    Make sure you use 304 Stainless Steel or better for your washers, bolts, and nuts!
    Also, be careful when reading these comments. The bots are relentless. I will not ask you to contact me on WhatsApp. Do not click on any links for Crypto advisors. They are all scams.

      I hear a lot of people saying this, however I've torture tested zinc plated steel to the point where they glow red from the sustained heat, and after they cool, still easily ledgible. I'd say, having stamped seed phrases on ANY metal medium is better than not having any or having paper based backups. Your odds of house burning down are low, but the odds of having your house burnt down by an industrial furnace are less ;)

    Great job. You can save some stamping time by only using the first 4 letters of each word. The BIP 39 list of 2048 words were chosen in that the first 4 letters are unique.

    I found a metal seed card on amazon for $6. I'm building this washer seed vault but I'm going one step farther. I'm going to use a pipe coupler and a couple of steel caps to close the washers inside with a gasket to keep it waterproof. I'm also thinking of putting an extra word or two in there so instead of 12 it will have 14 or 26. This adds a layer of security but you do need to remember which words are actually fake.

    get a hardware wallet that will allow you to add a 25th word. This secures the wallet in such a way that theyll think they have your seed phrase and you can even leave a small balance on it as a decoy, but adding the 25th word creates a whole new set of addresses where you can have your real balance. The 25th word should be something youll really memorize so you dont write it down anywhere or at least dont keep it together with your 24 word seed phrase otherwise defeats the purpose

  • @44door22

    Dont use nylon nuts! The plastic will melt in a fire and slip off the bolt, and then the washers slide off. Good luck finding them in a major house fire. Use a SS lock washer then two nuts. And then stick a security hologram sticker around the bolts.

  • @thefulchman
    @thefulchman Месяц назад +1

    The only thing that doesn’t make sense to me - lots of videos and Reddit threads say to make sure to buy the hardware wallet directly from the manufacturer so you ensure you’re not getting a hacked device or something. So if you’re buying the wallet from a manufacturer, it seems you’re already in danger of having your information get out there if the manufacturer gets hacked. So whether you buy their seed phrase storage device or not, haven’t you already exposed yourself to that risk?

They did a SIM swap hack with my phone number, got into my email accounts, and tried (but failed) to blackmail me, demanding i send them some Bitcoin (i then asked if they would accept DOGE instead. Make sure to use 24 words seed and split it in 3.
    A 12 words seed phrase split in 3, if someone finds a 4 words set, it will take him... 109 seconds to access the wallet !
    A 18 words seed, with a 4 words set will take 3 years
    A 24 words seed : 3,830,854 years !!

    • @majorart9283
      @majorart9283 Год назад

      How did you end up with 109 seconds ?
      ChatGPT doesn't think so. :
      With a 12-word seed phrase split into three sets of 4 words each, if a hacker gains access to one set of 4 words, they'd need to brute force the remaining 8 words.
      Using the BIP-39 standard for seed phrases, assuming the attacker knows the structure and only needs to guess the missing words, there are
      2048 raised to the power of 8
      possible combinations for the remaining 8 words. This is an immense number, making it virtually impossible to crack within any practical timeframe using current computational capabilities.
      Estimating the exact time is challenging due to the sheer magnitude of possibilities, but it would take an extremely long time, potentially millions or billions of years, depending on advancements in technology and computational power.
