    📒 Show Notes 📒
📒How To Wash Strawberries How To Clean Strawberries 📢
📢 Strawberries are particularly vulnerable to pesticide contamination since they are grown in the soil. And because they have no outer peel that you can remove it makes it most vulnerable to pests
📢 How to keep strawberries longer
Place the strawberries in this 3:1 Water - Vinegar solution and give it a good stir and allow the vinegar to do its job. Rest it for 10 minutes .
The vinegar that we added will get rid of mould spores and bacteria. But it’s the next following action that is really important.
We need to dry them on paper towels and wipe each of them to ensure moisture is removed. Why ? because Mould or Bacteria loves moisture. So once cleaned up put them back in a container lined with paper towel and store it in fridge . I recommend to Keep the stems of your strawberries on for as long as you need to extend the shelf life of strawberries

Wow!!!! This was most useful. And glad to see a cooking channel focus on these aspects as well as stand alone videos. And I may be repetitive here but your videos are complete in the sense - you show how to cook, tell us the benefits of the main ingredient and also tell us how not to do it. Really love those extra bit of information beyond just cooking the dish. Narration is very clear. Way to go... :)

This was really informative. I've never tried the vinegar to wash fruit. Would you clean even organic strawberries using this method? I try to avoid cleaning my strawberries until we are going to eat them, as they go bad once wet.

Hi Mama T .. thank you 😊 I wash any fruit that has no outer covering naturally .. vinegar is my go to cleaning agent for any fruits . Now for the question.. I simply don’t trust organic or not because I just really don’t know where my food comes from unless I plant and harvest . To keep them longer just ensure it’s completely dry when you put it back in the container.. I find this works for a week at least ..anything longer than that I can’t stop myself eating it out from fridge 😜

Even it is claimed organic, there will still be pesticide residue found in the produce.

I will suggest some places ..after lockdown is over come over to mylapore .. there is a store across vivekanada college called kuberan stores.. which has strawberries most of the days when they are in season .. they procure from Ooty so it’s Indian . Around the same time you will find them in Nilgris stores but only early mornings ..
