I love how the acoustic version is just so heart-wrenching and beautiful. This version just brings out the pain in the song, and emphasizes the spectacular lyrics. Because, with this, it forces you to pay attention to the song's message, and not get distracted by the amazing instrumental. I mean don't get me wrong, I love the original version too.
I think that the regular one is very appealing, but it doesn't have the emotional impact. I'd put that on while I'm shooting at people in a videogame, while this is the one I'd stare out a window crying to.
***** I think that's what some people like about the original version. To a certain extent, I'm among them. I'm not into metalcore, death metal, or any of the heaviest metal varieties, but a certain amount of darkness and just... umph is usually good IMO
+Murphy Macmanus this version is just serene and gentle, the original tried for a gentle feel but the genre and style just didn't let that happen. it also goes against breaking Benjamin's usual style of having to force he lyrics through their vocal cords.
Murphy Macmanus I find this version to capture the message far better than the original. Plus as you said it's very soothing and the changing of the singing with the lyrics is beautiful.
I love the regular version, particularly because of the way it sounds. This version just feels so much different. It gave me a much greater appreciation for the lyrics. I think of someone very close to me when I hear this version, particularly during the second verse.
It's like i'm hearing the two sides of the grief, and i like it. -Standard Version looks like Rage/Anger -Acoustic Version looks like Melancholy/Depression It's just my interpretation, let it get inside your head.
Breaking Benjamin is one of the most underrated groups there is. Their lyrics are top notch, their music is top notch, the vocals can stand on their own. They may have a formulaic style at times, but so did the beetles overall.
[Verse 1] If I had to, I would put myself right beside you So let me ask, "Would you like that? Would you like that?" And I don't mind if you say this love is the last time So now I'll ask, "Do you like that? Do you like that?" No [Chorus 1] Something's getting in the way Something's just about to break I will try to find my place In the diary of Jane So tell me how it should be [Verse 2] Try to find out what makes you tick As I lie down, sore and sick Do you like that, do you like that? There's a fine line between love and hate And don't mind, just let me say That I like that, I like that [Chorus 1] [Chorus 2] As I burn another page As I look the other way I still try to find my place In the diary of Jane So tell me how it should be [Bridge] Desperate, I will crawl Waiting for so long No love, there's no love Die for anyone What have I become? Something's getting in the way Something's just about to break I will try to find my place In the diary of Jane As I burn another page As I look the other way I still try to find my place In the diary of Jane
i like this version better because the added vocal harmony brings an intimacy that highlights the true melancholy nature of the lyrics. you feel more like you’re in the diary of jane as opposed to hearing abt his place in it.
I like both the original and this version of the song, but I like this version a lot more. Usually acoustic versions of upbeat or hard sounding songs don't sound so good when they're acoustic, but this is clearly an exception.
This song is AWESOME! It has so much meaning behind it. The first time I listened to it, I listened to the first few lyrics, and then I said: "OMG This Is Totally My New Favorite Song!"
To die for someone What i have become ?❤️ These lyrics hits hard...makes you question your self respect...your self worth... your mental health and aspirations. I have been going through the unrequited love denial for 7 to 8 years now... Although I changed for good and improved in my life a lot, still often i get entangled in her thoughts of her denial. Love has since become a mere word in the dictionary. I have grown to be more emotion less and oblivious to anyone or anything around me. Somehow this song is becoming like a wake up call...to focus even more on myself and get even better at my life instead of wasting my emotions on someone who never really cared about my existence. Whatever little i even think of her. It must stop. It would have been great had i found a space in her diary for me.... But now that i never existed in her life, I will try my best to burn pages from my diary instead on which i scribbled my emotions for her. It won't be easy but i am sure at one point i will be able to entirely burn my diary and stop expecting a story about US in her diary. This is it. No more self-torture in the pretext of unrequited love.
I used to sing a lullaby version of ‘Diary of Jane’ to my son when he was born…hell, I still do it and it sounds like this. I’m hoping to take my son (now 10) to his second BB concert this month!
I have this song on repeat... I've hit the replay button so many times! My boyfriend played it to me yesterday and I searched it up and I can't stop listening to it!
Haven’t gone through my playlist for a while. Always loved this song and never knew about this version until after watching an amv. To be honest, that’s how I learned about BB altogether. It was also the first band I discovered without listening to 97.9 (which I thought was the station that played Today’s Best Music, so I was surprised when I learned the bands I listened to growing up were unfamilar to some)
At first I heard the voice and I was like "What did they do?" but I gave it a chance. It's really well done, and it's a whole new spin on this song. It's like the angry and sad side of us all that are so different, yet coorespond with each other, you know? Great version of it.
AwesomeAlyssa I like people like you. I mean you can acknowledge that you were mean and can apologize. There are not a lot of people like that so good on you.
It's funny because as I was listening to the original version of this song I was thinking "This would be amazing acoustic" and now I found it and I am loving every second of it =)
Those last notes in the chorus give me chills every time..... I expect his iconic "scream" and I get this lovely soft perfect note...... chills
I love how the acoustic version is just so heart-wrenching and beautiful. This version just brings out the pain in the song, and emphasizes the spectacular lyrics. Because, with this, it forces you to pay attention to the song's message, and not get distracted by the amazing instrumental. I mean don't get me wrong, I love the original version too.
right
This one's just better
This version is so powerful it brings tears to my eyes when I hear the pain in his voice! Very awesome
Its the cello isnt it
Spot on
Is it bad if I prefer the acoustic version over the regular one? Because I frickin' love this song.
There is, and always well be, nothing wrong with an opinion. Unless it's an extremely stupid one. But for your's, no there is nothing wrong.
I think that the regular one is very appealing, but it doesn't have the emotional impact. I'd put that on while I'm shooting at people in a videogame, while this is the one I'd stare out a window crying to.

