Thank you so much. There has been so much removed from women's voices in the past that any remnant is appreciated, especially since I understand the extensive academic background you contribute to all these lectures.

Great video, dear Arith. You look also a bit better, and I hope it will be more and more like that.
You gave me some food for thoughts...I wonder, and I'd like to know your opinion about that, if it would be a good idea to celebrate a Dísablot the 25th of November, when it's celebrated the day against violence on women, and if it could be useful to invite Thrudr there...
    Have a great time!

The disablot as you describe it made me think of the Bacchanalia and their roles in fate, death, magic and fertility. The Thyrsus, a spear with a blade hidden by pine cones (as if the cones were the blade), is a tool for fertility and death. Thurs, in my opinion, comes from this as it is not only Ymir's penis but also the blade that killed him (like "live by the sword, die by the sword") and wielded by "Ansuz above him." Similarly, Thiazi seems to derive from Thiassi, a Greek religious cult of wisdom (see Thiassoi of Theos Hypsistos and the "Iranianization" of the bosporus), and is a mythical cycle related to Etana in Mesopotamia and Indra stealing Soma in India. I recall a saga where a Christian priest (I think) was highly offended by the feminine cult that used a petrified horse penis in "ecstatic" ways, which reminds me of the Isis cult that used a horse penis as an alternate for Osiris in order to conceive Horus. I think this Egyptian myth describes the coming of the Horse culture to Egypt when the Osiris cult was possibly losing power to the Sethian cult. I've often seen the horse cult tied to the eagle cult, which was a long enemy of the serpent cult and bull cult. The same theme seems to be in the Etana myth that describes the eagle/serpent struggle that is also depicted in Indian spiritual poetry. Serpent and Bull cults appear to be sensual/sensational, thus fertility from early on, and the horse and eagle appear to be more warrior and mental as in having a ruling impetus. The fight between the mind and body is the first war of the worlds...inside ourselves first, then playing out in our social networks.
I hope detailing my thoughts wasn't too much of a distraction from the topic. I really value your videos, thank you.

I absolutely loved this deep dive into Thrud. I always enjoy how you are able to use historic knowledge to tease out at least plausible if not probable ways that things tie together. On an unrelated note, I often wonder how much Indo European language/mythology bleeds into other cultures that have been cut off from the more germanic language trunk for thousands of years. Case in point, Celtic mythology (and many would call her more Irish than Celtic) has the goddess The Morrigan. The name, depending on how spell and accent it, can me "Great Queen", "Phantom Queen" and "Nightmare Queen". She's associated with ravens, prophecy, battle-magic, choosing the dead, shape shifting etc. In many ways, she sounds similar to a Valkyrie or even Thrud, but she certainly has a lot of attributes of Mara.
I find it so fascinating how many of these stories are so similar to one another. I mean, they are clearly different and have been twisted to fit the times from which they spring up, but it's fun to pull the thread and at least speculate. After all, so much of this is forever lost to time. So much of that CANNOT be known. But I like to think that if there are elder gods and Others out there, even remembering the shadows of their past must at least be somewhat pleasing that the whispers of their deeds can never truly be buried.
As always, thank you so very much for you work.

I am a new listener to your channel, I just started today. I do enjoy listening to you describe my God's and Goddesses!! The only complaint I have is the word Mythology when being used with a very old belief!! I live in America where most worship the Christian God, and I worship the Old God's!! Wouldn't it be fair to say Christian Mythology since Christianity is only a couple thousand years old!!

I personally don't hold Dísirblót during Winternights, but usually on the second full moon after Jul, ie one full moon prior to Sigrblót. I also do not incorporate any solstices in my belief system, they form part of Celtic and Wiccan belief systems.

What are the differences between Thor & Donar?

    • @Allegory_of_Wolves
      @Allegory_of_Wolves 10 месяцев назад +2

There is none, except for these names coming from two different languages, where they had evolved differently. In Germany (where I live) Donar was the name for the god Thor. Nowadays, we call him Thor here as well, but traditionally, in the area that's now Germany, he would have been called Donar in the past. Donner is the German word for Thunder, and Donar was it's spelling in the very past. It's a similar thing with Odin, who used to be called Wotan or Wodan in the German area (I say area, because throughout history, the borders have changed, and it would have been the Germanic tribes who used these names and words, and not limited to what we now know as the country Germany). So, essentially just a different spelling, but the same deities. I hope, that helps. 😊

So aesir is norse eiru 'storms/gods'
Baal is a generic name for the Old Gods who take a human form, not a specific dude.
Baldur is Thir, Lirr, Horus, Neptune, Poseidon, etc the Mardok ('undying').
    Na hAl leena
the angel little = the little angels.
You should learn enochian, it would give you insights into the origins of the pagan faith.
Luki is currently calling himself Sleip and Mask. It is the time of Ragnarok.
Morrigan is irish mora. The nightmare creatures are called Isacu and are vampires.
Where are the bhaalkari now, what happened to them?
F is Odin, lan : hands
Every 9k years Luki tries to start Ragnarok. The undying is reborn as a human. Somewhere along the way he joins with the tree of life and regains his 'godhood'. Unfortunately it is part of the script that to defeat the Underworld he must sacrifice himself. Until one day he is Amun the Sum of Sums, 3 of 3, bloodline of the 9. Only Amun can permanently slay the gay black budgie who dresses like a genie (Luki 'shining soul' the Moloch) and replace him.
Ka ri 'royal serpents' males look like wingless griffons, birdmen.
Females have wings for arms, glowing red eyes, covered in white downey fur and claws for feet. Harpies.
Valkari are Bhaalkari, kari belonging to the Baal sunbull 'Rager', possibly all dead.
You're the Thoth I needed a year ago, think I may have fucked this ley (cycle/season/ring) already.
On the plus-side Odin and Freya are to be reborn as immortal humans, soon as the Eye finds them.
