gabby, I did notice that. In the Netflix version where Laurie was driving, they put bob in the left, eric in the middle and red was driving, and boy did bob want to annoy the crap out of red.
there are at least 2 more intros not shown on this. one is mostly the same at 1:36-1:54 except leo(tommy chong) is shown driving the vista in the intro. and 2 is shown as both red(kurtwood smith) and bob(don stark) in the front of the vista with red driving and bob trying to grab the wheel with red smacking his hand in the 2nd scene of the intro.
I also notice in the latter that Eric looks at Red and makes an exaggerated, scared face before bobbing his head to the song - that always cracks me up - it looks like that cut replaced Laurie and Jackie on either side of Kelso (Laurie driving) - I wonder if that's where she left the show?
It's a shame that the later ones (which I haven't seen on television yet) couldn't have been in the car as well, I prefer that version. Was it Eric's car? That would explain why they're not using it, but couldn't they have changed the car as well?
Season 3B's open seemed very rushed and pretty bad lighting. This happened around the time the girl who played Laurie abruptly left the show. With her gone, they probably couldn't use any open shots with her in it. Perhaps they lost the original source footage and had to make a new open last minute, since they make an open that's just as well made as the rest once the next season started.

Even the final season had 2 different intros. Josh wasn't in it and kitty had her hair. Once josh came in, he was added into the intro and kitty's hair was cut short.
Been watching the series again recently and yeah I don't see that intro even on Netflix. But at the same time it seems every compilation is missing the one right after Lori left where Red, Bob and Eric are in the front seat and red actually sings and says down the street.
