Thank you for the recommendations. I was planning on Angelina Paris but after seeing the line to enter, hearing the lackluster review, I will go to La Jacobine instead. The thickness rich flavor, and presentation won me over.😍
I love Colleen's face when she enjoyed the chocolate! She looks like a little girl about to do some mischief :D Thanks for this video! Certainly some hidden gems here that I'll be sure to visit when I get to travel to Paris again. Hugs from Chile.
Thank you, Colleen & Antoine! Paris has been my dream forever, but as a poor bookseller in San Francisco, it was never going to happen. Guess what? I won a trip to Paris in a sweepstakes, and I fly two months from today!
I am devouring your wonderful videos, and this may be my favorite yet. We'll be staying in the Latin Quarter and Marais/Bastille, so most of these places will be walking distance. I hope to hit them all!
I've got two weeks in France, with most in Paris, and a side trip to see friends in Brittany in the middle. So, if you've been thinking about a Brittany video, I encourage you to bring it out soon! 😁. Meanwhile, I am taking careful notes on all sides of your recommendations. Merci!!
Hope you had a great time🤗
How was it?😍
You are both very kind. Truthfully, I think it was the best two weeks of my life! I am 55, and I have been dreaming of Paris forever. But it turns out that my imagination was not up for the task. It could not picture how truly beautiful Paris is! Everywhere I looked, I was entranced! And with two weeks in France, I really had time to see all the highlights, as well as days for just wandering.
I don't know that I will ever have the good fortune to return, but I feel so grateful for this trip. I will be thinking back on it forever.
Thanks for asking, and happy New Year!
@@susantunis3928 amazing! Happy New Year!🤗🥳
Coming to paris in early June. Your recommendations and videos have been so packed with info. Instead of being worried I now feel confident in where and how to go, eat, etc!
How's the experience??! 😄
Angelina is my all time favorite❤️ Nice to see other options as well. Thanks!
Hot chocolate and pastries. What a way to start the morning!
I just discovered your videos and they're such fun. I'm a senior hoping to travel to Paris but have been intimidated to travel on my own. You two are an inspiration. Have you ever considered doing day tours? Thank you.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Thanks for getting back to me. I appreciate your "distract-ability" 😄 I enjoy your videos. Cheers.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel An “easily distracted tour” would be perfect for me, lol!
Hi! Please don't be intimidated. Paris is delightful solo. I've now been to Paris 3 times solo, and never had a problem.
❤your videos!!!!
Try Patisserie Viennoise near The Luxembourg Gardens! They've been around since 1928. Very authentic, non-touristy.
Oooh thank you
We'll be in Paris in three weeks! Your guides have been invaluable to us in our planning! Thank you!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel We'll keep an eye out! We're huge fans!
This was the most necessary video EVER. Very cool to learn about the tucked away places - they have some of the best food! I love traditional hot chocolate and may need to make some now. As an aside, you walked by La Favorite Saint Paul (the restaurant with the pink flowers) and I have a photo of it on my wall! Your videos help me relive our trip to Paris and inspire our next one.
I love when Antoine shakes his hand when he eats or drinks something good! Cracks me up every time and I fully understand how good it must be😂😂😊
Another commenter described it as "finger conducting". 😆 you know it's good when Antoine finger conducts.
Guys, don't take me wrong, but .... I love you both! Sharing your fantastic food experiences in Paris you almost let me feel the taste of those amazing and delicious desserts you eat. Thank you so much!
If you guys managed to have all of this in one day, then kudos to you! 😅 This video makes me want to run back to Paris - sooo good! And even though we had a delightful lunch at La Jacobine (thanks to you) and had the best onion soup and the duck, we were just to full for dessert, obviously unfortunately. But that only means we have to go back there next time! Thank you for your delicious video!
The same thing happened to us! No room for dessert after that delicious onion soup and for me, cheesy ravioli! We also had to get over to the Seine for our boat ride. We are definitely going back for some hot chocolate next time. I miss Paris!
They said "on another day".
My heart couldn’t handle all that in one day. I wonder how many energy drinks that equals.
listen well, they use to say "the next day"
Awesome video filming, thanks for sharing😍😊👍💕
My mother and I ate at La Jacobine today and they certainly do have the best hot chocolate! 😍 Everything else on their menu is delicious too. Thank you for the recommendation!
Gosh, what a gift to find your channel! As a 50-something American Francophile hoping to relocate by my retirement (and visiting Paris this late March + looking for the best hot chocolate), this was soooo fun! Thank you for sharing your joy + intel. Just subscribed.
