Thanks buddy. This video is very helpful. I've never seen how to put one of these in. I've been growing my beard for 3 months now and it's getting to the point where I can do something like this with it. Do you have any suggestions for how to grow beard faster?
While 70% of beard growth is purely genetics, there are a 3 big things you can do. 1- improve your diet. A healthy diet will improve many facets of your life, your beard is one of them. 2 - work out. Working out will increase certain hormone levels in your body naturally which will help promote beard growth. 3 - maintain your beard. This will entail a regular regimen of washing your beard with beard soap, brushing it, conditioning it with beard oil or beard balm ( I show you how to use beard balm on my channel and I'm developing my own line currently) and trimming split ends. There are a number of things that can negatively impact your beard growth and they should be avoided as much as possible. Poor diet, showering too often, extreme heat or cold, pulling on your beard and stress will all hinder your growth. Good luck on your beard and thank you for subscribing! I hope to hear from you in the future!
Ty for your like and response. I must have good genetics. I can grow a full man chew in less than what seems like 2 days. No Shave November is near and dear to my heart even before I lost my mom to cancer in 2012. She was only 52. I usually look like a war-wolf by November 15th. I struggle with getting my beard to grow past three or four inches. Also I struggle with 3 of the things you suggested I don"t do, heat (because crawling in attics are a part of my job) and pulling on my beard because its a nervous habit of mine when I"m thinking or stressed. What would you suggest for a healthy diet? I will try what you suggested and let you know how it is going. Again thanks and I look forward to communicating in the future.
Pretty much anything that contains the minerals and vitamins that hair requires to grow. Orange juice, potatoes, gelatin, Brazil nuts, raisins, beef, sorghum and eggs. Lots of eggs lol This will encourage all your hair to grow faster and healthier, just remember that. Also, the best thing you can do for protecting your beard in the heat is use a beard balm. It'll help lock in moisture and it'll give nutrients directly to the hair follicles. As for pulling on the beard, I used to have that problem myself. I would take a small bit, wrap it around my finger and tug... and tug... and tug. Stroking your beard it good for it, pulling and tugging bad. It's just a habit you need to break. Good luck on your growth!
Take biotin, the maximum dose you can find. It won't harm the body and excess biotin will just pass through your body. It encourages hair growth as well as stronger nails and better skin. Find a beard oil or serum with hemp seed oil in it as well as it helps to promote growth.
Yes, biotin would help but is really unnecessary if you have a good diet as your body naturally makes biotin and there is a very small amount actually needed for your body to function properly. The only three reasons to take biotin are if your body has a lack of it, you have unusually brittle hair and nails or you are pregnant. Beard oil, balm and serum, while they are great for your hair, beard and skin, don't really promote growth, that is a factor of free testosterone and dietary nutrients. They help supplement the natural oils found in your skin. Your skin only produces a certain amount of oil and as your beard grows, your skin can not keep up with the oil production necessary to keep both the skin and beard healthy. This is why your beard can feel dry and your skin feels itchy. I've learned all of this over the last several months while researching and experimenting with my own line of beard balm. I am able to cite my source information if you need. In short, the easiest and cheapest way to get a healthy beard is to not shower so often that you deplete your skins natural oils, eat a healthy diet, and care for your face.
sweet dude just got my first viking beard bead in thanks to you! i had bought a small crochet hook but they dont seem to work too well. I didnt have floss but found some string and it worked perfectly! thanks man!
i need to figure out how to braid it. the only thing holding the beads in is the pure thickness of it. I've been growing for about a year and it's definitely long enough. i just dont know how.
haha thanks bro! i may get some hair ties and try myself but definitely still do it because I'm sure you have tips I dont. i just got my beads yesterday and this was my first chance to try. i'm stoked man thanks again. got yourself a subscriber.
Your right about the ladies loving it. I get more compliments when i have my beard braided ( Jack Sparrow ) style of course more than when its more relaxed.
Well you have to realize that you are taking the time to show that you care about your appearance. It also is something that is fairly unique in this day and age so it catches the eye! May I ask, what kind of beard bead do you wear?
I dress as Jack Sparrow at Halloween and renassiance faires, which makes me a magnet due to the character, so I use film accurate beads made by Swagarts.
Hey man, just wanted to thank you for these videos. It is obvious to me that you genuinely care about this niche thing enough to invest time and money into it. With this info I should be able to better contain my curly beard. (It waves because I have a natural multicoloured/red beard and grows in bouts of different colours)
Mine does the exact same thing. I have maybe 6 or 7 different colors of hair in my beard and they all come in different thicknesses and levels of coarseness. Before I started braiding my beard and making beard balm, it was a rough, scratchy mess. Now, it's soft and pleasant.
Awesome video, thanks a lot! Just bought myself two beads. But on the shops homepage, they never write down how to attach the bead! It helped a lot, thanks! =)
Man you make it look easy. I was all thumbs when I followed your directions, but my beard is a little thicker and longer than yours. It turned out okay, but I guess it will take a little practice. i'm going to order your carved beads, but what I did in the mean time is cut a piece of a dowel stick and drilled a 1/8 hole in the center then took a thin nail and wrapped a piece of sand paper around it to smooth out the drilled part and also sanded the edges of where I cut the dowel stick..
