The CONCACAF champions cup is the North American version of the champions league. It’s had many different names and formats, but it has been played every year since 1962. The countries with clubs that are eligible to play in the tournament are Mexico, Canada, United States, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Martinique, Trinidad and Tobago, and Suriname. Haiti was also eligible to participate before they shut their league down in 2020 and never started it back up. Currently the tournament is the biggest it’s ever been starting this year. 27 clubs are participating this year and the prize money is roughly, the same as the Europa conference league, which is five times the highest it’s ever been.

The second leg is on Wednesday in Florida. Away goals is the tiebreaker… So if the aggregate ends tied, Nashville will have to score at least two goals on the road. It’s archaic that we still use that rule over here but… They want to avoid extra time if possible. The only way we go to extra time is it the aggregate across two legs and level and both teams have the same away goals.

There will be a second leg, and away goals are the tie breaker, so that last goal put miami in a good spot for the home leg. Also, winning this tournament gets them into the expanded club world cup next year. Not as important probably for european clubs, but its important exposure for all the other clubs around the world. Lastly, they just signed a young midfielder that is the son of a Madrid legend that fans are excited about.

We were one of the first leagues to introduce VAR. Also miami has terrible defense and they tire easily. All offense no defense. They are not unbeatable
