Brilliant of NI to provide an update that supports 11 year old hardware. The update might be seen as a little light but shows intent and there will more features and support going forward. I encourage all mk3 owners to purchase this one, the more that do the better your mk3 controller’s future is.
Interesting point, and feel you overall get pretty good bang for buck with NI. Don't mind a small charge for long term support but do worry a lot of companies will follow this practice and it will get more greedy.
The only positive about this update is that NI is still issuing an update. But it clearly has stopped trying to compete, so there will be no new Maschine users coming onboard, with MPC and Ableton so far ahead. NI only wants to retain its current user base as long as possible, to keep getting more revenue from expansions and Komplete X.
I agree, it doesn't feel like a real version update, thankfully the upgrade price is reasonable but aside from that, really not much to talk about. Stem separation is the only feature worth mentioning in my opinion, and maybe the tempo change if you were waiting on that. I hope the 3.1, 3.2,.... and further updates will include more noteworthy things because right now I am also feeling underwhelmed, not disappointed just underwhelmed. I haven't been using Maschine that much anymore the last few months. I was hoping the 3.0 version would make me start using it more again. It didn't.
The support for Maschine Studio is appreciated. I got a Maschine Plus a couple years ago, but honestly, I'm ready to grab my Maschine Studio out of storage and fire it back up.
7:28 - The application is usually to join adjacent notes, not spread out ones like that. You can use Split to turn a note into several to make a hit-hat roll for example, and also use Join to do the opposite... Turn a roll into a note; Step sequencer style. 10:30 - Not sure what's up with MP4, but it might be that they only added support for a specific Codec, MP4 has several.

I have to learn the AKAI DAW again. I've been using Ableton Live 11and maschine 2.0 as a plugin in Ableton. I'm a sample based and MIDI keyboard producer
A great addition to this update would be to also make it so that you can work in Maschine inside a DAW without the clock being tied to the DAW. To be clear, I want to be able to toggle Maschin's sequencer off and on while in the DAW so that I can work on the patterns in Mashine without triggering the DAW. If there is already som way to do this can someone please enlighten me?

The one main thing I wanted was a way to set Projects to a certain key and everything you puts into that project. Would automatically be in key. It sounds easy. But having a computer do that. Maybe a lot of programming I don't know. But that. Would be awesome and save so much time Everything else so far should have came in a point upgrade like 2.9, 3.1 for instance. Waiting 10 years for this crazy.You'd think it would have been free.But thirty bucks is not bad at all.
They waited 10 years for the STEM SEPARATION that I got in a free update in the FL Studio DAW that I had to buy to supplement Maschine because Maschine doesn’t want to make a full DAW…. Make it make sense!!!!!

thanks Beau for the honest video, but we all see something in the decision process in NI is not going in good direction at all, I am so so disappointing with this new update Maschine3 they call it, like we though will be a massive new featureS, with everything that made Maschine2 software + hardwareS the best ecosystem ever +++ beginning to be a full daw, this is our expectation. so that you don't need logicPro or else. it should be with Maschine3 a full integration with the komplet Kontrol MK3, period with mind blowing stuff at least instead we got only Basic integration, I am very mad, and I guess it is not even update on the MK2 keyboard either. the new grapheme update is not great al all, I prefer Maschine2 grapheme(3D grapheme) is the best, and made Maschine2 more enjoyable I personally already hate the new look, it like LogicPro horrible, 2024 seriously the grapheme should be awesome like some plugin guitar got like neural dip software, or wave or longtime ago Output, or Arturia, anyway I am very mad and so disappointing I feel like I westing my time learned Maschine2 software hoping to be full daw in future, the clip audio update was massive great step in innovation, I got all hardwares(MK3, JAM, keyboard Mk2) so now to not be updating anymore, I gonna put back my energy on Logic Pro and Luna
It depends. When I travel sometimes I only take my Plus with me just to have fun making beats. It’s nice to jam as many sounds as possible on a little thumb drive. Like I do with some other samples. Not every project is meant to be “pro”. Sometimes it’s just a relaxing thing. :)
From what ive seen allready onder songs separate better like back when there was 4 and 8 track machines but songs made in actual daws have minor artifacts and small issues after seperation. Honestly I usually only sample older stuff anyways. So it works for me for now. Debating if itll replace serato sample tho.

