- This was my first project with Disciple. The song is from their "This Might Sting A Little" CD (Rugged Records).Someone else shot the footage & I edited it.
My next project with Disciple was their "Not Rock Stars" video
One of my all time favorite songs. Powerful message for true Christians to put aside our petty differences and get busy for God ! ! !
Disciple is awesome. They send a great christian message with an awesome rock sound. They are the best!!!

I spent lots of time with the original trio. They were very much involved with their local church. Kevin (lead vocals) was part of the music ministry & lead services. Disciple is kind of like a traveling tabernacle reaching out to young lost souls with a powerful tool. Loud, rock music. I've witnessed Kevin leading a service & make an alter call in the middle of their concerts. Many of those kids had never any doctrine. U don't hit these kids with heavy doctrine if U want to win their hearts.

Glad you enjoyed it. I hope posting it helps the band. The project got completed then was kinda put on the back burner. I spend quite a bit of time on the road & in the studio with them while they were still with Rugged Records. I was always amazed at the impact they had on their fans. They're a fun, bunch of talented guys.

My favorite song by my favorite band. I have seen them in concert several times and am always blown away by how much enrgy they bring. More than even ST and any other secular band I used to follow (when I was still lost in sin). Not only is DISCIPLE the best Christian metal band for music sake alone, they also bring more heart and Scripture than most every other in the field. Keep bringing it Kevin! Great is your reward!

This totally rocks out loud!! Ministering to youth, I try to stay on top of what they listen to.. One of my kids tossed me a Disciple CD one night and said,"here listen this this" I'm lovin it!!!
Oh I love it, this song probably helped me quit going to church for good, Coast to Coast AM helped wake me up from the fairy tale.

It's been a long time since I've worked with the boys. I'm pretty sure Brad left to spend more time with his a family. He continued to contribute music but gave up touring. But since I haven't talked to any of them for a LONG time I don't know the band's "politics" & why Tim left. I hope they're all happy & healthy.
I love disciple wish they would keep the old school stuff I heard the new stuff and it ain't the same it sounds like rock and rap

Did you ever see the original trio in concert? Kevin used to do a fair amount of preaching before he asked if anyone wanted to except Christ as their savior.
That's the kind of comment I'd expect from an atheist. My mother taught me if I didn't have something good to say about someone I shouldn't say anything at all. I like to pass on wisdom.

I agree. To them I say, "we are to live in the world but not of the world". With that in mind, I don't understand covering the our largest organ (skin) with tatoos.
1. Those guys had tatoos long before I met them. Kevin once told me he discourages kids from getting inked. Maybe he's changed his mind. I don't know. I can't speak for him.
2. About fashion I ask, what about being humble? Designer names & hot sneakers won't put your name in the Book of Life.
3. I agree, I've never read that Jesus said tatoos (or piercings) are sinful. But your body is a temple. A body with no ink shows that you're respecting the temple He gave you. Keep it healthy & clean.
I’m gonna get tattoos and grow my hair really long once I move out of my parent’s house.

They want to spread the word of God. Song is one of the oldest forms of communication ever. Plus, the Bible says God wants you to praise Him with song. Personally, I enjoy Disciple's music & the beat. The words are actually secondary to me. I like them because I know them personally. They're a great bunch of guys. Believe me, they don't hate non Christians. Metal is the music of their generation. It's a tool they use to talk to other young people. Kevin plays piano & sings in his church choir.

@Jakeman3 I just said killing is wrong. While I don't understand why people want to get tattoos. I've seen bands like Disciple many times, met them, know their lyrics. Nobody can convince me that bands like that aren't christian just bc they have a tattoo. I'm not saying old law is unseless. It just seemed there were a couple of old laws that were right for people at the time there were originally written....that didn't apply so much to people later, bc they were misused.
@62ssab You DON"T NEED to go to A BUILDING every freaking Sunday to BELIEVE and WORSHIP. THE song says I JUST KNOW JESUS is The WAY! IT doesn't say anything about CHURCH and DENOMINATIONS! They are talking about all believers coming together despite what sect they are. And that CAN happen ANYWHERE!

@Jakeman3 Having a tattoo doesn't mean someone isn't a christian. If that were the case...then hardly anybody would be going to heaven. A lot of times it's a cultural thing.
I think "religion" is a term we can all use to identify a group of people that worship a god.Some peoples "religion" is science fiction.Others worship fashion & jewlery.There are extemist as well as casual observers in all religions.I don't care for organized religion because it usually involves power, money & sex. Is THAT WJWD? The bigger the organization the more money, power involved. I don't need TV, radio, DVD's,jumbotrons, megachurches & satellite dishes to commune with God.
@guildcode here's a little old school wisdom (from my mother) : if you can't say something nice (or at least constructive), don't say anything.

They're not a Christian band. Music is for everyone. They do however preach and glorify God and that is just God using music to send a message. Of course if you're a Christian it's going to affect the drive for you making music. Christianity is not a genre, it's a lifestyle.
They sound like they are trying to be like rage against the machine.

