Really great thank you. This is the most straightforward intro to the game I’ve seen and was super informative as someone who collects but has never played. Would love to see more like this!
As a collector turned player, this is a fantastic video. Superbly edited, and clear for new players. If you're on the fence, definitely try it out!! People are always happy to help and the TCG community is great (for the most part)
As an Ex Yugioh player, i can vouch that Pokemon is much more new player friendly and super easy and cheap to get into. Shipping costs suck for TCGplayer though
I've watched a few "how to play" videos for Pokemon TCG and this is hoestly the most well explained ive seen it! I'll absolutely refer people that need an explanation to this video. Amazing stuff and thank you!
I’m 35 and just played in my first tournament this week at a pre-release event! It was a fun little taste of what could be, but I’m eager to learn more and know my stuff so it’ll be even more fun!
Just turned 30 a few months ago. I’ve played the main games since gen 1 and have even played 3rd party games(Mystery Dungeon, Unite, Pokkén, etc). This will be my first honest attempt to get into Pokémon TCG. Money was a concern before, but this recent job has just opened the flood gates lol
my friend is going to Hawaii soon for pokemon worlds and he just got me into the game so this means a lot and it'll be a lot easier to root for my friend if i know whats going on
So much good info packed into one video, for both new and existing players. I've been playing for a year and I've never thought about Prize mapping until I watched your stream on this. Watch me win worlds this year
This video was very well put together and explains the game in terms everyone can understand! going to be sharing this with other! Good luck on your current season and with rotation in April!
This is a great guide, thanks! I signed up for a pre-release tournament this weekend (my first ever time playing in-person) and was a little anxious about learning all of the rules of play. TCG live tends to take care of that for you, so the learning curve is much less steep. I found a love for the Giratina VStar deck, so I'm glad it's featured here! Not sure why it was the easiest strategy for me to figure out
I'm about to begin teaching kids at the school I work to play the game. I've never played it. We've grapped a few battle stadiums with 6 decks total, I hope they're OK to begin teaching some of the kids the game.
something I can't seem to find an answer to: Before Supporter cards existed, there were only Trainer cards, and you could use any number of them you wanted in a single turn. Obviously there's restrictions in Standard for what cards to use, but if you're playing Unlimited, are there any rules about using those older cards? Because newer Professor Oak is classed as a Supporter, so you can only use it once a turn, but OLD Professor Oak is NOT a Supporter card. So what then?
Finally a investor channel that showcases tcg! Wait.... after this ive realized i was wrong.... your a player!!!! This is so dope! I found out about u bc you showcased opposum bud.
Hi ! Im a yugioh player and started to get into the Pokemon TCG recently aswell. The rule that you get one extra Card if your Opponent has no Basic in their First hand is seems weird to me😄 Do many Players not take the +1? I cant Imagine anyone playing competitivly to reject a free +1 :D Is it dishonoring if i take it or is it less important in this Game to go through your cards fast or does it depend on Decks ? Can you or someone explain that a Bit more? good video
Maybe it's a stupid question (complete noob here). If it's so important to set up the charizard, can the deck be completely negated if your one charmeleon happens to be a prize card and therefore you can't access it? Or is there something I'm missing about what can be a prize card
You need more than the charizard as a beater to kick some butt and claim some prize cards if thats the case. Happens to me playing a kingdra EX, If my seadras are all put into my prize cards at the start, i have to rely on my pikachu EX or Zapdos EX to slug damage out and hope i can get a seadra into my hand when choosing prizes. Thats why you dont wanna load your bench with a bunch of the same pokemon and the only other pokemon on your bench is a weakling that’s ineffective compared to charizard. And play 2 types so you’re not complete countered. If you’re playing just fire type, my water pokemon and gonna wash your bench easy.
As much as I love playing competitive! The prizing is so trash😂 Pokémon is a 100 billion dollar company! They really need to set up and start adding some more cash prizing! It’s not cheap to travel around to play Pokémon cards 😂
we'll there is enough to keep you busy. i bought two deluxe battle decks to have the play mats rather having a bunch of other stuff I'm not sure is used on a tcg battle
Quick question, if I have 3 energy cards in my hand, can I attach one to each active/bench pokemon in one go? Or is it strictly one energy per turn period?
thank you, even on the pokemon channel the Mulligan(?) Rule is not explained. I bet half of the kids out there playing without drawing after the opponent gets a Mulligan.(?)

Yeah... Me and my friends didn't play this correctly in the 90's. lol

Does the phyical card game and tcg live have the same cards

Hahaha just what I needed!
I'm going camping this summer, gotta do something with my cards 🔥🔥🔥
Where's the video for the next section? This was really well done man, thank for making this.
Making Worlds is impressive for anybody, but getting there in your first year of playing something is bonkers. Respect.
I have a question can i play this game with my old pokémon cards ??? they are from 2004.
Those cards are too old even for the expanded format

also, u gotta be carefull with the rotation before building ur deck
So energies are mixed in woth your deck?
Mate SOLID info! Unreal job, give yourself a pat on the back. Very clear information. Love ya stuff
how do i slam a table?
Is there a part 2?
Can you evolve on your first turn?
kind of a long shot but do you know where i could find the vstar markers you use in the video, or who sells them?
Best tutorial I’ve seen to date. Great Work Mate
I'm curious, are there specific playstyles for each pokemon TGC Type??
This is making me want to start playing again, I have to stop being so busy
thank you

Maybe it's a stupid question (complete noob here).
If it's so important to set up the charizard, can the deck be completely negated if your one charmeleon happens to be a prize card and therefore you can't access it? Or is there something I'm missing about what can be a prize card
You would have to rely on the rare candy cards in the deck to negate the need for the Charmeleon.
You need more than the charizard as a beater to kick some butt and claim some prize cards if thats the case.

This video was super interesting and great for beginners, you explained things well!
23:14 jirachi does not protect from cresselia
it does protect your bench from Cresselia’s Moonglow Reverse, but not your Active Pokémon
can i use a different type in my deck?
Quick question, if I have 3 energy cards in my hand, can I attach one to each active/bench pokemon in one go? Or is it strictly one energy per turn period?
One energy per turn from your hand to one Pokemon (unless another card or a Pokémon’s “Ability” specifically says you can add more energies)
So this year in competitive could we still use v-max pokemon/cards with the D marking?
nope - D has rotated out now!
This is a great video! Thanks man!
this helps so much thank you. I have a compation tommorow
Pokémon was always more popular playing the games and collecting the tcg.
Whereas Yugioh was more popular actually dueling instead of collecting.
I would complain but after trying to learn yugioh this is childs play😅

charizard ex has become op af, not even fun to play if someones using it. sucks
You should add subtitles in other languages to this video so you can get a wider audience. Great work nonetheless!

how do i get the cards for a deck
Spend money, most likely way too much money to get 10% of the deck you see in this video

The last time I played poke tcg was back in about 2011. I bought some back in 2021 and said "wtf is GX??" xD
