Gorgeous bowl! Painting with fire is so much more deeper an effect than had you merely stained it. It gives the bowl an ancient feel yet modern at the same time. Love this. Thank you!
Très belle œuvre !!❤ un traitement de choc, pour un très beau résultat.. le contraste entre l’intérieur et l’extérieur est incroyablement magnifique !! J’adore 🥰 ❤ 👏👏👍👍
Thanks Doug😉 Yes, in fact it is preferable to use a torch with a fine and powerful nozzle to be able to dig deep in several passes. Here I made two passes but I could have done more.
It's beautiful! I love the burnt technique, it gives such warmth and richness to the wood and shows off the grain well. I like the fact you left the inside as is for contrast. Lovely handmade craftsmanship. 👏❤️
Hi Morgan you are so talented, I like how you burnt the bowl along the grain, it looks magnificent and totally unique. Thanks for a great video and your hard work. Amanda xx
Thank you Alan😉👍 I hesitated before burning this log but took a good look at it. , I saw its tender and gummy veining, so I imagine that it would have a nice effect when in contact with the flame 😉
What a beautiful juxtaposition and transformation. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace brother
Thank you Racheal😊 Indeed the technique of burning wood is interesting but not on just any species. Here I used a chestnut tree but which was cut at a certain period, which gives it a particular structure👍
The accent and luster of the outside of this vessel is quite unbelievable . Also, can you provide me the instructions used to make your pouring mold, and holder for resin materials. I know you had said you made them yourself, and as I'm in the USA to ask you to make and mail would be quite expensive. Thank you, John
Lol, I saw a little spider 🕷️ run up the board when you first started burning the wood. Does it have a name? Surprised all I notice. Your work is beautiful....
That looked like an oxy acetylene welding torch you used to scorch the chestnut. I like it, it works so fast. Your gouge seems to have a very steep angle grind on it, or are my eyes going wonky? Is it sweet or horse chestnut? Questions questions eh? To be honest, I wasn't keen on the shape, but the finish was really nice. Best regards 🙃
Hi John Yes indeed it is an acetylene torch whose flame can rise to 3000 degrees Celsius, it can do some nice things as long as you adjust it well. I like to have several different angles on my bowl gouges because as this wood was very soft, a more open angle would have worked differently. This log comes from a chestnut tree but which was cut at the start of winter.😉
I love how you can make even flaws spectacularly beautiful....(kind of like God does with us😊 OH BTW did you know your name means 'Sea-Song'...cool huh)
I love this bowl!!!
It's like a phoenix... reborne from flames..🔥
The beauty from the inside!!!
And endless subtele and modest...
Amazing!!! 🤩🎩👍👍🇩🇪🔨
Ralph😊thank you i’m very glad you like it😉
The simplest ones can be the most beautiful, and this bowl is a great example of this.
Thank you Deb😉👍👍
It looks a lot like an art stylized impression of a walnut shell!
Margaret
yes that's kind of the idea😉👍

Possum
Yes and then the advantage of the resin is that the bowl is now fossilized and it will no longer move
An extraordinary piece, brought to the forefront of simple, yet elegant function. A joy as always to watch.
Hi john

I am usually not a fan of scorched wood, but you proved your superior knowledge of the technique and produced a brilliant result, well done ( again ).
Thank you Alan😉👍

yes I will soon make a video to explain how I make my molds😉
Lol, I saw a little spider 🕷️ run up the board when you first started burning the wood. Does it have a name? Surprised all I notice. Your work is beautiful....
Stéphanie 😊
it's acetylene soot..that's why we see me increasing the oxygen at the same time..but indeed we could also have seen a small spider😉
Geweldig mooie schaal !!
Thank you very much 😉👍
It's really beautiful!! ❤❤ However, after you completed the piece did it have any lingering smells of charred/burnt wood?
Thank you Bonita
Your question is interesting🧐
No, the piece has no smell since I impregnated the entire bowl with resin.
Nice :)))
Thank you Laurie🌸❤️❤️
A very "HOT" bowl :)
😉👍

Virginia❤️
Thank you I'm very flattered😊
What name are you talking about? Morgan? or baw?
@@bawbreizhartwood Morgan...it means sea-song or sea-born...Now I think of it, that was the name of a famous sea captain...
Nicely done. I like the resin on top of the scorching. Do you feel the resin you put on the inside is food safe?
Your question is very interesting.
In fact I used a mineral resin which is compatible with food contact😉
Looks like a ham. =) 10:44 mark. =)
Thank you Mark 👍
That absolutely lovely. I wish you would wear safety gloves. ❤❤😊
Thanks Karen❤️
you're right, you need to wear gloves with the resin😉
♥️♥️♥️
