- In this video I share what books I have in my FNTN and how I use it. Towards the end, there's a flip through section on travel journaling.

I've watched this several times. I really enjoy your presentation. I recently decided to stop keeping a journal however I became interested in Traveler's Journals when I happened on them while pursuing a more minimalist life. I decided to get the FN size because I had loads of empty FNs. Suddenly, my interest in journaling reignited. My love for TNs has grown exponentially thanks to vloggers like you. Thank you.
Evangeline Brown Thanks Evangeline! It's why I do what I do... so glad to be able to encourage others in "documenting life as it happens". I appreciate your kind comments and I'm sorry but just now saw this. Blessings! r.
Thanks for sharing. Moleskine has perfect planners the same size as FieldNotes. I use them every year
I was very anxious about being separated from 'older' entries, which is why I kept a hardback Leuchtturm that 'lasted' for months and months. I came back to TN because I learned that keeping a separate insert for each category--to do, journaling, collections/ etc. was more sensible than flipping about. RyanCarrol helped the whole world of journaling with his bullet system, but the system in aTN? Priceless. Now you have rocked my world in showing that simple, portable and yet fulfilling is better yet! And when you said that filling a book was satisfying I related immediately. I have a coupon holder that I really like and it has notebooks waiting their turn and filled memory/documentary/my life notebooks all in one place. Voila! no anxiety and a new adventure with Field Notes size. Space cannot tell of my father, my mother and an attic full of matching journals I found in my childhood. Thank you for adding to my 'store' of great ideas!! my old gift cards are washi loaded and it's time to record today's 'echo'. thanks again.
ps. I think it is very cute that you love to journal everything!
I see why this has so many views. This was such a lovely and giving video, bless you!
Thank you for sharing!..very inspiring and helpful to many!...I myself have changed to a smaller journalA6.. Size and I'm loving it....your journal your way, your life your way!....may many memories fill those pages...enjoy!
Such a great video. Thanks for sharing your FN books and your system. Love seeing this and agree it's better to document as it happens.
Sandy Mohon - Thank you!
I like your journaling style. Simple and fun. The memorabilia really helps to highlight the memories.
For years when my family gets together I use a regular journal to document our encounters. One of the things that works extremely well for me is to carry a small notebook, like what you can get at the Dollar Tree, and write crib notes in it. Since I get behind on some days I do not worry about forgetting something.funny or informational that happened. The journal writing for the trip is always finished once I get home. For more than 10 years this has worked for me. This year I will use a TN, but only for crib notes until they are written in my full sized journal which is the one that has tidbits and photos . I carry a FN sized notebook with me every day.
Carol Gallupe ~ One day, I'll be as organized, I hope :)))
Thank you so much for this helpful video. I've had my Midori for several months but I'm only beginning to unravel its mysteries. You have given me some great ideas.
This was fun and helpful to watch. I really like this style of memory keeping. Keeping it quick and easy helps me to actually do it. 😀
That Travel Journal is a work of art! Abs beautiful! And such a nice video. I can relate, how many times I've brought a Travel Journal which stays at the hotel.. then my intention to make entries when I get back home, yup, it never happens. lol I also like your suggestions for your every day journaling. You've sparked my imagination! Thank you! :)
This is first time watching your videos! Thank you for the tips on easy journaling. If it's not easy, I won't do it either. Thanks again for sharing!
I like the convenience of just one Field Notebook for now, but this is great to keep in mind for the future!
Love your videos. I too love the field notes size! After all the years...I was a 12 x 12 scrapbooker and now I just LOVE doing the same thing except a field note size notebook. :)
Love your video!!! Lots of good info and tips. Thank your for sharing your books.
ohlovelyqs -- Thanks so much! I appreciate it!
Love your travelers book. I just bought my field notes and cover so I can get started on my next trip! Thanks for this video!
Amazing what all you can do and put in these FNTN's!
I really enjoyed the video! I have had the same problem with too big travel journals and finally decided for an A6 which I believe is a similar size to field notes. I love the way you explained everything on the video, you have an awesome voice and you talk super clearly!!
+gatosandwichera --- wow, thanks so much for your kind words!
Hey I loved your video!! I am actually going to paris in march I was wandering if you could spell the name of the store you were talking about?
The calendar is exactly what I needed, thank you very much.
Very nice flip through - especially liked the tip about putting washi tape around a card to keep in notebook. Brilliant! (Watching in 2021 - "If you ever get to Paris..." The farthest from home I've been since March 2020 is the next county...lol.)
So helpful as i struggle with using the large midori vs. a personal size - great info - thanks for the video.