It all comes down to practice. One thing that really helps; make sure the string stays TIGHT! If you give it any slack, it becomes a monumental task. At least, that was my biggest problem when learning how to do this.
Thank you very much! Once I get my new lathe tool rest, I'll be doing a video on how I make them. Also, if you're interested, I sell some that I've made already over at my store: etsy.com/shop/Knightsmith And don't forget to Subscribe! I release new content every Friday!
That is correct. I am currently out of stock and don't have a way to manufacture any more at this point. It'll be a few months till I'm able to make more. Thank you for visiting my site and for your patience!
Have you tried Jack Sparrow style dual braids? I'm growing a goatee, and something like this thing shown on the video is easier to do on a daily basis.
If you check back in later today, I will have a video covering this very topic! With my beard beads and this method, you can leave them in for days! I sleep with mine in and for the most part, forget that I even have it in. If you're worried about time, you'd only have to do this once or twice a week.
+Knightsmith alright. Because I'm honestly looking to do more of a thin string wrap as opposed to beads if you know what I mean. But alas, I cannot find anything on them anywhere, at least when it comes to long facial hair anyway.
That's not a beard bro, It seems your Goat T is very wispy, is this the way it's always been or is it because your pulling hairs by binding it in the bead? Thanks for sharing, this has been really informative . Keep on growin!!
R Doobies friction between the wood and your beard. Basically, the more hair you can fit into It, the better it'll stay, hence the twisting your beard as tight as possible with the thread or floss.
I have about a 12-15" goatee. I like to braid it, and I have always used a clear tie at the bottom, but I want to put in just a plain silver ball to weight it down so it wont curl.. There is no fullness that low. Im thinking of running one strand of the braid thru the bead, but that wouldn't look right.. I just have no idea what to do.
R Doobies honestly, from time to time, my beard is braided and I put in a bead. if you have trouble controlling your beard hair beyond that, I would suggest using a bears balm as well.
Ive never used any products on my beard other that shampoo, contitioner and coconut oil. I guess I'm not sure how a balm will help with keeping a bead on at the bottom. I braid all but the last inch or two. I guess I could push on a bead, then put on two or 3 clear bands and then push the bead down over those slightly.
R Doobies try braiding the whole thing and then slipping on the bead by itself first. you won't need anything else. For keeping your beard down and more tame, use the balm, it's basically just stay in conditioner and I'll be talking about that this coming Monday
That will happen. I'm not sure if it happened to me in this video or another one, but it does happen and can be frustrating (especially if you're tired, this is the third attempt and now you're running late ~ not that I've been in that situation a few dozen times). The best remedy for this can be to keep the end of your beard both twisted and wrapped as tightly as possible and do not let go of the hair till the bead is already over some of the hair. You may also be using a bead that is too small for your beard. The hole should be about 1/8" in diameter or larger. Any smaller and you could run into that problem, like trying to thread a piece of thread through a needle with too small of an eye. Are you using any product in your beard and is your beard dry or wet?
I'm thinking the hole might be too small. I'll have to widen it. Beard is dry. No product use. Also I'm not sure my beard has grown big enough for this. It's only about 2 inches length.
Give it another inch. You should be able to twist your beard into a tapered cone. Try either lightly wetting the beard, only lightly, as it will help keep the strands together. Think of running a thread between your lips before trying to thread a needle. Product will also help with this, a medium to heavy hold beard balm would make this whole task a lot more easy. Of course, I advocate using my products but in reality and decent brand will do and I have a video on here as to how and why to use that as well.
Why not? What is manly is taking care of yourself and keeping yourself looking presentable however you see fit. Find a style that works for you and enjoy it.
There's not many showers when you're on a 4 day hike or a 3 day kayak trip... lol Besides, in order to keep your skin, hair and beard healthy, you should only shower ever other or every third day unless you have a job that gets you exceedingly dirty or sweaty. The soap depletes the oils in your skin. Over showering will cause your skin to become dry and flakey and your hair will be brittle.

How long would you recommend the beard's/goatee's length be before you can bead it like this videos?
FreshIceColdBeer it all depends on how much hair you have and how tight you can twist it. For my face and type of hair, I need around 3" minimum.
Have you tried Jack Sparrow style dual braids?
I'm growing a goatee, and something like this thing shown on the video is easier to do on a daily basis.

+Knightsmith Yeah, that would be cool man. Thanks 🍻
First, many thanks for your video. I'm new to this and would like to know what are the dimensions of the beads you are using?
They are all different. However, they are more or less 5/8" tall 3/8" in diameter and have a 1/8" hole.
That's not a beard bro, It seems your Goat T is very wispy, is this the way it's always been or is it because your pulling hairs by binding it in the bead?

Lol
Still waiting to see the beard
Tried it 5 times now. The string just keeps coming unraveled.
Okay. Let's troubleshoot this. At which point does the string come unraveled?
When it gets to the end of the hair and more when I try to butt the bead up against it.
That will happen. I'm not sure if it happened to me in this video or another one, but it does happen and can be frustrating (especially if you're tired, this is the third attempt and now you're running late ~ not that I've been in that situation a few dozen times).
