Matty I am getting this for my van too. What I will do with it is to use the swing away and inside the box will be a 2000 watt generator in a damper box. This way I can vent away from van with the exaust. I can pull into an area like parking area and many times no one can see or hear it. I cut a hole in side of box for venting but use a 4 in duct inline fan to force air in and the fan is plugged into generator. This is for keeping the van inside cool so I can sleep. I bet it works for electric heater to eliminate moisture issue from propane units.
I need to pick up one of those swing out hitches. I have one of their bike racks, but can't open the back of my van (It's a lift up door) with the bikes on it. Good video. Thanks.
wow that is the greatest! i have 2 swing aways and dont care for either really. i used to carry jack stands and unhook so i could open back doors. that is so cool. i jhave a stay back 50 feet sticker on mine and they dont lol. So much storage there! thanks for sharing!
Just be careful coming off the curbs, with it behind you like that it can drag the ground coming off the curb and dips.....looks great, and it does look high enough to not drag unless it’s pretty bad of a dip etc.......
A pair of Fibreglass Flagpoles in the very back corners of the Rack will increase Visibility for the Blind Drivers behind you. Fluttering Flags always attract attention.
I was wondering what size cargo carrier do you have on there? Great info and so helpful. I will be ordering the swing away and wanted to know if a 60’ length by 24’ inch wide by 14’ high would work? Doing the same setup as you. If possible please let me know. Thank you so much
Glad you have more storage space. Question, if you don't mind. Why do you prefer the tote to open towards the driver's side? Think I'd prefer it opening towards the passenger side with the swing-away deployed. Appears that would be more convenient and private, when parked.
Hey Matty. I use the Stowaway swing away carrier arm so I have a curious question for you. You mentioned in a previous video that you wanted it to swing to the drivers side. Why is that? Looks great on the Matty Wagon!
Hey Mattie I haven't seen if you have a video on how you get your ebike around Have you seen any cargo carriers that can haul your bike and totes?? That is what I am looking for?? 👍
Did your van already have the receiver installed? I have been considering a swing away to hold my full size spare tire and my shower water container. My 1997 Ford Areostar has a lift back hatch.Trying to calculate total cost of parts and installation and determine if the back hatch will have enough space to open and close.
I just built this but found that the entire hitch ensemble wobbles and is loose at the swing-away and cargo hitch junction. And I can't tighten this because the swing away hitch receiver is not a standard receiver with a flared neck (in which case I could have just added a hitch tightened). How do you account for the crazy loose wobble? I'm afraid this will fall apart in me while I'm driving some bumpy roads.
Nice, Matty! So that black box is where you put your generator? If so, can you run the generator with the lid closed? It looked like you drilled a bunch of holes in the side of the black box. I might be mistaken.
The top of that box would make a great table top for outdoor cooking. Looks great
@@lauriemcewen7156 it was great I no longer own it
I recognized your Dad 's yard right away. Lucky you to have all your Dad's tools to use.
Happy Saturday Matty.
Looks good.
Your dad's place looks nice.
Sweet and enjoy
Looks Great! Glad to see the green grass! Safe travels....
When I saw the yard I was thinking Lily would love to run with buddy you’re ready to come to California with this box looks nice see you soon

Nice addition to the van, Matty. Makes it easier to access anything at the back doors!
Looking good my friend, Be Blessed Always
Nice install. Thank you for the video. Blessings in your days.
I like that it swings out to the drivers side, it will stick out in traffic when you have a flat on the interstate

What brands do you have, that you don't like?
Looks real nice, and lots of added storage.
Great idea, thanks for sharing.
I have a 1999 Express 1500, this is the carrier setup I’m planning. Thanks for the good info.
Looks good.
Cool cargo platform.....
Links to the swing away and the basket would have been so nice…..
Just be careful coming off the curbs, with it behind you like that it can drag the ground coming off the curb and dips.....looks great, and it does look high enough to not drag unless it’s pretty bad of a dip etc.......
I see that is the reason that Chrome put bigger rims on his van to stop the backside bottoming out.
That is awesome. I want one too,
"That's a nice scene, right there" lol. Yes it is!! Hopefully that extra weight won't be too hard on the gas mileage.
Happy Sunday Matty! I hope you're doing well and everything is good for you!
Nice addition!!

Why does your box have so many odd looking holes drilled into the side?

manufacture name and part numbers for the swing away, cargo carrier and storage box would have been helpful, otherwise nice video.
To be honest, I simply enjoyed your utter delight in the hitch, than the actual hitch.😉👏🏿
Good idea to have a swing away. Noticed the fan in the back window. What is the name of the fan cover and where did u get it?.
The Van and setup looks 👍
Great Idea!!!
Are you going to take your generator so you can run your portable air conditioner?
Nice addition
where was the source for the swing away? to the left is what I need.
Nice addition to your setup. What year and model is your GMC?
What's the weight capacity of the swingarm and where did you get it?
Hello
How much cost all that ? Are they available in Texas ? Thank you
Can you provide a link?

What kind of ac is in back glass

I carry it in the back of the van. I have a space between the back doors and the bed that it fits in once it's folded up
@@MattyVanHalenokay thanks 👍
Lol I should have watched the whole video before asking about the generator 😆
Could you give us a brand of a swing away hitch that you used.

*super cool*
Whats the swing called??
How much weight is the articulated arm designed for? Please help.
I'm not sure but their website kuat.com would have that info
good vid
Does it also block the view of the license plate?
I want a a/c window unit like yours. Who’s the manufacturer? Do tell
what brand?
Nice! Maybe you should consider wiring in some running lights like you would have on a trailer. Lots of idiot drivers out there! Happy Trails!
Matty is your Kurt swing out still holding up pretty good . I'm going to get one . And how long have yours ?
Yep kuat. Com
What’s the name of that hitch? That would work perfect for me!!
Kuat
How fast can you drive safely with this fully loaded? The warnings for the aluminum mounted rack says to stay below 55 MPH. Is this true?
No. Drive as fast as you want 👍
You Da' man!

Shims
@@MattyVanHalen thanks. Is that what you did? Shims?
250lb is not a lot but I like how it swings out
What brand is this?
Why did you want it to open on drivers side ?
Because the passenger side rear door opens first
Do you have a link to the platform?
Harbour freight 👍
@@MattyVanHalen Cool! I didn't think of that.
What’s the swing away name company of it?? Thanks
Kuat
Hey Matty! I was searching for a swing away hitch for my truck and ran across your video. That looks awesome. Where did you buy it from?
Kuat
Does anyone have ideas about how I can secure a cargo carrier so people won't take it?
Nice, Matty! So that black box is where you put your generator? If so, can you run the generator with the lid closed? It looked like you drilled a bunch of holes in the side of the black box. I might be mistaken.

NICE but slowly Not looking Stealth. ENJOY !!
Aren't you worried about theft? A knife can cut that box loose in seconds.
