Turning Right to Go Left, Following Jesus' Backwards Wisdom - Luke

Looking forward to a new year, we explore Luke 9:31-50 after Jesus has come down from the mount of transfiguration and finds his disciples unable to cast out a demon from a child, then confess that they had even stopped someone else from casting out demons in His name because he wasn't part of their group.
We trace some of the "easter eggs" in the text and discover that the disciples cannot follow the ways of their culture. As members of the kingdom of God, they need to learn a new way, the Jesus way, a way that seems backwards from everything they know. In the words of Doc Hudson from the Cars movie, they need to "turn right to go left."
