I ordered the Yakima Backswing, had buyers remorse over price/cancelled, walked into REI a week later and they had a Yakima Back Swing for $99 in the garage sale section! New in the box only missing a 50 cent cotter pin....HUGE SCORE! It makes my Kuat NV 4 bike rack even more INSANELY HUGE but WAYYYY easier to manage to your point of tilting....impossible with 4 bikes.
That’s bonkers! Congrats! I hated the tilt on the rack what with getting impaled by the handlebars when lowering it or not being able to lift it fully loaded. I’m ok with the money I spent. I’d be ecstatic at $99!
Ouch $509 is hard to justify. I’m sure it’s a great product, I have the equip D double and absolutely love it. Definitely have the same problem of opening the gate with the rack attached. For now I’ll just keep sliding the back window of my 4runner down to put in groceries lol. Great job with the review didn’t even know this product existed till I saw your vid
Hey Nasser. Thanks for checking out the video. The cost is definitely difficult to swallow. I’m hoping it will last a LONG time and will help with my back and shoulder issues that lowering a tray type rack causes.
Thanks for doing the video. I've been shopping for a swing away hitch attachment and have considered this one for my Ram Promaster. I plan on adding a storage box on a hitch cargo carrier. I think you mentioned the doors cleared the RacAttach, but I would like to know if the back doors can be opened 90 degrees until they catch the hinge detent that holds them in place after you have completely opened the RacAttach. Been looking for a video showing that to see if the doors would open with a box sticking up behind the open door but can't find one. I may have seen one with the first RacAttach model but I think this new one has a shorter nonmoving arm. Based on the measurements provided on their website it looks to be really close (+ or - an inch or two). Do you think there is sufficient clearance?
Hey David - thanks for checking out the video and taking the time to comment. I can’t answer your question directly as I’m guessing the result will depend on precisely how far the rear doors actually open before reaching the detent and the length of the shank of the storage box. The RakAttach does swing a good amount out of the way and its not even close to hitting the bikes with my Yakima rack. Sorry I can’t be of more help. Best of luck.
That’s the way I used it. Otherwise the internal plate won’t pull snug against the hitch. My second pin stripped as well after using it last summer. Seems pretty softly made for such a rugged product.
Anyone using the RakAttach with Velocirax? 1Up and Velocirax both advise against this setup (I've spoken with each over the phone). I have a Ford Transit 350 with the Velocirax 7 and can't access the barn doors at all. I've tried an 8" hitch extender which doesn't improve barn door access enough to justify the rack sticking out that far. Currently have to unload the entire Velocirax to access the barn doors. Ugh. Also, 1Up has moved on to RakAttach 2.0 exclusively. Thoughts?
It’s pretty robust. As long as the weight of the motorbike and rack are in spec, i wouldnt have a big concern. It certain wouldnt take my CBR1000RR which is well over the rated weight. Thanks for checking out the video.

Great job. Answers all my questions
Thanks for the feedback - glad it was helpful!

The maximum load would be #3 bikes at 75 pounds each? If the bikes or ebikes are that heavy? I have 4 Superduty racks.
Hi. Can you clarify your question? Thanks.

The bikes are fairly low off the ground. Do you have issues with pebbles getting kicked up onto the carbon frames?
Hi. I’ve never had an issue with that.
I think my anti wobble was improperly machined as well. The bolt should thread all the way in so that the bolt head is snug against the hitch correct?
That’s the way I used it. Otherwise the internal plate won’t pull snug against the hitch.

Is the swivel 2 steel plates with square tube sandwiched in between?
That’s pretty much it with a large bolt as a pivot.
Hi do you think it could handle a motorcycle?

I'm looking at this for the same reason, hard to find good motorcycles lightweight enough though.
Is this the medium or large and why did you choose the size that you did?
We got the large for our Ford Expedition. We followed the sizing recommendations on 1UP’s website. Thanks for checking out the video.
1 want one
We bike for fun and exercise but can’t be bothered to manually open or close the gd hatch. Jesus h, we’re doomed.
Totally! Have fun!
Could you use this for a birdman 650 scooter? Please comment back and let me know thank you for this video
Thanks for checking out the video. The rack is rated for 275lb. The Burgman 650 is over 500lb dry so its too heavy for the rack. Best.