Karen Yanonis I have the classic sized Midori as well and it was difficult to give it a rest. It really doesn't seem like a big deal but the weight was contributing to my neck feeling tense regularly. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Midori... using it for my church notes so it has one insert and a leather type wallet ;)
I'm off on a short trip later this month and deciding if I should leave the full size home and totally jump into the smaller size - so I'll let you know how that turns out - as I hate to carry too much while traveling - so I think the one i purchased from you will be perfect.
Karen Yanonis -- Yes! Please do let me know how it works out! I really am loving this size.
Excellent video! I enjoyed that VERY much. I too am something of a documentation fanatic, and although I don't travel - except in my mind. :) - I've been keeping a "Life as it happens" journal since November 17, 1986. I love being able to pull out exact dates on things like that, and reliving them in my mind. I think it's a great brain exercise too.
I do all of my journaling on computer, and even though the editor has changed over time (qedit, zEdit, and now Emacs "org-mode") the format is always pure text. Even so, I also keep snippets of things (in plastic containers) that remind me of those events, much like what you do with business cards, pictures, and so forth.
You've given me some GREAT ideas on refining my method of handling the snippets, and for that, I'm grateful. Keep up the good work and I look forward to subsequent videos.
Bill Zimmerly Thank You! That's great you've kept up the journaling that long! Good job!
Very nice overview! Thank you for sharing!
After watching this video I'm even more anxious to receive my TN from you. I've already made a small insert for it and have ordered my field notebook inserts. :D
Mely Anai It's in production as we speak! :)
Awesome video! I really enjoyed it :) I don't usually journal while I'm travelling, but will do what I can once I get back to the hotel or once I'm back at home. I try my best to organize my memorabilia/bit and pieces in days so that I don't feel so overwhelmed with all the pieces. thanks for sharing!
MyLifeMits ~ Thanks so much! I enjoy your videos as well! Thanks for stopping by.
I learned so much!!! TFS!! ❤️👍🏽
Norma Obregon ¥ou're very welcome! Thank you for stopping by!

Thank you so much. This was very helpful.
Great breakdown
I like this. Thanks!
Thanks for sharing this
Sooooooo good! Thank you!
Michelle Aldrich Merci!
hi there, what is the notebook cover for the fieldnotes (light tan colour). It's not midori, so wondering which one you're using? thanks
Thank you for a great video. I was curious about the size of the field notes and you answered my questions. I love how you add the photos to your short trip pages. How do you get the photos to print so small and do you print on glossy photo paper. Thanks.
+Paula Touhey Hi Paula! I use the Canon Selphy (you can print from your phone too). I use the diptick app and usually use the 4 squared frame. The paper is semi glossy, that's how it comes. Let me know if you have other questions. Thanks!
What size is your cover for the field notes notebook? Would this be an A6 size?
@@dleon3406 it’s a fieldnotes size. We also make A6 folios.
Great video thank you
Sandra Giraud Awww, thanks!
Loved the video. I find that a 8cm wide journal is perfect to fit in a male shirt pocket - but I have trouble finding the size outside of Japanese stores. ( Miro notebooks ). Its only a hair less wide than the FN but it makes the difference in the fit :) - Love the leather cover you have. Do you have a link to it?
Very interesting, how long have you been doing this and what do you do with your journals when they are complete? Thanks.
In Julie's W. orld
Great video! I'm also dabbling in the FN size and have really been liking it for my EDC. I'd love to know which pen you use for your daily journaling. Your handwriting is similar to mine and I love the way it looks in the FN books. Thanks!
I hope that my videos become this informative for other people at some point
I really enjoy your videos. May I ask what do you use to get such wonderful tiny pictures of family to fit in the field note size notebooks? Thank you.
Hello, can you please link either the store website or google map link for the stationary store in Paris?
I like your video! What was the name of that stationary store at Paris?
LeoWiesel ~ Merci. There's a video that I saw on how to get there and shows what it looks like inside but couldn't find it...
Hey I loved your video! I am going to paris next march and I was wandering if you could spell the name of the shop you talked about?
I believe she was talking about Merci.
thank you for this video. could you please write me the name of that stationary store in paris ? you got me interested but i didn't catch it.
DarkLittlePeople - sorry, I thought I answered this a long time ago... It's called Merci
ok - merci ! ;)
Ahh i love you. I also feel connected to you cause i have the same ring and I wear it on the same finger but on my left hand :-) where did you buy your traveler's notebook from?
cheesecakefiend -- sorry, I thought I replied to this. Haha, which ring? I make and sell the Field Notes Traveler's Notebook.
Hello. I know this is an older video but is journaling sage still around?
Do you use a Midori cover for your Field Notes journals or something else?
iabrochium ~ I hand make them and sell it as well.