I just found your channel yesterday and I love it!! I can’t wait to visit my favorite city again soon!❤
Colleen and Antoine , I really appreciate the work you put into these videos. Coming back to Paris for my third time soon and will use your helpful tips.
Thank you- I cannot wait to visit some of these places!!!!
Awesome! Been waiting for you to do a best hot chocolate vid. Thanks for the recommendations will be traveling to Paris in may.
Great idea for a video! Next time I'm there in winter, I'm definitely checking these places out.
Thank you for the truthful review of Angelina
Merci boucoup! I have had chocolate chaud at Berthillon, Angelina and Laduree. Berthillon salon de the is of course delightful. Especially if you end up sharing a table with a delightful elder Parisian lady who wants to chat. Laduree on the Champs is, well, on the Champs. With regard to Angelina, I was very lucky. I was at Versailles on a non-busy day (one school tour and a few other small groups - amazing) and headed into Angelina to avoid said school group for a bit. I was one fo five people, and I think I lucked out in that because the service and food/drink were very good.
I look forward to trying all of your recommendations :) If you're ever in Toronto I can point you to a few good places. Cheers!
(Colleen, I adore your facial expressions and you're about to bite into a treat)
My wife and I have been watching all of your videos in preparation of staying in a Paris for a few weeks. We just arrived and talk about so many things you've pointed out to us and we have learned. Thank you and hope we see you out on the town!
Thank you for these videos. We will be in Paris in May and I have been watching them for all the inside info you offer.
Thank you so much!
I loved the background music. This is a great video! My wife and and I are Paris and France lovers! I'm the chocolate lover. Thanks for the quick journey through our favorite city. Twice to France/Paris last year for us. I'm sure we will be there this year too so we can try out these places.
I had Angelina's about ten years ago and don't recall it been crowded. But I will definitely try the others on my next trip. What a scrumptious, wonderful video !
Hi guys, awesome video. I definitely wrote some of those places down. I love chocolate. I eat it everyday lol. The pastries looked to beautiful to eat hahaha. You two sure have fun, great to see. I look forward to seeing your next video. Viva la France. 🇫🇷 as always have a good one eh!😁🇨🇦
Love your vids❤ I can’t wait to try these when I visit again next year… I want all the chocolate!
French food is my favorite on the planet and I'm completely jealous of your Paris visit!!!
Merciiiii!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful video. I love chocolate.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Yes, hehehe. 😁
You both are so sweet .! Travelling to Paris in March & can't wait to try all the places you shared :)
I love how when Antoine and Collen react to their food, they're so happy like little kids when they eat something delicious.
You guys are so dope! Happy New Year!
Just found you both and I'm an instant subscriber. Lovely video. I want to join and try these delicious things now.
Love all you videos..Great info on Paris ..Can’t wait to go back to Paris ..I have to say that 20 years ago my husband took me to Paris and to Angelina..After reading so much about Paris this was the one place I wanted to go and have the famous hot chocolate "L'Africain"..,When they brought the hot chocolate I cried…For me it’s a incredible memory…

Really glad I found this channel. I wanna travel solo and these spots seem like they're right my alley.
Thank you for your tour of great places to go...So, nice, yes, I love hot chocolate, chocolate bars and desserts.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel The both of you give me some places to go to when I come back there to Paris, France. I do miss being there.
Thank you for this video. I'm glad to know that I don't need to waste my time in line at Angelina's. I hope La Jacobine still have that almond/pistachio/raspberry dessert when I finally get to Paris. I'll be dreaming about it and the hot chocolate for months.
That hot chocolate looks delicious. 😋 l can't wait to visit. The dessert is so scrumptious looking. Thanks for sharing your video. 🙏💞🙏
Hello,
My 3 picks agreed with all the top 3 chosen by Colleen. Thank you so much for introducing Le Loir dans la Théière. I once visited there for cakes but did not know about their amazing chocolate. Light and tasty, my cup of tea/chocolate is the one I will keep going back to. Jacobine chocolate was also impressive, but I prefer the airiness of Le Loir dans la Théière. Thank you again for the information. Your video enriches my life in Paris. Of course, I am subscribed.
☕️🍪My trip to Paris is soon, can't wait to try authentic Parisian chocolate. Your recommendations are the best!
As an American missing France soooo much, I really enjoy your videos more than others I see. Glad I found you!
