I got into the tripods with prs shooting a few years back. Used a few buddies and finally got myself a leofoto carbon fiber one. Thing is a beast. They are fantastic for all kinds of situations
I’d think the only thing/s you might not have is the versatility as well as mounting options. I mean, camera tripods don’t go and you’re not generally able to go as low prone as seen in the still photo for the video.
The 29 is a very sturdy platform. I would certainly use this in the field. If your rifle is a big mamma-jamma or if your shots are beyond 1000 yards, then the 32 will provide that extra edge of stability.
I have one of the ares spotters and have been very happy with it. I only wish they would have came out with reticle option other than their 22x one they had. Sad to see it go.
My own RFR build is almost complete Kyle! Midway had a sale on scopes so I picked up the Athlon Helos 2-12 Brownells has a sale on the PRS Lite. I've already had my Faxon 20" 6Arc barrel for a while. It's working great.
@@SocialRegressive PRS Lite arrived today! With everything together my rig weighs 10 pounds (suppressor included because I will not be shooting without it). If I was picking a rifle to shoot off-hand, I would choose another in my cabinet. That said, it would work if I needed it to. Most of my shooting will be done prone or from a tripod, with the RFR. I think I would make different choices on scope, stock and barrel if off-hand was a big priority.
I have several survey tripods .From light weight aluminum to heavy large head wood. Is there a 5/8-11 thread gimbal that doesn't ball tilt. A horizontal and vertical lock and slow motion. That can hold the weight if a target rifle?
That's strange that you've had issues with the sunwayfoto mlok gear? I've 10-15 of their mlock/Arca rails and no issues with fitment on any of them. What rail was having issues?
Man,if I did that in my back yard I’d have the cops over in no time if any neighbors saw me. lol :/ You’ve got a few with a good view. In the end, I wouldn’t even want o advertise in my neighborhood. But thank you for yet another thorough review.
That's a good question that I should pose to athlon. Depending on what the materials are, it may actually increase friction. I'll report back with what they say.
It blows me away how underrated this channel is! So many Gun Lovers are missing out!
Well thanks, Boogity!
I agree. He always gives well planned and thought out reviews and recommendations on stuff.

How well would a good sturdy camera tripod work? I already have one and was wondering if I can use it instead of getting one specifically for hunting.
A solid camera tripod will work perfectly, especially with a heavy fluid head.

What is the camera and mount on the spotting scope?
It's the Tactacam Spotter LR. It can take still pics or record video. I use it all the time.
Seems like it would be awesome for a ground blind situation.
Would you say this one is sturdy enough for holding on somewhat longer distance targets when shooting or would you choose the Midas 32 over the 29?

good review as always. I had a guy tell me Sunday shooting from a tripod was cheating when I was hammering the small plate at 640 with a 223 🙄
Howdy, CT! What bullets were you using?

Your rig sounds perfect. Great barrel choice. How does it feel offhand?

You're welcome, Robert! I hope the video helped.

A horizontal and vertical lock and slow motion.

I own the Midas 36. I really like it. I just need to get a gun clamp so I can use it with some non Arca railed guns
Would you let us all know what clamp you choose? I've tried a few, but I'm not a connoisseur yet.

My neighbors are used to me by now. 🤪
would it be worth while oiling the ball head to reduce those static friction spots?

Is the ball head strong enough to hold a 12lb rifle?
Yes. This one maxes out at 25 pounds if I remember correctly.
Is there a tri pod with a 1913 adaptor?
