  • The master of the slide guitar, #Roy Rogers, performing the song "Dust My Broom" , live, at The Stone on Broadway in San Francisco on March 30th 1985!!! The players are, the outstanding Mike Osborn on guitar, wild man Larry Hamilton on bass, solid as a rock Tim Richards on drums, and myself, Jeff Vash on the B3 Hammond!!!! This video was taken by a house videographer from one side of the stage, and recorded on VHS, so the quality isn't quite there, but you can still hear see and feel the blues oozing from this piece! And a very special thank you goes out to my friend, Ron Combs, for making this night happen, AND for finding this footage after looking for almost three decades!!!! ENJOY!!!!

Roy Rogers - I’ve been following him since the 80s. He’s a national treasure. I’ve seen him in concert a few times. Does so much with such simple equipment. He does use a pedal for a chorus effect now and then, but lots of times it’s just an acoustic guitar on a mike or a piezo pickup with a slide and excellent fingers.
      Tone is in the hands!

Cool to see Roy Rogers playing at an earlier show. Most of the YT vids have been 2001-2017 or so. You can see how his playing expanded a little since '85, and it was terrific then. Thanks for posting this.

Loved The Stone and the Keystone Berkeley and Palo Alto. There used to be a lot of cool clubs for live music.

      Jon!
Yes, in the day….there were quite a few clubs and halls that catered to live music! We…..Bay Rum….used to be regulars at The Hill, The Cabaret, The Omni, Niles Station, The Concord Palace, all of the Keystones, and pretty much any hole in the wall that would let us plug in and would kick down a brewski or two!!!😏
