Psych Engine has built-in custom events, almost everything is soft-coded, and has a better input system than Kade Engine. On the other hand, Kade Engine is MUCH more customizable with circle arrows, and offset, so both of them have goods and bads. But then again, Psych Engine is in its beta phase, so we can all come together and say that both are good in their own ways. EDIT: Sorry, I meant to say kade engine has a better input system than psych engine lol...
Kade's current antimash system is completely based on hit windows. There is a reason why "Bads" or lower judgements take your health or even break your combo - that counters mashing as mashing makes hits very inaccurate. On the other hand, psych uses a manual antimash system that tries to detect if you are mashing, which often leads to input drops. Right now, bad note timings won't take your health or break your combo - which suggests the other system is in play. Psych's newest version now implements keyboard callbacks, which was implemented in KE 1.5, meaning it's input system should be comparable to Kade's now, but the manual anti-mash system is still there.
Honestly, I prefer Psych Engine. It took what was most necessary, and then built it's features around those. It's in beta, but imagine what a future release might bring with it. Hell, perhaps it'd even surpass Kade Engine, due to how easily you can mod it?
many people will say the same. but pysch is really user friendly, even down to adding weeks. its insane. porting stuff from kade to psych is really easy, so psych for me.
Psych Engine so far is already better in my opinion. Not only is the in-game mod support already great, allowing for you to make a full blown mod with unique mechanics and new note types, all while being much simpler to understand for a newbie to coding and only requiring basic knowledge of lua coding. (and from teasers we've gotten from Shadow Mario in the Basement Club discord, shits gonna get even better with an in-game mod manager allowing you to manage your mods better and to essentially create whole ass modpacks) but it also provides more to the base game, along with making it easier to add events during the song without required changes to the code of the game. The only issue currently is the lack of an option for a more detailed accuracy system, and the anti-mash could be improved. Beyond that, it's already a great engine as is. Kade Engine has better input in terms of competitive play. Mods like the Camellia mod strive off of Kade BECAUSE it's focused around other rhythm games which are less forgiving and overall more difficult than FNF is. It even provides some modifiers like allowing you to play any chart with any scroll speed and even change the overall speed of a song. However, past that, it's currently horribly optimized in it's more recent updates and doesn't provide nearly as much as Psych does for modders. While at the end of the day its an engine for a game where you play as a short ass blue haired bastard who learned english from a fax machine so it doesn't matter much. But if you had to choose, Psych is definitely the way to go for casual play and generally for modding as well.

I still prefer kade engine mainly because that is a more well known engine and also it has actual controller support which psych engine could definitely use as using the control stick is fine but i prefer the buttons
In my opinion, they each are better for their own things. Kade Engine has better inputs and is more customizable for the person playing the mod, while Psych Engine lags less and is more customizable for the person making the mod. Also, Psych is easier to mod if you have no coding experience and has a better chart editor, however it is mostly limited to what the engine provides. Kade Engine, on the other hand, is harder to mod and requires a bit of coding, however, due to this, Kade Engine's potential is as high as the language it's written in, as YOU make and add all the features, instead of having to use pre-made ones. Not sure about on PC but for making mods on Mobile Psych Engine is easily the best Not only is it the least laggy engine EXPECIALLY with optimized sprite packs, but the character editor REALLY helps with fixing sprites Only real issue with it is a bug with charting that will place a random note or event where I don't want one :/
This is my opinion. 1. Kade Engine is mostly coding and stuff for modding, targeting experinced coders. Psych Engine is just giving you the easy way out. Kade actually gives you plenty of options. It's better for you to use Kade so you can do more than what Psych does. 2. The effects on Kade feel just fine, you can even add some other effects (I think), Psych Engine's effects are just either weird or unnoticable. One effect you have to watch over and over for an achievement. The only thing you should be your eyes on is the arrows. It's like driving a car: the scenery is good, but you have to focus on where your driving to. Kade Engine is just fine. Psych Engine is also just ok. 3. Kade Engine is straight-forward. Do/Make a song with a blue haired thing against someone else. Psych Engine gives you more to do, it adds achievements, the stuff in the settings. It just gives you more options. However, it kinda distracts you from doing other things. I mean, I am still trying to beat the "watch thw henchmen die for 100 times" one. 4. These two engines are the most popular because someof their differences to the main game while others have other differences but don't get as much attention. Try the other ones, maybe! Im even making my own in the future. (Why is this a reason again) Thats my opinion, but I don't like FNF, so your reading from a disliker's perspective.
I would say that psych is easier for making basic stuff, and is therefore better for simpler mods, where as kade is better for the easier coding + all the extra stuff that you can leave players to work out, making it better for bigger mods
I like Psych mostly because its fairly simple to use and making mods is a lot easier because of its mods folder and because most mods I like are made in it I also sometimes ike to just disable vocals and turn on make sound for when BF or the opponent hits a note and listen to the "singing"
I did 5 ports for psych engine because it's easier to code there I did Smoke em out struggle, vs annie, arcade showdown, tales from the raveyard and high effort hank
I mostly prefer psych engine because cade engine is just i mean when it comes up to like overchartted songs its just gonna be working because of the animation.
