    Someone had a good day. Great places to hang out and explore, lovely clear water. Maybe next time show us the little creatures you spotted.

    Turned out to be a GREAT dinghy! The tiller extension was a gangsta idea, too.

    So glad you got the Yamaha 15 HP. I had a Yamaha 15 4 stroke on my 14' Sea Nymph for over 20 years and it moved me along a 17 to 19 mph with ease. You should be able to do the same or a little better all day long. Love your videos and glad you are back on the water.

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад

      Oh yeah, that 15 2 stroke is almost too fast, even with all 3 of us aboard. Loving that motor on the dinghy. Turned out to be a great combo.

    I think for this season Molly needs a solid promotion. Perhaps Coxwain or "she who pilots the dinghy". Said promotion comes with a really neat hat and a tattoo. Ok, maybe the insignia tattoo is a bit much for now, but definitely a cool hat.

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад

      The hat is a nice idea, but she refuses to accept any title other than Swabby. She likes it too much.

    Could you lift the dinghy transom in the center with a halyard and then it should be easier to spin it upright? Perhaps another line on the bow eye as well.

    The dinghy is working out great. Is harder or easier to put on deck than your previous one?

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад

      Neither, just different. They were both awkward in their own ways.

    Awesome video y’all. Does one have to go further south to get palm trees and white beaches?

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад +1

      Nope. Just go to those types of areas. Although. Palm trees are surprisingly rare in the Bahamas.

    I was just wondering if Shark Creek has much of a tidal influence (if so, did you wait until around high tide to go)? When I was anchored in the Bahamas, it was always nice to see my boat when returning from an adventure. Anchors do work 😁

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely. It’s nearly dry at low tide.

    Yay! Ben has new mirror shades at last!
    About time.. that last pair were looking pretty ratty. (Speaking of which, you do seem to be pretty rough on them, mate!)

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve had this fresh pair for a while. The trouble is that the salt water spray makes the color come off the lenses badly, so I rarely wear them. The old ones sure do look ratty, but I’m carefree when wearing them. Even if they get lost overboard, no biggie!

    • @Garryck-1
      @Garryck-1 9 месяцев назад +1

      @@Sailboatstory - I'd often wondered why they deteriorate so quickly and completely.. that explains a lot. Thanks!

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад +1

      So the salt makes spots where the color comes off and that distorts the vision through the glasses. When it gets bad enough I literally take salt water and scrub the rest of the color off. Clear vision restored, but then they look horrible. That’s been the story with probably close to 10 pairs of shades I use on the boat.

    Curious... How are U liking the LUND over past dingus'? I like em. Mostly fuel economy, transit times, and most important The RIDE??? They can be a little slappy in short chop, but very stable. Keep giggling. 😋😛

    • @Sailboatstory
      @Sailboatstory  9 месяцев назад

      Dingus. 😂 Anyways, I've got you. We love it, o course we love our nesting dinghy as well, but this one is waaaaaay faster and gives us incredible range. The nesting dinghy really only gave us the ability to explore the surrounding anchorage, but it was smaller, simpler, and was a lot of fun to sail around as well. We do adjust speed in chop to not slap the flat bottom, but it's no big deal. We can still plane, just more slowly to keep the angled V of the bow lower and splitting the chop.
