This episode of RIO's "How To" series, is bought to you by RIO ambassador Phil Rowley. In this film Phil talks about the various retrieves that work well when fly fishing in a lake - breaking down the retrieves by length, speed, cadence and the pause between each pull. Phil talks about how to differ the retrieves according to fly style being fished - whether a bait fish pattern or a natural swimming insect.
If you enjoy fly fishing in lakes for trout but don’t have a high success rate, varying your retrieves will drastically change your success, and ensure you catch a lot more fish.

Thank you! I’ve caught many fish on a regular strip retrieve, but definitely want to learn the hand twist and the 2 handed. I practice or fish almost every day so this is going to be added in immediately.👍 Thank you again, I appreciate the tips! 🎣
Thanks Phil!

The pinky guiding the line on the reel?.. WHAT? How is that working?
You use the pinky to guide the line back onto the reel. Let the line travel over the pink while you move your pinky side to side to ensure your line is stacking on the reel in a uniform manner
Good god. You going to fish or play with the dang fishing line?
Are you imitating a snail
great vid
