- Welcome back everyone. In today's video I go fishing in the backcountry for Tarpon. This trip takes place two weeks after hurricane Ian. I hope everyone stayed safe during the storm and I pray for those who were less fortunate. If you enjoyed the video leave a thumbs up and consider subscribing for future content like this! im in south fort myers on Estero Bay and while we had 8ft of water downstairs, many were much less fortunate and lost everything. thanks for the sick content brotha
Awesome job, stay safe!
Glad y’all are safe! Another banger video man! Gotta love ‘em back water tarpons! 🙌
Love hate relationship with these juve tarpon! 😅
I know exactly where you are lol. I won't spoil the secret. My buddy and I used to fish the exact same area when we had Gheenoes. There's some ABSOLUTE monsters when you reach the connecting points between the bigger bays in the back and creek mouths flowing into the bays on the incoming.
It's a great area to fish! Just waiting for some more rain to get it fired up.
Tough to see, it reminds me f hurricane Maria back in Puerto Rico 2017. Glad you are ok!
Great job! Glad you were safe during Ian- it was a bruiser of a storm
Thanks! Definitely caught us off guard.
Good to see the backwaters survived Ian somewhat. I’m heading down Nov. 1 for the winter and will be fishing Estero Bay Area. Can’t wait to get back on the mangrove backwaters. Glad to see it’s not littered with debris. Great video.
This is cool asf.
Great Video as always. I am glad you are making videos again for the Gheenoe LT-25 Community and inshore Micro-Skiff anglers. Hopefully this month I will get my LT-25 from Custom Gheenoe and I will join you as another LT-25 inshore angler. Thank you.
Awsome to hear you’ll be joining the Gheenoe family!
Nice job Erick, I fished one of those spots yesterday. It's Tarpon city back there!!! Fyi...be careful of the 12-13' resident Gator on the east side!
Thanks for the heads up! I honestly have not seen any gators back there.
Sick video! When I'm using soft plastic flukes for tarpon I rig them with a CPS ring and circle hook through the nose, hookup and landing percentage goes way up! You can get away with lighter leader and smaller hooks than you would expect too.
I’ll have to give that method a try! Thanks for the tips 🙌🏻
I'm in Naples the beach fishing is off the chain I'm doing beach clean up n I've got 2 legal redfish n 1 legal snook so far
That’s awesome! There must be a good amount of bait on the beaches.
Beaches are loaded with glass minnows
How stable do you feel the LT25 is? Looking to get one, but concerned about 2 big guys in that boat.
I find the lt25 super stable. I’ve never felt like I was going to flip it. Im only 5’6 and weigh 180.
How are the ramps down in naples/goodland?
I believe most ramps are up and running as usual.
How do you tell that it’s tarpon you’re seeing in the water? Is it that they come up really quickly? How would I not mistake it with mullet or something else that comes to the surface?
The water was super clear that day and I could see them just swimming. Their shape is very different than a mullet. It really does help to have a good pair of polarized sunglasses.
@@10kerick they’re a lot skinner from the top view right?
Great video what size Nasci is that and what rod is it on
Thanks man! The Nasci is a 2500 paired with a 6’6 TFO Professional.
@@10kerick holy moly the camera makes it look bigger I thought y’all would have been using bigger stuff cause the tarpon go nuts,we pretty much use the same,I use Nasci 3000 size for reds and trout here in south Louisiana,we have caught some bulls on those little reels and they do great, best reel for 100 bucks shimano knocked that one out the park, glad y’all made it through storm ok,make more videos!!
That Nasci is the best $100 reel I’ve ever used!
Let me know what your favorite juvenile Tarpon lure is down below!
Hey I know you fish out in the Everglades a lot and so do I. Try the 3 inch storm wild eye swim shad. They are money.
I’ll have to give them a try!
zman scented jerk shadz wiith a chinlock hook alll day. nice video bro!!
I’ll have to give that a try!
