level 7 winged-beast monster. Wanted to make decks that were old school-ish but winged beast and pyro didnt have any good monsters that were level 7 or 8 normal, ever released. So as such, I was forced to have to get a few of these. I wish we had more normal monsters just to experiment strategies with TBH. I personally like the concept of decks needing a normal monster to function in some way, but the game definitely evolved away from that.

Unpopular opinion but I wish so bad that the column cards had been really strong & become a staple part of the game. Yugioh really struggled with having a real identity for so long & it eventually coalesced around the extra deck & I think a version of yugioh where columns had become super important early on would've been so much cooler

Thay did not use the column mechanic. The effects targeted specific unused monster card zones and made it so your opponent couldn't summon to them.

I never moved my cards around in the first place and once these cards came out, during sanctioned matches, I made sure my opponent didn't either even though I didn't play card with column mechanics, since I always hated people just moving stuff around all the time. LOL I also made sure I placed cards in a way to minimize any potential damage from Blasting Fuse, just in case, and I was secretly hoping to see someone that I played having it (never did).

Mindgame in the past: tell them they need to care about columns while playing a deck that doesn't actually care about columns. They'll spend multiple turns playing around nothing

The only place where these cards had a chance was in the video games where the game automatically places your cards in the zones in the same preprogrammed order. But even then no one would use Storm Shooter, because better monsters and Compulsory Evacuation Device exist.

Saddest thing about Senet Switch is how it was more useful as a Maiden with Eyes of Blue trigger than for its actual effect. Not that it was particularly good for that purpose either because that's not much of a pay-off for running an otherwise completely dead card, but it was a niche that saw some low-level play at least.

To be fair, people moving cards around were the dumb ones back in the day. Yugioh is played with a set number of zones where cards are allowed to be placed, so you have no business in moving stuff around for no reason.
It would be reasonable to do it in games like Magic, where there are no zones, so your card placement on the field is irrelevant. But yeah, the argument "this card is bad because people break the rules" is not really a valid one. Just call a judge if they do it in tournament

So, I've thought about Senet Switch a lot, and I don't believe the cards main purpose was to actually move monsters. Given Cyberdark Impact's gimmick was effects happening on high chain links, the points of Senet Switch was to provide an consistent Chain link one with an effect so worthless the opponent would not want to try and destroy it, or needing to burn an extra card every turn. It's still bad though.

I was wondering why I never saw any of these cards.
I just realized it's because I played almost exclusively the video games that they released for consoles, and they just never included these.
Makes sense too. For one, they are pretty bad and not a lot of people liked them, but you'd have to reprogram entire sections of the game to even be able to include them.
When you don't have a lot of ROM space to begin with, then cutting them out is just the smart move.

Ironic: when we played ygo back in school, one of us had a gorz (it was meta back then), but it was not op because he always had to tell that we have to declare our attack orders :) (when we had game we always made the "i attack with all of them, thats game"-move).

  • @SWAATSFan

There were already stronger Direct Attack monsters than Alien Infiltrator, so the card would have found more use, if it had more ATK, also it's easier to have a strong big monster and just direct attack the opponent with Shooting Star Bow (and Reverse Trap)

  • @chucklesdeclown8819

I still think senet switch and darkness approaches and a bunch of other cards were unnecessarily errataed, what was wrong with darkness approaches puting the monster in face down attack position? To me it doesn't sound like it would be that hard to come up with rulings for it, like the link arrows while the monster is face down doesn't work and etc. To me it just sounds like they wussed out even though I don't think either of them would of made much of an impact.