Wow nice video! I have been to Paris many many times and it is always about the coffee. I never even thought to have hot chocolate there but will try it next time.
Bonjour. Great video for a winter day😊
We are so excited to be going to Paris for the first time in March for my 48 bday. And guess where we are staying! Hotel Da Vinci after we watched your video. We truly appreciate all the logistical and helpful information delivered with such warmth and charm. Now we are adding hot chocolate to the list ✅
Thank you for including the version for we lactose intolerant. Love you guys!
Great episode! I had hot chocolate every morning when we went to Paris in November. So good!!
I am travelling to Paris soon for the first time. Your videos have helped me to plan this upcoming stay. Thank you for the tips especially this video. I love hot chocolate ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you ❤❤❤
gotta try it the next time I'm back in Paris. Thanks guys!
I was in Paris in October ‘22 & had hot chocolate at a cafe on Rue Cler, Cafe Central I believe-it was a life altering experience! Very rich & unlike what we get here in the U.S., not too hot. I hope to check out your list in the not too distant future!
It’s so hot here ( about 32 degrees celsius) & I’m drooling over hot chocolate! Also I’m making notes for my trip there in April!!😋
This all looks so yummy. I was drooling over the raspberry and pistachio tart - oh my word- together with the chocolate it must have been divine. Best hot choc ever was in a little cafe in Menton, away from the tourist area as the sun was beginning to lose its intense heat. I always think about it and wonder why I didn’t have more! (It came in a silver pot and we didn’t empty it!). 💕
Thanks for this. The only chocolat chaud I've ever had was at Angelina, and it was the best I'd ever had. Looking forward to trying the other places when I get back to Paris later this year.
Same, though my son (who loves trashy hot choc from the supermarket) wasn't a fan - and he was the reason we went!! 😄😄🇬🇧🇯🇲
The best thing in life is to enjoy eating great delicious food with someone you love. Thanks for sharing. ❤
Oh my goodness! Chocolate and desert heaven. I am living vicariously through your videos. Lol
I just started watching your channel again after a years break. Holy smokes! You guys have really found your voice. Congrats.
Wow, truly a delicious video!! I know Angelina's does, but do the other cafes serve hot chocolate year round?
Many thanks for taking us all on your amazing adventures!
I love hot chocolate! Thanks for this video, it is very helpful! 🥰
I really enjoy your videos, and particularly loved this one. I made a point to visit several of the establishments you recommended, and the chocolate was absolutely stunning.
My trouble is that I look forward to breakfast of a croissant, fresh orange juice, and hot chocolate. So I was incredibly excited to be able to try your recommendations for breakfast, since I have been very disappointed with the hot chocolate I have found for breakfast in Paris (it seems to be a thinner, creamier style rather than my preference for thick and dark which I find in many other places in France, as well as at your recommended cafés).
Unfortunately, I discovered that your recommendations opened a bit later in the day. So… any recommendations for hot chocolate for breakfast in some of the major tourist arrondissements? (For my part, that would be the 5th (or nearby in the 6th).
Très splendide et jolie information culturelle du week end
This video was super helpful thank you. I’m going to Paris in December and was going to go to Angelina’s just because of the hype but this has made me re think thank you.
Your video literally just popped up. Being a foodie I couldn’t resist watching! Now I’m going to go make some hot chocolate!
Marci
So yummy! 😉
J'adore le chocolat chaud européen. Merci beaucoup pour les conseils !
Waouh 👍 j'adore ❤️
last monday i was in Paris. we drank a hot chocolate at A Lacroix at Notre Dame. Really recommended!! Although I think you're done with hot chocolate 😝 Thanks for the video 🙏🏻
Delicious…. 👍😋
Ouah! Délicieuse... love you guys. You'll receive the RUclips 100K subbies award plaque by Summertime!
I'll be in Paris in March. As a hot chocolate lover, I really appreciate this video! Thanks!
@@LesFrenchiesTravel Certainly!
These videos of yours make me miss Paris 💕
Not usually in Paris when cooler so wine suffices. Now, if I get there@Dec...I have 5 choices....all delicious. Thank you again
The Cyril Lignac Le Tigré is an awesome pastry and I did LOVE their hot chocolate. However, my very favorite I found in Leon where I went to Bernachon where I had the best hot chocolate in my life!
Hopefully our Airbnb holds up. It’s down the street from La Jacobine. Can’t wait! ☕️🍫🥐
We went to Jacobine and their hot chocolate was the best! Their raspberry tart however, was just okay. I really liked their rhubarb crumble dessert!!
