    That dinner must taste especially good when you know you're on the way to the Bahamas.

    I look forward to your family adventure and of course, the ongoing maintenance that is part of the journey. But almost always, the best part of any episode is Molly's smile. Well, both the ladies...:)

    Very good cowboy, that's how I like to see you, let's tame that bull. Greetings to your family, especially your first officer, Miss Molly. My daughter Juana is the same age, you can imagine... but she doesn't really like being a first officer, rather a diner. 😏

    So happy to see you back on the water! Enjoyed this very much but will make one observation for you. While moving the gasoline container towards the generator avoid sliding it on the fiberglass surface, it builds a lot of static electricity, as does the plastic siphon hose. I like you guys, so - be careful out there.

    You had me worried there, I thought you said you were "In denial". Nice when everything just works. Just waiting for the new sailing season on this side of the pond and working on the upgrades.

    When I began watching the video I was concerned you might have become a Nihilist, but as I continued watching it became apparent you are just a wild and crazy guy.

    Another project to do would be to make coveres for all your fuel jugs. We found uncovered the sun will crack the tanks usually at the handles in about two to three years of exposure. Great video.

      It's one that we've considered each off-season, but so far we've just had other projects that have taken priority. We'll get to it eventually, but by then it might be time for new jerries!

    It would seem that your weather hadn't warmed up much during this part of your voyage South. Just how do you heat the interior while underway? Loved that Honda generator starting on the first pull. Who said they lost the war? Did the water maker work OK ? Surprised you made any water while still in the Coastal, looks kind of sketchy to say the least! That shaker syphon really looked like it did the job very nicely too!

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  8 месяцев назад +1

      We don't heat the interior, just bundle up. The engine does heat things up a little though. Yeah, the Honda generators are fantastic, but I do always drain the carb and fuel tank each season, pre-filter all the gas that goes in, and use a stabilizer. Water could technically be made directly from a septic tank. I'm not sure why folks get so freaked out by making water from inland water sources, but good golly they sure do. It's very clear that most people have much depth of understanding of watermakers abilities and limitations, but that's ok. The shock and awe comments are always entertaining. Just takes a little common sense and care, but otherwise the output water is always just the same. The jiggle syphons are such a simple device that drastically reducing the work involved with moving heavy liquids around. Dead-simple, and it just works.

    Love the grill mod. I also thought the "marine" grills were a waste of money and I found a stainless steel Char Broil table top grill for like $80 and drilled a few holes in the legs, added some clamps and have been using it on the back of my boat for around 4 yrs. Granted lake sailing isn't near as hard on things as what you're doing. Glad you all are back and looking forward to the season. Good luck!

    Kudos on the clever grill mount. You can move and mount that to any railing. Stern rail, bow sprit, dinghy rail (if it had one). Curious if tiffany's by the sea carries the Weber. The last time I was in there it was all Magma stuff.

    I like your grill solution. I’ve had a couple of Magmas and have been very disappointed with their performance and longevity, especially considering the premium cost. Might try your solution next time.

    If you shake it more than twice , you’re playing with it. 😂I worked in a photo lab (yes I’m old) and the difference between men and women was that men tapped the chemical spout a couple of times and the women didn’t.

    I’m glad to see you are using a jiggly syphon. What a great tool. Btw, how does the anchor sail work? Is it large enough for your boat?

    Ben do you really where you bought your solar panel mounts? The one that hook to the round railing.

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  8 месяцев назад +1

      Not exactly, but they’re from an overseas company. It’s tricky because the website isn’t in English and has to be translated. There’s no branding on the clamps themselves. They’re all aluminum. Going to take some detective work, but they’re the best rail clamps for solar panels out there, IMO.

    Why not tow the dinghy sometimes ?

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  8 месяцев назад +2

      We often do, but rarely in the ICW. Opening bridges are the main problem. It’s fine when just cruising straight for hours, but when maneuvers are required, especially in a counter current, the dinghy would bang into the boat and risk the painter getting sucked into the prop. Also cuts down on drag.

    Any marina not selling ethanol free only shouldn't be selling gas at all.

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  8 месяцев назад +1

      In the States, many of them are selling ethanol free. In the Bahamas, I've not known any that we've been to be selling ethanol free.

      @Sailboatstory one of the local marinas here on Hartwell struggles to sell water free gas let alone ethanol free.