It is not bad. However,I prefer electric version.Acoustic version is really sad,it can easily make me cry :(
Admiral Aladeen I think that's actually the reason why I like this version so much (I didn't say I like it better because I think it's kinda tied)
I love both versions. But I love this version the most, because its so beautiful and soothing.
i completely agree
+Murphy Macmanus this version is just serene and gentle, the original tried for a gentle feel but the genre and style just didn't let that happen. it also goes against breaking Benjamin's usual style of having to force he lyrics through their vocal cords.
Murphy Macmanus I find this version to capture the message far better than the original. Plus as you said it's very soothing and the changing of the singing with the lyrics is beautiful.
2:15-2:25 Who hurt you breaking Benjamin, who hurt you
XD

+Nole Lau AHAHAHAHAHA this episode was on the other night

I love this sobg.
Almost nothing better than a vocalist hitting a perfect falsetto note.
This version is as as sad as it is beautiful.
need this version on Spotify
so freaking amazing I almost cried the first time I heard it
BREAKING BENJAMIN!!!! I luuv em
I love the regular version, particularly because of the way it sounds. This version just feels so much different. It gave me a much greater appreciation for the lyrics. I think of someone very close to me when I hear this version, particularly during the second verse.
Ashley Nicole: I *did* cry.
Adam McCann same
Ashley Nicole wow
heard this today on Pandora. Never new this version existed and it made me happy XD
I knew about this version for years and it's still awesome baby!
this ver. is better in my opinion
We might never get back this type of beautiful art ...
Pain Peace yea a lot of the music today is bad.
1:42 - 2:22 is so amazing. His voice, the piano carrying you right into the next powerful verse. Amazing acoustic, love revisiting.
Same! I crave this song and listen to it multiple times, just to hear that part (and enjoy all other parts, but this one gets me).
*When your crush's name is coincidentally is Jane and you kept listening to this while going deep into endless void*
HellomynameisRyanfirstoutindeedgooglelikesmesomuchtheybotheredmeuntilmynamewasthislong did you ever get your crush to like you?
It's like i'm hearing the two sides of the grief, and i like it.
-Standard Version looks like Rage/Anger
-Acoustic Version looks like Melancholy/Depression
It's just my interpretation, let it get inside your head.
The beauty and sadness wrapped up in Ben's voice is so powerful. Such an amazing song and voice.
The acoustic version sounds awesome. But a bit sad, I cry everytime.
This is one of the few songs in existence where I can't decide which is better between the normal and acoustic versions...
Three days grace- wake up
I prefer the original because it’s more hardcore.
Breaking Benjamin is one of the most underrated groups there is. Their lyrics are top notch, their music is top notch, the vocals can stand on their own. They may have a formulaic style at times, but so did the beetles overall.
2:22 the way he sings "Become" is extremely impressive.
[Verse 1]
If I had to, I would put myself right beside you
So let me ask, "Would you like that? Would you like that?"
And I don't mind if you say this love is the last time
So now I'll ask, "Do you like that? Do you like that?"
No
[Chorus 1]
Something's getting in the way
Something's just about to break
I will try to find my place
In the diary of Jane
So tell me how it should be
[Verse 2]
Try to find out what makes you tick
As I lie down, sore and sick
Do you like that, do you like that?
There's a fine line between love and hate
And don't mind, just let me say
That I like that, I like that
[Chorus 1]
[Chorus 2]
As I burn another page
As I look the other way
I still try to find my place
In the diary of Jane
So tell me how it should be
[Bridge]
Desperate, I will crawl
Waiting for so long
No love, there's no love
Die for anyone
What have I become?
Something's getting in the way
Something's just about to break
I will try to find my place
In the diary of Jane
As I burn another page
As I look the other way
I still try to find my place
In the diary of Jane
take my money just please dont beat me up
We have lyrics on the video for a reason
and?
i like this version better because the added vocal harmony brings an intimacy that highlights the true melancholy nature of the lyrics. you feel more like you’re in the diary of jane as opposed to hearing abt his place in it.
His voice ♡
I'm naming my girl Jane after this song.
Naming mine Jeff.
crazybabe72 James, Jun.
Did you?
this song is sad af but i love it
2020, Still try to find my place.
awwww! ben has a soft side lol..powerful when rockin' yet beautiful love it
I so didn't cry the first time I heard this version what are you talking about
kinda sucks when you find yourself in the lyrics...
It's an amazing song with an unbelievable backstory.
What is the backstory? (and, just a personal interpretation, this sounds to me like a guy falling for a formally abused woman)
I love reading comments on songs like this...I feel like I found my people ❤️
2020 and I still love both versions of this song... The singer is sooooo talented
Have passed several years since I heard this song.
I love it more now that I understand what it meant!
So, so beautiful. Absolutely love this. Wish I could like this a million more times!!
Omg... It's been so freaking long and I just remembered the acoustic version and I am still on love with it😫
I always listen to this song when I'm angry or stressed. I don't know why, but this song just always makes me feel better.
I like both the original and this version of the song, but I like this version a lot more. Usually acoustic versions of upbeat or hard sounding songs don't sound so good when they're acoustic, but this is clearly an exception.
**listens to the original during the day and this one at night**
I need to relax.
wow!! his voice can be so powerful, yet here its just plain beautiful!! hes such an amazing writer and singer :)
This song is AWESOME! It has so much meaning behind it. The first time I listened to it, I listened to the first few lyrics, and then I said: "OMG This Is Totally My New Favorite Song!"
I LOVE BREAKING BENJAMIN SONGS ESPECIALLY THIS ONE AND DANCE WITH THE DEVIL, IT GIVES OUT EMOTIONS
That's what I love about rock. It's not about making the song popular. The whole genre is more willing to give emotion over fame.
Those and I love so cold
To die for someone
What i have become ?❤️
These lyrics hits hard...makes you question your self respect...your self worth... your mental health and aspirations.
I have been going through the unrequited love denial for 7 to 8 years now... Although I changed for good and improved in my life a lot, still often i get entangled in her thoughts of her denial.

