      Any way to tell whether the shade of blue that they've posted up matches the pictures, or whether it's more like the blue of the PD-1692? Thanks!

      @@joshexpressingdreams Originally I intended to review the black, and Tiffany versions. However these are currently in production. The factory had this white dial version available now, so rather than wait I decided to review it instead. I won't be reviewing the blue dial version. I don't like to review too many of the same model. For example this week I will have reviewed both the Pepsi, and black, versions of the PD-1696. I have also reviewed the black PD-1644, and my modified white PD-1644 this week. See my Pagani Design playlist below, 44 videos. I have now reviewed more Pagani Design watches than any other watch channel. Therefore I have to try and keep a balance reviewing other brands. Regards, #WR4K

    Another great review of an excellent value-for-money PD. My pick would definitely be the tiffany blue dial. They haven't got everything right, but for $120USD one cannot complain too much. For a few dollars more, it beggars belief why PD don't put a few layers of clear AR coating on the underside of the sapphire crystals of all their watches. I'm sure most purchasers wouldn't balk at a small price increase for this upgrade (I have a number of PD watches and haven't really noticed the lack of AR as being a significant issue). The PD1690 with the NH35 is also worth a look.

    Pagani is getting better and better all the time. They keep the price very acceptable too. I have the San Martin (black bay homage) that you reviewed a while ago; which has the divers bezel, it is a great watch and worth every penny. Great review as per normal 👍😉

      Congratulations Pietro. Excellent choice. Wear yours in good health. The SN008-G is one of the best San Martin watches ever made. They got many things correct with it, that other brands get incorrect. I prefer it to the Black Bay, and Black Bay 58. It is the watch that Tudor should be making themselves; 40mm with a ceramic bezel that matches the dial colour. I am tempted to add a V3 to my own personal collection as I really like it. When companies use the Miyota 8000 series, if they'd just use the varients like the 821A with hacking the skeletonized rotor which cuts down on nose and vibration a bit... Or even the updated version of 8125 (that hacks)... They'd get less hate, and would be satisfactory in more budget offerings to a lot of collectors. The one advantage of the movements over the NH35's is that it's smaller and considerably thinner, which is suitable for certain styles of watches. Also when modified for handwinding only can be even thinner and worth well on vintage sized dress watch style watches... Which is a market where supply hasn't really been met yet, in the budget category. They're a niche waiting to be filled and money being left on the table.

      @watchreviews4k  2 года назад +1

      Agreed, it would look better with brushed outer links as per the Black Bay 36. Fortunately its easy to change the finish from polished to brushed using a Scotchbrite pad (green back of washing up sponge). Regards, #WR4K

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  2 года назад +8

      @@Visitor555 It is easy to brush it in a straight line using this method. Remove the bracelet and stick it to a table top using double sided tape. Then cable tie the Scotchbrite pad around the end of a flat blade; such as a steel rule, filling knife, chisel, etc. Then the bracelet is held still in a straight line, and one can use two hands to hold the tool moving it back and forth in a straight line. This brushes the links into a factory finish. After one just washes the bracelet in warm water with washing up liquid to remove the fibre particles from the Scotbrite pad. Then refit it to the head of the piece. Regards, #WR4K

    Great vid thanks . . Pressed steel extension is ugly but like the lumed face

  • @Skurtle
    @Skurtle 2 года назад +3

    Thickness is great, they could’ve gotten it a bit thinner even, if the sapphire set flush with the case.
    The exhibition caseback suits this more dressy piece pretty well.
    I personally like the outer polished links, looks different, but one could change that with a brushing pad.
    I was wondering why you haven’t mentioned that the clasp rubs against the bracelet on both ends and left marks on the bracelet, pretty easily it seems.
    Yes, the extension is hideous, but I assume they have thousands of those clasp laying around and just use them…
    I could see that on male collectors but also on female collectors, pretty unisex size.
    Fully lumed dial? That took me by surprise. Good lume overall! Really a pleasant surprised!
    Would be interesting to know if the other dial options are also fully loomed, but I’d assume not.
    Does Seiko/Epson have a high beat movement in the lower/middle price tier? I know they have ones for their Grand Seiko, like the 9S85 (given that’s really high beat).
    But even the higher tier Seiko movements like the 6R35 are only 21.600 bph.