Now, speaking as a person who doesn’t know how to code, I prefer pysch engine due to obvious reasons that everyone has stated already. However, in terms of which one is better? I’d say that if one actually knew how to code, and was attempting to make a big mod and are willing to put in the large amount of time for it, then Kade is likely better. Again, I wouldn’t know since I don’t code, but I’m assuming that’s the case.
I would choose pysch engine -The name sounds pretty cool -built in modding thing whatever its called -those effect things (shown on blammed) -splash notes awesome!!! -the input is good -and awards are quite nice to get
Everyone talks about which engine is better, but I don't hear enough people talking about how awesome it could be if we mashed up Kade & Psyche together
Psych also has a Character Customizer, so that way you won’t have to dig around the .xml files much Sure, Kade (I think) has one too, but it crashes a lot
I prefer Psych engine WAY more. I love that you can change you can change your note colors on psych engine. There's also a bug for me on Kade engine where if i only press one key. It makes me multiple that 2 times.
I honestly like psych engine because of the background added to the weeks and we get to see the credits and enable middle scroll and how the enemies health bar color change and the splash tapping and the color details for blammed and like how we change our keybinds and awards I don't have a computer to play
My opinion, in Kade Engine, you can do more things but it's harder because it's coding rather than doing it ingame so you can do what you want. In Psych Engine, you can do some stuff but less things because you do it ingame and it might not have an option for what you want, maybe unless you download the source.
Kade honestly feels a lot more clunky and unpolished, like it’s a dev tool more than anything. Psych feels like a clean, genuine improvement to the base engine and really feels like what the full official game could be.
I prefer Psych for multiple reasons: 1. Modding is easier now, and has a good amount of flexibility, and I can’t really script but there are still things I can do without LUA scripting 2. Middle scroll, helps with my readability 3. Charting is cooler, I can add events without additional scripting, just take a script from another mod (since I can’t script) and then I can apply those custom events and notes into my chart (an example is a chart for School I recreated with Accelerant bullet notes and Philly Glow event)
I think psych engine is better for mods that want to change characters or backgrounds mid song but i feel Kade engine is more for that mods that are mostly spam (matt) or need more accuracy
Also, for Psych engine is pretty good because not only people can just put images in the mods folder or something like that, there is also LUA script support with a wiki that explains each function really well. And also the custom note type system. People can either use the source code or lua to make custom note types or events. So I would choose Psych Engine.
Antoher cool thing i love is in kade engine when your game freezes during a song but continues after sometime you die even if your notes weren't supposed be onm at the time. But in psych engine The bot corrects this by basically keeping track of the notes and pressing them which is why it spams after you unfreeze to prevent you dying. I have a potato pc so makes sense
I honestly like psych engine because it adds splash effects and the color effects for the bagrounds and the background for the menu weeks and for the colors for the health bar and the middle scroll
Kade Engine is what started mods, but I think Psych Engine is superior. To me, that is so that maybe someday I can make a mod with people who make the best mods.
I prefer psych engine for messing around taking assets , scripts ect. beacuse in kade engine everything is hardcoded and in the source code so really you cannot mess around with it.
Psych Engine Is My preffered one. Reasons: °It's Friendlier for coding beginners °It Can Make Mods Look Hella Great °The Options are Simplified, which is nice °It Has Rewards, and Rewards are cool °The Input System In Psych Engine is still good
Wow I didn’t expect psych to be looking so much easier than Kade. It doesn’t even require code and overall the charting and graphics are much better. I think I might use it for mods.
Tbh I got the handle of editing characters in psych aswell as kade, the only slight difference is character changing, for kade its freezes then goes to the character, but for psych it's smooth, just wanted to point that out

Just gotta say the damage notes being so easy to put in makes it so there ain’t a single psych engine mod without them
Not sure about on PC but for making mods on Mobile Psych Engine is easily the best
Not only is it the least laggy engine EXPECIALLY with optimized sprite packs, but the character editor REALLY helps with fixing sprites
Only real issue with it is a bug with charting that will place a random note or event where I don't want one :/
So true
(Why is this a reason again)
Thats my opinion, but I don't like FNF, so your reading from a disliker's perspective.
I would say that psych is easier for making basic stuff, and is therefore better for simpler mods, where as kade is better for the easier coding + all the extra stuff that you can leave players to work out, making it better for bigger mods
I didn't know I'd find you here lol
I like Psych mostly because its fairly simple to use and making mods is a lot easier because of its mods folder and because most mods I like are made in it
I also sometimes ike to just disable vocals and turn on make sound for when BF or the opponent hits a note and listen to the "singing"
Kade good input system+ physic engine good modding = Great Engine
i wish theres an engine that combine both pysch and kade engine
I did 5 ports for psych engine because it's easier to code there
I did Smoke em out struggle, vs annie, arcade showdown, tales from the raveyard and high effort hank
Im going for Kade Engine because its so cool so you can do whatever you want to customize the settings :)
good comparison
I mostly prefer psych engine because cade engine is just i mean when it comes up to like overchartted songs its just gonna be working because of the animation.
