In this video, I replace the 12 year old cones on the toms with new Roland OEM cones plus, I do a performance comparison between the "After market" and "OEM" cones.

AceVenturaXii: Thanks for subscribing... you're #60. Just a quick suggestion, since you just purchased the TD-30, it's always best to start from scratch, so you should to do a factory reset before changing the cones. Whoever owned it before you, might have made some changes to the settings that could negatively affect the sensitivity and the sounds.

Are there different cones/sizes, etc, for different Roland kits? I believe the church I play at needs some work on their Roland TD-20 kit. And there doesn't seem to be any adequate info on what cones would be needed for this kit, or are they universal? Also anything that might need to be done with the Cymbals and hi-hat? Just trying to help out with some leg-work info. I was told this past Sunday by one of the audio guys, that he doesn't think anything's ever been done to their TD-20 kit, which I'd find to be incredible! I am not a drummer but I can HEAR that some of the "parts", both cymbals, and the snare, do not produce a consistent sound. I appreciate any comments.
As of this video there were 'no' size differences for my TD-20 pads... as far as the cymbals, I have had no problems (yet), with them.
So where do I buy the roland cones? The link does not work any more.

Hi, i have a roland Td-6 and i wanted to upgrade the rubber pads. I see that you have many videos with the td-6. What mesh heads and cymbals would you recommend for upgrading the td-6? Love the videos ,keep up the great work.
Hi Aaron. Thanks for watching, and the compliments. As far as pads and cymbals? Depending on your price point, the following are compatible with all versions of the TD-6: Drum pads PD80(mono) - PD80R(stereo) - PD100(mono), and the PD120(stereo) -- Cymbal pads are: CY-6, CY-12H, CY14C, and CY-15R. ---- ONLY the Snare, Tom1, Cymbals 1, 2, and Ride are stereo (PD80R, PD120, all CYs). Toms 2 and 3 are mono (PD80, PD100), so there is no need for stereo pads.
HEY! There was hardly any comparison between the two brands! Should I keep slushing through the internet looking for original Roland cones no matter what or can I end my misery right now and just get the UFO cones? Are they equal? One better than the other? Responsiveness and feel? Performance?
Hi Ace, thanks for comment. In this video I wanted to keep it short and do an in depth comparison in another video... I will post that soon. In that video I will compare and make sure all settings are equal... on and on. As far as my thoughts on the two? Because they are made of different materials, there is a slight difference on the positional sensing (which is on the snare and ride only), so if I didn't want to take a chance, I would buy Roland. Other than that, they both seem to work quite well. The Drumland link above is where I bought my Roland cones, although it seems as soon as they get them in stock, they sell out. Good luck.
Wow fantastic. I look forward to that comparison video. I just bought a used Roland TD30-KV drumset and I can tell from the responsiveness that some cones need replacing. Thanks for this content, there isnt much of it out there and yours is good :)
