As a nation’s worst fears began to be realized, a legend emerged.
As the Russian military invaded the land and skies of Ukraine, one brave fighter pilot launched from his base just south of the capital city of Kyiv, knowing he faced superior numbers and firepower.
His ground controller gave him range and bearing, and he replied with the information on his radar. Once confirmed, the controller transmitted, “That’s your bandit.”
At that point, the fighter pilot ruthlessly pursued his prey, with only one outcome in mind: victory.
When he inevitably ran out of gas or weapons he certainly landed and refueled and rearmed.
By the end of the day, word had it that he had downed 2 SU-35s, 1 SU-27, 1 MiG 29, and 2 SU-25s - six Russian aircraft bent on wreaking havoc on his Ukrainian homeland.
He had become an ace in a day, the first in Europe since World War II.
Russian fighter pilots labeled him the “Ghost of Kiev,” and today they fear him while the freedom-loving people of Ukraine cheer him and place their hopes for peace in his cockpit.
Godspeed, Ghost of Kyiv. And happy hunting.

The both sides have contradictory news. I read both versions in Russian. Russian media reports that all soldiers of that island surrendered and still alive. In fact I am surprised of the lack of video recordings, when everyone carries a phone today. I have only seen 30 second snippets of some smoke and fire from far away.

Not to dismiss the seriousness of the situation, but the story surrounding 'The Ghost Of Kyiv' reminded me of the player's character arc from the video game 'Ace Combat 04'.

Since the Ukraine doesn't have any Su-35s... you get the idea. One thing is certain, anyway - the invasion doesn't go as easy as Putin thought it would. If Kiev doesn't fall this weekend, there might be hope. Anyway, they definitely need help from outside, not just cheering their heroic resistance. I heard that when he ran out of rockets, he came out of the cockpit in the air and then shot down 6 more planes with a gun. Reliable information. There is also a video of that event.
It wasn't a regular gun either, it shot frozen ice bullets that he separated from the fuselage and miraculously moulded into aerodynamic projectiles. They say it was only because of the altitude that made this possible (and it being winter). .

Like literally every military event, there's going to be DCS and ARMA footage. But there was some real footage back when the ghost first popped up. I personally believe the *original* ghost is real, and only got the kills attributed on the first day, but the claims were then wildly blown out of proportion and it is no longer realistic whatsoever.

@@elfather3889 The footage was made 'in honor' of the fighter pilot, anybody saying its THE footage has just copy/pasted it from somewhere w/o knowlege. If he is real, footage/picture of him will appear by the end of the war, as of now him (like snipers etc.) Indentities and charasteristics are carefully kept to not make him their goal