Too little, too late. When Maschine first launched, the world took notice, especially Akai. 15 years later and it simply cannot keep up with MPC's development tempo which has become a superior platform IMO.
Agree with the performance effects , sp404mk2 kinda effects wouldn’t be wrong I really thought midi routing between vst would be implemented And 29 dollars isn’t much and I believe ni put the price at level with the tiny update . Personally I would pay let’s say 149 for example if they did a proper upgrade with all the bells n whistles.. Full comp with komplete K mk3 , new perf effects tape effects , dist reverb , delays etc, scalable Ui , upgrade the browser ( key bpm genre etc on samples ) MIDI routing between vsts timestretching overhaul in sampler etc Come on NI , this was very underwhelming.. after 10 years
Agree on the live performance effects. As makers of Traktor, The Finger and Guitar Rig, why not integrate those in Maschine (Plus)? That way you can show AKAI who's boss. Hey Beau, when you say that you are all about live performance, why doesn't it show in your videos? There are enough guys showing Maschine in their home studios, making beats - I am still waiting for the channel giving Maschine live performance tips!
Still no way of stopping scan every start up, this sucks takes so much time. Weirdly swear I've seen the option in library options and it disappears... I think

I think people expect Maschine software to compete with full fledged DAWs like Ableton Live, Logic and these. MY view is that it's a complement to DAWs. It offers Maschine workflow and essential manipulation of audio. For mixing, mastering and advanced features, it's better to integrate Maschine inside a DAW.
Agreed. NI is also playing to its strengths: composing/recording music with NI plugins. Not standalone/live performance. That area is dominated by others and the money NI would have to spend just to catch up to the market leaders is a poor investment that they likely wouldn’t get back (no new customers).
I would agree with that. That’s also how I utilize it as well. I think the main point was that numbered updates like a 3.0 typically have more substantial additions. Still, like I said in the video, it’s not a bad update. Just nothing crazy.
The problem is that they claimed it was going to be a generational software. It’s like being told you’re getting a meat lovers pizza but receive a vegan one instead lol
@ I didn’t see them claim that anywhere. Expectations are a tricky thing because they can make us mad when other people “fail” to deliver on something they never promised. Also, never underestimate the impact of small changes. I bought Cubase 14 yesterday largely because it fixed a longstanding problem: trying to reliably integrate hardware and hybrid recording/mixing. I had left for Studio One because it did that one thing much better. But now I’m going back to Cubase because I like the work flow better, and the better overall features. I think people need put the hot takes aside and think about how they use Maschine and how the changes will impact that use.

That’s why some people are underwhelmed including myself. There’s not 1 new feature that excites me. Might as well call it Maschine 2.19
Oh man... I have been waiting for a 3.0 update. in my mind I assumed that they were taking their sweet time because they were implementing a ton of new features and workflow updates. But they dropped the ball, this update offers me nothing of value. And I will not be updating. Nothing against the people working on the updates, but management that does not see that pissing of their userbase will hurt them in the long run.
Wow so disappointed, literally nothing new really, serato sampel is still better for stems separation and warping audio, bounce track literally old function, freeze track would be better, and no support for my old mk2 pushing me to akai mpc 3.
It’s not a feature I would use often, but some seem to really like it for sampling. It definitely needs more controls for fine tuning to make it reliable, for sure.
If they label something with a full release 3.0 , and after so much time… users have great expectations. Obviously! Not sure the product or NI gets many likes 🤔🥸

Just tap the "esc" key on your computers qwerty keyboard and it will stop the scan that happens when you start the Maschine software.

No mk3 integration is a joke. Mk3 is rubbish in 2 and 3.
