There seems to be an issue with the weapon cache. The trees near the railroad tracks are now all leafless and the path is somewhat different - not too significantly so the video path is still reasonable but the cache has been found to be missing. Now, I say this because I have a sandbox where the weapon cache spawned (several months ago) and when I recently went back because I figured on using a hacksaw to make metal scrap of any metal shelves, the hatch was no longer there. It is not where it should be and I looked around the top of that hill. You can't really get to the very top but I did search around that large rock outcropping that caps the hill. I would be most embarrassed if that character goes back to Mystery lake, post December update, and finds the cache hatch again. I can say I will carefully look at it and where it is since I can swear it is not where it is supposed to be (or in the vicinity).
No I have not. Someone posted a short video of where the new location was and I took a look. It was not there. Basically the location of the cache is now on the opposite side of the rocky hill top where it used to be located. Basic directions - go straight through the gap, up the hill, when you reach the ridge, turn left and head for the rocky hill, following the ridge line. I believe that the discovered weapons cache in my sandbox is now gone forever. When the landscape changed, it almost certainly overwrote the old location, banishing it to the electron bucket. When I stopped to think it through, I realized that the only way the weapons cache could appear in my existing sandbox would be if the update forced it to respawn it which would give me a brand new fully equipped cache (since it is doubtful that it could respawn a looted cache in all its variations) and I doubt that would be allowed to happen. I suspect that for existing sandboxes some caches may have been overwritten by landscape changes and therefore they don't exist anymore. It is possible that an undiscovered cache could be respawned during the Dec update, but I think the risks of an error in execution would be too great. Oh well.

There are some out of the way places to check in ML for a rifle, like underneath the train bridge by the dam and behind the Lone Cabin at the lake. Have you checked those spots?
i found my rifle behind a cabin on mystery lake next to a frozen corpse, also, trappers is usually the go-to spot for a rifle, also, i found a grip of bullets at carters damn, 2 boxes and 4-5 singles tucked in tight corners.. also at the dam, the gem of my collection, a fire starter on the catwalk in the generator room.. i wonder if the game recognizes when you need things and gives them only when you run out?

Don't know what you're talking about, friend. They're all in there. If you're referring to the last little bit where I walked back to the dam, I was just showing that we'd made a loop around Mystery Lake. There is no bunker at the dam.
The only cuts that are there are cuts to stock footage to where the bunker spawned where they put in footage of the exact same spot... I assume cus he didnt have all bunkers spawn in where he does the trek.
They have merged all of them into one so you get a bit of everything. i got loads of loot but if youre playing on the hardest 2 difficulties there may be too little loot for it even to be worth it as you might spend more resources getting there than you find
The only one I ever found was the last one in the video, I found it on an early voyager run. I only play Interloper now and don't think they spawn on that difficulty level.
Im hoping. Im still here in a 2019 and i could use a loot boost in my playthrough. Are the bunkers in relation to the difficulty setting the playyer is at?
anyone know why when i went through this twice, it did not refresh?..i went through this route..found one with a ton of food..then went back to base..dumped everything..ate/drank/slept....bottom left of the screen it said saving...i then went through the route again a 2nd time/next day..but nothing had refreshed..same bunker same location now empty
The refreshing comes in the fact that in a new game slot, you will find a bunker in another place. That's in what comes the random chance. Bunkers don't refresh their suplies in the game after you looted them.
In a wiki someone said the caches are no longer in the game for v388. I checked every one of these spots and I've got no cache on ML. Are there more possible spawns now? Are you sure you have caches in a new game started on v388? Thanks!!
I can confirm they are still there. Some locations have changed, according to some more experienced players, but I have found the weapon cache (just opposite the Camp Office; twice) and the medical (I think) cache (once) where you have to climb the rope, in three games in a row.
Sadly they seem to have reduced the spawn frequency in the newer versions... they seem to be going out of their way to make the game harder every f'cking version since release to cater to the 'hardcore' assholes. :/ Now only one will spawn per game, out of nine possible locations. I'm positive it used to be 3-4 per game.
Hmm, no? It was always two per save file, one in Mystery Lake and one in Pleasent Valley, each with 9 posible spawns, Pleasent Valley does have two caches, but one is set in stone in all playthroughs and is usualy less plentiful, this one being the cache by the climbing rope to Timberwolf Mountain. This being said, it's a little rude to call a group of people assholes for playing the game the way they like, everyone can play with the settings they want, that's one of the things that make the game great.
Only one cache in Mystery Lake, and one random spawn and one permanent spawn cache in Pleasant Valley in each sandbox. There are currently no other maps that have caches.
How many times have you tried? You'll only find one cache on this map per spawn on every experience mode except Interloper. (Caches don't spawn in Interloper.)
It doesn't matter which version you run, there will only ever be one cache in each new game you start. It's random. You may find the weapons cache this time and the tool cache in the next Sandbox game. You'll never find more than one in Mystery Lake in each save game.
No one: Stand next to bunker door. Open full map and show Location. End of the 3 second video. All gamers: make 40 min video showing shit instead the f#cking bunker.
Holy shit... i only found the last one My character injuried a few times when i was following this video, so i couldn't go back my save game... took 2 days in-game to find only the last bunker When i just lost all my hopes i found it HAHAHA I'm new in the Long Dark, so was curious to know the bunkers
The only problem is that you swerve too hard at some points, so it's confusing to undestand the way you're turning sometimes And there's some particular objects on the scenario that could help finding ourselves in the map... likes these 4 cutted down trees make a V shape with the tree at 7:05 Using these references points and walking straight can be much more easier... that's the way i did on my gameplay Apart from that, the video is perfect Thanks very much for the great work you did

