I've done 3 events. First 2 absolutely gassed in by the time I hit the sleds and I was in oxygen debt until the FC. I copped it by the 3rd event and backed off just a fraction to grab an overall PB. Really nice way of explaining why your body needs oxygen after the sleds, thanks!

    Thanks for the clear explanation.
I have done 1 event and 2 simulations now. What happens with me is that my max heart rate is much higher during the runs in hyrox, than when i am just going for a run outside. In a 5k run it will be around 170. In a half marathon it will be around 160. But during a hyrox it jumps up to 180-190 at a pace between my 10 and half marathon. And max heart rate is even over 200 at the end. I have started serious zone 2 work for my running lately to get my heart rate down an training the compromised running. So i hope that helps. I will be doing a sim again soon. But the compromised running really makes it hard to keep the heart rate down. Although these higher heart rates feel fine during a race. Any tips on that?

Hey there, I'm looking forward to my first Hyrox. I'm curious: Do you have an idea why your HR is much higher during Hyrox vs. regular runs? And when you compare simulations with the actual event: Does a simulated time reflect your actual time?

@@fluttershy77x good luck on you first hyrox. Heart rate spikes because of the change in excersizes. My HR spikes are mostly at the start of the runs. Simulations are almost always faster. 5-10 minutes difference is almost standard.

What sort of opening 1km pace would you suggest? (Compared to say your 5km pace)

I have done four Hyrox races so far and I seem to recall being told that run pace for Hyrox should be slightly slower than your 10k race pace. This stands to reason when you think about it- you're running 8k, which means it has to be slower than your 5k pace and then you have all the stations added to that. So yeah, somewhere between 10k and half marathon pace.