Psych engine is better than Kade engine
Agreed
Agrees
Yes
K
Definitely
I still remember when engine wars for this game was relevant
Aged amazingly
Now, speaking as a person who doesn’t know how to code, I prefer pysch engine due to obvious reasons that everyone has stated already.
However, in terms of which one is better?
I’d say that if one actually knew how to code, and was attempting to make a big mod and are willing to put in the large amount of time for it, then Kade is likely better. Again, I wouldn’t know since I don’t code, but I’m assuming that’s the case.
I would choose pysch engine
-The name sounds pretty cool
-built in modding thing whatever its called
-those effect things (shown on blammed)
-splash notes awesome!!!
-the input is good
-and awards are quite nice to get
Psych. But everyone should honor Kade Engine. A true masterpiece in time of need.
The kade engine is how a lot mods emerged
both
tru
Agreed :)
Everyone talks about which engine is better, but I don't hear enough people talking about how awesome it could be if we mashed up Kade & Psyche together
What if we mash up mic'd engine and psyche engine, it would more better
Psych also has a Character Customizer, so that way you won’t have to dig around the .xml files much
Sure, Kade (I think) has one too, but it crashes a lot
that is the OG FNF animation debug left over.
I prefer Psych engine WAY more. I love that you can change you can change your note colors on psych engine. There's also a bug for me on Kade engine where if i only press one key. It makes me multiple that 2 times.
Psych engine is better in my opinion
The kade engine sure did evolve while i was looking at psych
psych is way better in my opinion
We just need psych and kade to merge their engines together for the perfect engine
Kade Engine to me
@Lucas same. I meant to say that both are good.
Also psyche engine comes with built in hurt notes which is pretty cool
Fun fact: psych engine used kade engine to make that engine
I honestly like psych engine because of the background added to the weeks and we get to see the credits and enable middle scroll and how the enemies health bar color change and the splash tapping and the color details for blammed and like how we change our keybinds and awards I don't have a computer to play
4:33 BRO THE SUBTITLES GOT ME💀
My opinion, in Kade Engine, you can do more things but it's harder because it's coding rather than doing it ingame so you can do what you want. In Psych Engine, you can do some stuff but less things because you do it ingame and it might not have an option for what you want, maybe unless you download the source.
In short:
Kade Engine: More for experienced users and coders
Psych Engine: more for beginners
In my opinion, I like both engines. It really doesn't matter to me which engine is used
4:34 Literalmente si pones español los subtitulos dice soy g*y
Tri, Chiu, Juan, G A Y
you forgot the bg freaks being all glitchy and stuff in thorns
Imagine if both combined
:freeze:
Then a AwEsOmE gAmE
kpsyadech
@@bfrxcrpgfhanzux no it's gonna be psychkade engine
@@bfrxcrpgfhanzux psyde engine
I prefer psych engine more only because there's an option for low quality which is good for my weak laptop
I awsered psych engines, i love this game❗
You totally missed the "mods" folder in Psych, it's super useful and you don't need to use the "assets" folder for almost anything!
Psych
imagine if these both will be combined
psych engine
Kade honestly feels a lot more clunky and unpolished, like it’s a dev tool more than anything. Psych feels like a clean, genuine improvement to the base engine and really feels like what the full official game could be.
Nah man frick psych and kade imma use scratch
LOL
Same
LMAO
4:31 activate subtitles
*IM GAY*
I prefer Psych for multiple reasons:
1. Modding is easier now, and has a good amount of flexibility, and I can’t really script but there are still things I can do without LUA scripting
2. Middle scroll, helps with my readability
3. Charting is cooler, I can add events without additional scripting, just take a script from another mod (since I can’t script) and then I can apply those custom events and notes into my chart (an example is a chart for School I recreated with Accelerant bullet notes and Philly Glow event)
Now we need Psych Engine and V-Slice update comparison
2:28 Oh look! Pibby lights!
I would choose pysch but there is no middle scroll so im choosing kade but however it doesn’t bother me that much so i would choose pysch
Ummmmm, you can actually enable middlescroll on PE, is in the Options.
@@RustyLeguitoyeah
Peeps a new engine is in the works with even a built in map editor and even easier modding
I prefer psych engine for messing around taking assets , scripts ect. beacuse in kade engine everything is hardcoded and in the source code so really you cannot mess around with it.
Psych Engine Is My preffered one. Reasons:
°It's Friendlier for coding beginners
°It Can Make Mods Look Hella Great
°The Options are Simplified, which is nice
°It Has Rewards, and Rewards are cool
°The Input System In Psych Engine is still good
Yeah but kades is better
2:24 me when the imposter from mong us is sus
At last! This worthy comparison often we waited!
Wow I didn’t expect psych to be looking so much easier than Kade. It doesn’t even require code and overall the charting and graphics are much better. I think I might use it for mods.
I loved the gameplay part on blammed.
While psych is easier to do. Kade engine can do ALOT of things
i will pick physic engine because you can make a mod easliy, and also to mention about the note splashes they are really cool
Tbh I got the handle of editing characters in psych aswell as kade, the only slight difference is character changing, for kade its freezes then goes to the character, but for psych it's smooth, just wanted to point that out