Caches have temporarily been removed from the game while they revamp them.
thanks its fast and easy to now way thanks i opened this video 10-15 times thanks
I have only ever found one cache. now I know where to go I am sure to find more. Thanks
You're welcome! Be sure to let me know when you find another one. :)
Songname?
In a wiki someone said the caches are no longer in the game for v388. I checked every one of these spots and I've got no cache on ML. Are there more possible spawns now? Are you sure you have caches in a new game started on v388?
Thanks!!
I can confirm they are still there. Some locations have changed, according to some more experienced players, but I have found the weapon cache (just opposite the Camp Office; twice) and the medical (I think) cache (once) where you have to climb the rope, in three games in a row.
do these still spawn shit i been here for 3 days searching in mystery lake and none have spawned
I had found the medical one, but the wiki says it spawns only one randomly, been looking for the weapons one and I got nothing so far.
Hey you know if it still the same in 2020 sandbox or storymode??
These places for bunkers haven't changed in mystery lake in sandox. About wintermute, i think there is only a bunker location.
nice video,thx
You're welcome! :)
Great video. Playing challenge mode,,,, hope they spawn in this game mode. Haven’t found one just yet. But still looking.
Still relevant I found my cache today
1 cache per map only ? Or i try to find some to other maps to ?
Only one cache in Mystery Lake, and one random spawn and one permanent spawn cache in Pleasant Valley in each sandbox. There are currently no other maps that have caches.
I finally found it, i was going to give up . food cache 5:50
Congrats! :)
Are these in Surival mode?
Hey bro I have v.365 and I tried to find Tool cache and it is not there do you know why?
How many times have you tried? You'll only find one cache on this map per spawn on every experience mode except Interloper. (Caches don't spawn in Interloper.)
Whait do you wanna say that on this map is only one cache or??hmm which version recommend to dowloand and play ?
It doesn't matter which version you run, there will only ever be one cache in each new game you start. It's random. You may find the weapons cache this time and the tool cache in the next Sandbox game. You'll never find more than one in Mystery Lake in each save game.
ohh thanks a lot of man and btw great video ;)
hmmm bro only one more question do you know why my long dark crash after some time ?
i go to every locations seem the landscape change ??? like the oposite camp cabin there new tree....???
I know this comment was roughly 3 years ago but yes the landscape do change throughout the updates of the game but the layout is still the same
It would be helpful if the video didnt skip
For some reason I don't see the caches.
Keep looking! You're guaranteed to find one on this map in every sandbox game.
+Willowest Thanks!
Only one spawns per playthrough, and it's random which it is. That's my understanding.
zeroqp Thank you
No one: Stand next to bunker door. Open full map and show
Location. End of the 3 second video.
All gamers: make 40 min video showing shit instead the f#cking bunker.
They aren't there in the latest patch. Don't waste your time.
That is Not imortant There are still bunkers, only 1 spawns a game though. I just found the clothing one today
Bullshit...used this and no problem...all there...just different games.
just found one today, near the lake. So yep, still works
I just tried the tool cache and its gone
you only have 1 cache per game, if you didnt find the tool one, that means your game probably has some other cache around
Lol why wouldn't you show us on the map?
this was made before maps were added
Can't find bunkers.. v393 i guess they removed..
It's random and rng if they spawn so this is useless unfortunately
You have to search them onr by one
The transitioning does not help
Holy shit... i only found the last one
My character injuried a few times when i was following this video, so i couldn't go back my save game... took 2 days in-game to find only the last bunker
When i just lost all my hopes i found it HAHAHA
I'm new in the Long Dark, so was curious to know the bunkers
5:36 i did find that one i play 1.30 patch some food snare water storm lantern etc
I've been researching into prepping and found a great resource at Micaden survive system (google it if you're interested)
not very useful for finding them yourself since they skip out parts of the trip
This is the entire trip around Mystery Lake done in one trip and sped up to 6x speed. Nothing was skipped, so I'm not sure what you're referring to.
I can't find a single cache around mystery lake. Is that just random bad luck for this particular game, or are they not even in the game any more?
The only problem is that you swerve too hard at some points, so it's confusing to undestand the way you're turning sometimes
And there's some particular objects on the scenario that could help finding ourselves in the map... likes these 4 cutted down trees make a V shape with the tree at 7:05
Using these references points and walking straight can be much more easier... that's the way i did on my gameplay
Apart from that, the video is perfect
Thanks very much for the great work you did
Willowest he’s referring to the transition clips between the location with and without a cache
the one at 5:52 I can't seem to find the changed the scenery its not the same. any help would be awesome!
i did find that one i play 1.30 patch some food snare water storm lantern etc
