I saw this man when he was a very young lad learning at a summer course where I was teaching and his teacher pointed him out to me as one of the best he had heard and to look out for him. The rest is history. Good to hear proper music being played live from beginning to end on this site too.
In response to aaronscully1995 - Gordon is wearing the Red Erskine tartan. It is the regimental tartan worn by the pipers & drummers of the Royal Highland Fusiliers, in which Gordon was pipe sergeant a number of years ago. Try House of Edgar Kilts. They might be able to get the tartan. The regimental custom is box pleats and/or pleated to the stripe in the back & not the sett.
Love,Love,Love this man,he's a Great piper ! and a truly lovely person, who I have met,and the lower coment by andrew97Z not a nice thing to put, nothing to do with you or anyone what he does in his spare time,so keep your comments to your self !! Keep piping Gordon xxxx
By the way, This wee Guy is the best Bagpipe Player in the world. No piper that i have seen on RUclips can play a 2/4 March as good as Mr Gordon Walker.
@Andrew97Z : who are you to comment on PM Walker's personal life? Plus what is the relevance of your comment? If you are insinuating his playing is not as good as it either was or could be, then you just show your ignorance. This man is playing as well as ever, and he is one of the greatest ever. You should not presume to make a comment or a judgment in relation to him, because he is one of a handful of truly great pipers in history.
+Thomas Cameron -- It is on "The Fiddle Music of Donegal" CD played by Bagpiper/Uilleann Piper/Fiddler extraordinaire Maurice Bradley of Strabane, Co Tyrone. I'll accept that we in Ireland probably have it under the wrong name.
The year was 1981, location, Newton-St-Boswells and the teacher was the late Bert Barron. Now it seems to me that someone posted a derogatory comment about this player. Let me say this, if it wasn't for the Walkers, Mac.Callums all the Morrisons,MacPhersons,MacLeods, MacDonalds etc., etc, the musical world in general would be a much poorer place. Pipers of this quality possess more music than any of the other traditional instruments and time spent with them is an education. Jealousy perhaps?
to m r nickodemus2 you are so correct no-one has the the right to comment on this pipers private life, As his cousin i dont even dare do so out of respect he is a piper of distiction and a pleasuere to listen to as a piper
Donnie Gillies Aye , and probably we wil never hear of him again , or hear him play for many years. I think he can be glad that he is not in prison , well after what he did in that High School.
Bill F. This is not the place to further discuss it , and we don’t have the right to do so. So don’t chew too hard on this guy , leave him alone , was a huge disappointment to us.
Formal, competitive solo piping doesn't get any more musical than this. Gordon Walker is a delight to watch and to listen to.
When you listen to this piper " isnt it good to be alive ".
Many thanks for posting.
Brian Jacobi.

There’s always 2 sides to a story. I’ve known Gordon for over 40 years. Shame on the lot of you.
@@cameroncurrie884 Then could you enlighten our wee minds, and tell what really happened ? We don't know anything else what the newspapers said...