For some reason it took me forever to find this. Love it
I like both versions of this song. But I don't know y but the acoustic is better...
Kristen Owens Dunno about you, but the "Do you like that"sounds off in the normal version to me.
I would love for this to be played on my funeral, although I don't deserve such a beautiful song, I would consider it as my last wish.
Oh my gosh I love this so much...the tone matches the lyrics so well
After all these years, I finally found a meaning to this beautiful song.
2019 and still listening to this gem. BB got me into rock back in 2006 and I am forever in debt.
ITS SO BEAUTIFUL! I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!!
OMG I never knew they had a acoustic version!! these feels man... PERFECTION. *-*
this is so much better than the other. Now you can feel the pain, and sadness. I love it!
Omg i love this song
too much awesome, just one song.. i think i broke the replay button..
Love this song!!!
I genuinely cant choose between the original and this, both have the same powerful effect for two different emotions. I love it 😀😀
I don't usually like the acoustic version to any song but I love this!!
i love this version of the song a lot better it reminds me of my immortal
I love how this band started in Wilkes-Barre! like 20 miles from my house! About time something good came from Pennsylvania.
I have this song on repeat... I've hit the replay button so many times! My boyfriend played it to me yesterday and I searched it up and I can't stop listening to it!
I love this accoustic version and the lyrics!!!
Haven’t gone through my playlist for a while. Always loved this song and never knew about this version until after watching an amv. To be honest, that’s how I learned about BB altogether. It was also the first band I discovered without listening to 97.9 (which I thought was the station that played Today’s Best Music, so I was surprised when I learned the bands I listened to growing up were unfamilar to some)
I teared up.. so beautiful

I never thought another version could be just as good as the original 😳 They are just amazing 💕 His voice 😍
This song went perfect with so many animations, who ever did this gets a gold star.
what an amazing song this is! the acoustic can move you a lot.
This is so beautiful. I love it.
absolutely beautiful.
WHAT HAVE I BECOME???? love it!!!!!
this is beautiful.
I love the piano here! It sounds so urgent, so desperate, as if you're there watching him to try to find his place
to me this song has a strong rock legend soung to it strong choir nice tone steady sound its perfect
omg i so luv this song
Love this version its better than the regular one
This is beautiful, I love breaking Benjamin so freaking much❤️🤘

Tis beautiful
oh my god i thought he was cute in the original... this is heartbreakingly cute! i love his voice and i am melting right now!
Dude, it's "sore and sick," not, "sorry, sick" that doesn't even make sense!!!();)(;()
🔥🔥🔥 Okay, I admit, that comment was rude, I apologize... 🔥🔥🔥
AwesomeAlyssa
I like people like you. I mean you can acknowledge that you were mean and can apologize. There are not a lot of people like that so good on you.
:'-)

Am I the only one who prefers the acoustic version?
No
I listen to this when I'm down thinking of life as jane. Its beautiful.
I listen to the other version if its just a regular day and I wanna hear it.

It's funny because as I was listening to the original version of this song I was thinking "This would be amazing acoustic" and now I found it and I am loving every second of it =)
I love this version of this song alot. It makes me miss a great friend of mine who I wish I could see. I love you Dez. Miss you.
