The comedies from the 60's were just plain fun and silly. They always made you happy after watching. And the Flying Nun was surely one of them.

This was just great. As a child from a very dysfunctional and abusive home, TV was my escape and I was always glued to it 2 feet from the screen, which should have totally destroyed my vision LOL. I remember the night The Flying Nun premiered , it was magical and I immediately fell in love with Sally Field as well as Alejandro Rey LOL. This show was also the first time that I remember seeing Farrah Fawcett, I thought she was most gorgeous thing I had ever seen and she was the definitive California Girl. Madeleine Sherwood who played the Reverend Mother was a very valued member of the Actors Studio in NYC and was one of the original cast members of Arthur Miller's The Crucible I believe. She told an interesting story about watching Marilyn Monroe reunite Elia Kazan and Arthur Miller after they had had a feud and it is a very touching story. Anyway, just useless little bits of trivia that float around in my head. Great job as always Steve..

Vito Scotti played lots of ethnic roles, including an Indian adventurer on ANDY'S GANG and a Japanese soldier on GILLIGAN'S ISLAND. It's sad that his wife, only 53 years old, died on Easter Sunday 1979.
Sally Field starred in 2 other sitcoms. She played GIGDET on ABC for the 1965-66 season, and then later she was in THE GIRL WITH SOMETHING EXTRA, where her character had ESP, confounding her husband, played by John Davidson, on NBC 1973-74.

The 3 nuns lived to ripe old age. Sad they have no resting place. RIP all.

I wasn't a big fan, but my mother loved this show, and I watched a few of the reruns.

Never liked "The Flying Nun" during its original series run (loved Sally Field as "Gidget" 'tho), but find myself enjoying it now (on dvd). Still holds up as a bit of light entertainment on a rainy day! "Sr. Bertrille" was quite a character!

Handsome Alejando Rey reminded me so much of Herb Alpert but kids are easily confused!