@62ssab No, you haven't got the message. You don't NEED to go to church to believe like you do. You just need to "fellowship" with like minded beleivers and you do that anytime you talk to another believer. "Church" is just school, being a believer and fellowshipping happens all the time.
VESTAL1973 I realize they're not traditional but they do help move the unwashed masses a little closer to Jesus. Baby food for babies. I suggest you see them & talk to them before you trash them too much. It's possible you're guilty of condemning something you don't like or understand.

@Jakeman3 I don't have any of those myself, & I really don't understand why people want to get them. I don't think getting one of them can be put in the same class as killing someone though. The scripture you're reffering to was old law. They also taught an eye for an eye & a tooth for a tooth then too, but they had to change it later to turn the other cheek, bc people in the later days tried to use that as an excuse to get people back for things.

No...many of the tats are religious in nature. Like I said before. "Everyone has to decide for themself. Just be very careful how you justify it. If your body is a temple does it seem right to deface it?" I know tats are expensive. I'd rather see them spend the $ to feed or cloth someone.
@AaronHollis I get that Aaron. As for "cultural thing" I remind you to live in the world, not of the world. I know I'm fairly old school but what ever happened to being humble & treat your body as a temple? Or maybe tatooing is an improvment to God's perfect design. That's like changing, "thy shall not kill" to "kill if it makes you feel good". Or, "adultry is ok as long as you use a condom". I don't think so.
I think if He wanted you to have a tatoo He would have put it on you. Let your actions tell people you believe. God has never branded people to show everyone else they were believers. He doesn't work that way. He knows your heart. Just walk the walk, man. When people ask you why you do what you do you can talk with them. That'll say more then any tatoo can do. Plus, it won't turn ugly as you age.

Don't give up on church.
Find a church that puts more emphasis on teaching The Bible than promoting its denomination. There are some out there.

@Jakeman3 Old law also says nto to eat animals w/ split hooves. You can still take care of yourself. How do you know that the Bible wasn't talking about not doing drugs, or something like that...that is more destructive than getting a tattoo. I'm not going to justify any of the other stuff you mentioned, but from my experince....tattoos seem to be different. I've known my share of people that had tehm that were sold out for God, & lived no compromise lives.
Kevin and Brad both have tattoos on their bodies, but you still edited their early music videos. Tattoos are just as common today as owning the hottest pair of sneakers or updating one's wardrobe every 2 or so months if you're a girl. Jesus never said anything about having a tattoo as being a sin. What the tattoo represents is the important thing.
My only question is "Why?" If it's about being cool then it's of the world. It can't be about being an individual because just about every musician, gang member, WWF wrestler, NASCAR driver, etc has them. Everyone has to decide for themself. Just be very careful how you justify it. If your body is a temple does it seem right to deface it?
I'm neither perfect nor home schooled but I can recognize your syntax error (Tell you mother). I'll extrapolate Mom's wisdom to it's base level. If you don't know what you're talking about, shut your big yap. Wisdom usually comes with age but you have to be mature enough to appreciate it. Listen proxylady, we could throw jabs at each but that proves nothing. Before this gets personal or rude, how about just agree that we disagree. OK? I WILL remove any foul language or ugly attitude.

well.. I SAID it's a bit confusing. I agree, there are more pressing issues. I've seen plenty of very good looking tats but they're on young skin. All that beauty turns to mush with age. They're VERY expensive to remove. Would God be better served if that $ was used to feed the poor? Which is a better personal choice? Tats or serving your fellow man? Personally, I won't have ANY tats but no comdemnation from me if you do. HE gave us freedom of choice. We each have to answer for ourselves.
That's pretty vague. I don't think God was implying eternal damnation for some ink...
We have a lot more pressing issues in the world in my opinion.

hey look ladey, just cause were christian doesnt mean that were "uninformed" or "little people." id say you should leave it alone and enjoy the music, im not saying were perfect. your whole premarital sex comment is not compleatly true or false. we all make mistakes, im not afraid to admit mine. ive done stupid things, but when my freind showed me god i was chamged, and i relized theirs no reason to be imature and start a fight with people i disagree with. so lets just relax. ok.

No offense taken by me. I see you're 19. As you age & mature you'll find the world is full of strange & interesting people. Many chose to use drugs, or murder or even molesting children for answers. Would you say they made bad choices? A wise man would advise against those choices. Even a non believer can find a wealth of time tested wisdom in the Bible. I believe it's important to NOT force your beliefs on others or persecute others for theirs as long as no one gets hurt physically.

@AaronHollis Does sin have classes? You're either sinning or you're not. Thy shall not kill is old law but we still observe it. You make it sound like old law is useless. Are you one of those Progressives that think the Constitution is out dated? I guess it boils down to choice. I'll choose what parts of the Bible work for me & you choose the parts that work for you. That should settle nothing.
I think the "arguing" is based on Corinthians 6:19-20.
"19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body. "
Depending how you interpret "honor God with your body" it can be a bit confusing. Just don't use that as an excuse to get tats that DON'T honor God. PLUS...have you seen 40 years old tats? YUCK!
I don't like people like that. If a judgmental Christian went and slammed a secular band, some of their fans would be jumping all over that same Christian guy. Of course they have no problem justifying themselves by saying "God and heaven and hell are fake" on Christian videos.
