Such great and helpful information, as always. Thank you Woodsy! I'm still training consistently, and am the "sled king" of my gym, 8 months now with the best times 🙏🏻💪🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the tips, I'm doing my first race (albeit 4x relay) in a few days. This will be a good social intro to Hyrox and hopefully next year I can tackle it on my own.
Thanks Woodsy, great video as always. For my last Hyrox I ran easy first kilometer and then kept my heart rate for the remaining runs no more than zone 4 with the theory that this would clear lactate and not gas me out for the stations. I'm nowhere near as fit as a lot of the guys doing Hyrox but curious whether you pay any mind to heart rate once you've settled into the race and the initial adrenaline/excitement has passed?
thank you Steven, I monitor my heart rate in training during run throughs I mentally take note of what different HR feels like. 85% is normally my tipping point and I only hit 90%+ on the wall balls. but during a race I don’t tend to look at it, I find there’s too many other variables, so I reflect on it post race.
Would love to see an elite runner do it...if Jacob kiplimo ran it (half m wr holder) then he would be doing 2.43 a lap running... so 23.40 for the 8.7km of the hyrox.... he would absolutely breeze the bbj and lunges as a top level runner and through sheer high cadence get a very competitive time on the ski erg and rower... I think he would nail the wall balls too leaving just the sleds and farmers. I don't think he could pull the pro weight (he is 56kg) but reckon he get through the open class. Prob a 1500m elite runner be the best at hyrox as they can be a bit bigger yet epically fast too...
Yes I’d definitely I think top runners can do very well on the runs, the ski, row and burpees. But movements like lunges and wall balls if you aren’t proficient in those movements really slow you down no matter how good your cardio is. I’d really love to see some professionals in different sports compete against each other. Say a marathon runner vs triathlete vs rugby/football player vs CrossFit athlete
Hi! Can I ask a question? I’m a beginner with running, I (used to) hate it, lol. I do workout 3 times a week though, actively. What would you consider to be achievable in little over 3 months time when it comes to running fitness and pace? Thanks so much for your time in advance. Doing my first hyrox in april.
Hello, if you are running 3 times a week for 3 months you can make some really good progress and if you are already active it should be enough time to prepare you for a Hyrox. I couldn’t give you any specifics without knowing more but feel free to contact me on instagram @woodsyworkout
@@woodsyworkout my overall Hyrox pace was 6:42 per k and my Half Marathon PR pace was 6:08 per k and the half marathon was this September and Hyrox was in November. What can I do to recover faster in hyrox between exercises so I can run better?

Love that long live the sled king 👑
This video is perfect ! Just done my first Hyrox Doubles this week end, and running is obviously what killed us !

Nice I hope it goes well I’ve signed up to my first relay too in London
Great video man! Running is always a struggle for us taller lads so I need all the help I can get🤣
Appreciate it, are you racing this weekend?
@@woodsyworkout yeah mate, I’m doing doubles! How about you?
Excellent formula 👊

@@woodsyworkout thank you, good to know. If I manage to get a ticket to London, defo will be in touch to sign up for your training plan.

@@woodsyworkout thanks a lot!
So you're running at a 7:30 to 8min mile pace for all these individual kilometers right? Seems solid and doable with dedicated training 🍀
Yes my running is in a good place at the moment so will try and go a bit faster this weekend but we will see
I ended up running Hyrox about 15-20 seconds slower than my Half Marathon PR race time.
that’s interesting as in your running pace or the total time?