Traveling from Australia next Thursday!! We can’t wait to come back fat!!
Omg completely agree with your take on Angelina!! I was disappointed too
Wow! I don't have any good hot chocolate care near home. Guess I must make myself a cup tonight.
I wa watching this, and I couldn`t help I went to prepare a Hot Chocolate for me to continue watching, OMG all the desserts looks delicious.
Que couple tres sympa !
I lake
Yes, I usually stay there 7 days when I visit and then off to London. However, I always gain weight when i am there. Love Paris! It's hard to find a bad eatery/brasserie in that town. I have , luckily, eaten at some of those locations. Have you ever eaten at Chez Beber near St Germain...mainly Moroccan food. Ok, now I'm hungry!
Only thank you ❤️ I’m going to write these down so I can visit because I love hot chocolate 🍫. Would you ever do a video with the best bookstores ?
Morning thanks for replying back to me !! I’m a big reader I just want to know the best bookshops to visit the most unique or hidden gems. Maybe ones with really cool
Stationary.
You guys walked right past us on Rue Tardieu today and my wife literally screamed. Super embarrassing! We wound up having hot chocolate at Carette on Place du Tertre, though, and it was super fabulous. Thanks!
I’ve been to Angelina’s in Paris and the Angelina’s in New York Twice. The Angelina’s in NYC had a delicious Croque Monsieur.
Can't agree with you more-Angelina was a tremendous let down after standing in line and hoping for an experience that never materialized!!!! Very much appreciate your new recommendations-we'll definitely hit 2-3 of them in Spring '24. As a new subscriber I haven't had the chance to view your library of videos, but I'd really appreciate a hint or two around navigating the daily chalkboards, ordering etiquette, even a helpful French word or phrase that will assist with my clumsiness when attempting to converse with staff/waiters in French. Anything to smooth out the pain points when ordering would be great!!!
The second one it would be my favorite. I will go there for the hot chocolate next time when i will be in 😋 Paris!
Will try Cyril Lignac. I had Angelina and Carette but now can have excellent and refined artisan-made hot chocolate in Montreal.
Taking hot chocolate to a whole different level. Yum.
Haha, I remember years ago I went to Angelina, with my then-still young kids, and the waiter was so rude. I understood what he said and answered in French. And I heard my daughter whispering to my son, "I told you, Mom speaks French."😊I am often in Paris, but never went back there. Far too many tourists.😊💓💓
Hello, you are my travel heros! ❤ I have been in Paris in April and i was so exhited to try the hot chocolate and the raspberry pistachio tarte ❤ what should i say? Better than... 😂😂😂 thank you for your fantastic videos! I send you all the best from Austria! 😍
thanks for the video, I've only been Angelina among the shops you introduced~~~ not bad tho~~~ however my memorable one was in the left bank (totally forget the name and location lol), they served two cups, one was filled a layer of dark chocolate in it and the other one is hot milk, therefore you could pour the hot milk into the chocolate one to make your own taste of hot chocolate, yum yum yum~~~
@@LesFrenchiesTravel yeah, and let us know the place~~~ Merci~~
@@LesFrenchiesTravel I've heard Café des Anges and Le Voltigeur serve it this way on the Right Bank, but I don't know about the Left. A problem when you try to ask some Parisiens is that they get mixed up, what with the whipped cream in a separate pot and the pouring the hot chocolate into your own cup...they don't remember whether the hot milk was really separate or not!
Spain has very good hot chocolate and 50% the price. I am going to Paris in 3 weeks. Will test it out.
What a great review format. Definately you should create more. In my opinion, you could try croque monsieur, beef bourguignon or beef tartare. But thats my taste.
Tourist is they should look for those hidden gems. Less crowded and price is worth it.
Btw, picture at Angelina gets more likes then Jacobina :(
Went to Jacobine twice. Great chocolate chaud (and everything else too).
PLAK was great too, but sorta like taking a snort of chocolate-lacked coke.
Went to Le loir dans le Theiere. Not my favorite fluffiness but very good.
Cyril Lignac was also quite good, but Jacobine is my fave.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel And we're home and exhausted. :-) How about an episode on all the free or cheap music? We went to the organ recital at St. Eustace. Lovely.
@@LesFrenchiesTravel And the history of the Jewish quarter would be cool too. I loved it there.
Thank you for sharing! Angelina is really not an ideal place, totally agree