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  2 года назад +2

      12mm is the minimum for an NH35A. The flat sapphire crystal needs to be that thick to withstand 100 metres of pressure. It cannot be set lower as the second hand needs clearance under the crystal.
      No, Seiko and Epson movements run at 21,600 VPH typically.
      I prefer 28,800 VPH as it gives a smoother sweep to the second hand.
      Agreed, I could have mentioned the ends of the clasp scuff the centre links in the bracelet; however this is a common problem with this style of clasp.
      Regards, #WR4K

    • @watchreviews4k
      @watchreviews4k  2 года назад +5

      Yes, I record all my videos in one take talking for circa 20 minutes straight about the piece. I have never used a script, however I do refer to notes for the specifications, and dimensions. Unlike many watch channels I do not edit out mistakes to appear flawless. There are a plethora of; verbal, and visual mistakes in my videos. 4K video files are four times larger than 1080; therefore one 20 minute video typically takes 2 hours to upload and fully process to 4K on my channel. Editing out mistakes would take hours of processing in 4K. It gets easier with practice, having produced 274 videos in the last 2 years. Regards, #WR4K

    The NH35 is not much (if at all) better than the Miyota 8215. Yes, hacking is nice but the Miyotas often run better out of the box and more stable. The Seiko NH35 needs to be fully wound before it runs consistently while the Miyotas run consistently even if not fully wound. And the difference in quality is certainly not based on one-sided winding. Even the new Miyota 9XXX movements, that technically outperform all the lower grade Seiko movements up to and including the 6R-line, are only winding in one direction.
    Apart from that -- really nice video! I wish that amazon Germany made it clear which model has the lumed dial but they only have a model called "White" and "White 1". Rather confusing and I have no clue which one is the lumed version. Or ara all white dial versions of this watch fully lumed?

    The watch looks amazing. I honestly don’t know why an ordinary person who likes watches and experiencing new watches often would buy anything other than these homages. The amount of money saved could easily be in the 10’s of thousands. Not to mention most high end watches like Rolex can’t be bought. Specifically I only buy 39mm on up watches. Oh and I only wear straps because of comfort. I take bracelets off. And props on the all Lume dial!!

      my 50 different PD homages in my boxes are in cash total equal to my loved Tudor GMT - the difference is, I like to wear various watches - sometimes two different in one day - like them all, but looking at my Tudi waited 6 month to get my hands on it gives an additional not affordable smile to me. Dont need any other "high priced or valued brand" watch. But the Tudor will stay in family when gone. The around 100 PD's and all the other homages are worthless for everyone in future with expection of me having fun wearing it. Think I found my personal way - even if I consider to buy a Tudor Chrono or Rolli Explorer II as second "keeper" watch in future.

      I agree with you guys. I have a Tissot, Oris and Armand Nicolet. My dream watch is a bell and Ross military diver. But I just can't get enough of my Chinese homages. I call them beaters and I just keep rolling my vintage submariner Pagani and my vintage submariner San martin... And now I ordered this pd1617. I really think that when I finally get my bell and Ross, I will stop with the high end (for me high end haha) and keep on getting these fun to wear watches. I mean I'm not scared of crashing the sapphire or getting mugged with I'm using them. And they really are well made.

    Date ruins the whole point of the watch. San Martin also just came out with the BB36 homage in their Exp 36 -homage colourways.

      The Tiffany dial version doesn't have a date. Agreed, it would look better without a date complication as per the Black Bay 36. Regards, #WR4K

    Why is the wrong crown on that watch? A BB36 homage should have a crown like the BB58. This looks odd....

      @@watchreviews4k I wrote in the end of Jan to Pagani if they think to produce this watch in the nearer future and told em how it should be. After a positive message I waited now for some weeks, but since yesterday I am very disappointed. This is a half way homage and I hope that PD will announce sooner or later a V2 of the 1716.

      .... And I am more disappointed that PD didn't answer me anymore after my idea of that watch. At least a free example would be nice ;-)

    Pagani designs are good only if you really don't have the budget or if you just want a watch to play around with. I'd pay more for a san martin or cronos, just speaking from my experience, I bought a pagani design pepsi homage, it was good for a month, then I started to regret not buying the cronos version

    Somehow it look really weird. I wonder because of the camera angle or bezel is too huge.

    Its a shame about the specs war on Ali Express watches. On paper sapphire has better specs but I would prefer Hardlex if there is no AR. My SKX007 uses Hardlex and no scratches but more legible. I would buy this watch if it used Hardlex.
