By alternating a charged sword attack with charged magic, you can do some serious AOE damage. The timing of this combo takes some practice. Stun damage is OP. You can stagger lock mini bosses by using Garuda's "Gouge" attack, have them hit half-stagger, then drag them to the ground for free damage. Use this opportunity to deal more stun damage for a full blown stagger. By the time the enemy finishes being staggered, Garuda's attacks will finish being charged and you can do the same thing again. The "Ignition" attack lets you zoom around the battlefield, snagging up multiple weak enemies. At the end, it explodes. It's perfect for one-shotting mobs and has a short cooldown. You can access your main map more quickly by pressing the touchpad to open your minimap, THEN pressing start. It loads faster and there's no scrolling through menus.
Yeah I played with it on. Tbh I don’t really find it too much of a cheat cause it doesn’t always activate. Plus by mid game I was dodging before it even was needed.
I love that ring, it's like adding a minigame to the fight. Idc if it's considering cheating as a grown ass man I play to have fun not break my TV from throwing my controller through it
Ok so I just want to point something out for the last hint on Philly's list here. Damage during the break phase. When you use the most powerful eikon abilities (the bottom one on each tree) time slows down. This means the stagger bar goes up much slower allowing you to get three off with almost no rise in it. But this does not slow down your limit break bar at all. Yes, the damage boost you get from limit break on abilities is good. But I've found it better to pop all your abilities and THEN pop your limit break. Also keep in mind that your combos in limit break are much longer and quicker adding even MORE damage. I rarely break 50K damage doing it the way he showed with a full 4 bars. But with my way I often get 70K to 80K. Maybe that's just me but I would honestly like to hear if anybody else finds the same.
Another tip: Crafting equipment costs more resources than upgrading already existing gear. This is good if you want to spend gil in place of upgrade resources, depending on your inventory
U forgot one thing. Going back to cleared area via stone give u significantly reduced XP. Game even tells u. So if u thought about grinding dont. There would be no point. Instead on whatever CURRENT dungeon or open area u are on, KILL EVERYTHING for the most XP
Clearly I was misunderstood. I was strictly talking about xp to level up not AP. And what's more going to past missions for less AP when u can grind bigger amounts of AP on a later stage seems pointless...in the beginning. But no judgement. Play it your way
Mini maps are usually on the upper right of the screen, not lower right. They could have put a mini map still. In rebirth the lower right was occupied as well. They still gave you a mini map in the upper right.
The tip where you respawned the enemies by travelling to the same location, it doesn't completely reload the map. That means the items on the ground do not respawn. But if you travel somewhere else and back, the items on the ground will respawn too. That way you can get the high-potion from Caer Norvent every run to stay on full health all the time if that's a location you want to farm, or if you just don't want to ever spend money on them again. Of course the cost of high-potions isn't really an issue later but during the first few hours of gameplay they might feel a little costly.
Here’s a good combat tip Ok change controller layout for this. You can charge magic while attacking with the sword so once your combo is finished release the magic attack and you’re good. You can do the same thing with the fire sword skill 👌
can someone tell me the reason why type C controls is supposedly the best? Is it mainly because magic is on the the left hand and attacking is on the right?
It's really annoying when you say, THIS IS THE BEST WAY, and not explain the reason WHY it is good. I already know from experience that the reason why this is good is because you use both hands, but it'd be useful for you to simply say it in the video. Content like that makes wish I could downvote the video 1000 times.
Used the timely focus ring for play through one, decided against it for FF mode ng+….my advice, dont use the timely rings…ANY of them, focus and evasion lovk you out of parries for the most part, which is a useful mechanic, also you wont know the dodge timing or enemies moves…particularly dragoons gave me a hard time to figure out. The healing one is ok but you’ll wanna learn to use the dpad manually for like str and def potions strategically, same with torgal you can get much more out of him when you utilize his attacks manually, and dont use timely strikes, unless you absolutely suck at fast paced games and are on story mode, (one excuse is like exp/ap gridning ill allow that) thats not bashing anyone who DOES suck thats okay, I’m no DMC or Ninja Gaiden pro but these will only hinder you the more you use them, and i mean how boring is it to mash square, auto heal, auto command, auto combo, auto dodge and spam nukes to win…the combat system is so much fun and you can be super creative with it, but you have to learn it, like fighting games you can make up combos and stuff but not until you learn the basics and with those rings you never will. Cheers
Damn i miss the mini map, it surprised me a lot to find that they didn’t include one. It’s probably my biggest gripe so far because I like to scour the area and make sure I’ve looked everywhere I can. The game is a lot of fun despite things like this though, so don’t get it twisted haha.
Another quick tip always buy stronger weapons from Charon and don’t craft them because you will use one of your few boss crafting materials in crafting it and not have enough in order to upgrade the weapon or accessories
I picked Type D control, but now I see we often have to hold Attack to release a powerful blow, and also hold Magik for a powerful blast... so D is not the best for that.
My take on the controller do what fits your style. Whatever feels comfortable to your game style. I am default because it's how I learned and it's second nature to me. Changing it would ruin my game play.
I didn't know this. I've done a lot of grinding in this game, which really isn't necessary compared to other FF Games. I was avoiding killing the wild chocobos. My biggest question is, what's the difference going back and replaying an area through the Obelisk, or just going there in the map and re-killing all the enemy's. I'm at the point where the ether is allover the land, and the stones you find in the wild are activated. But I've never used the Obelisk at the hideaway to train. Do you get any points or anything for doing that?
@atcguy2007 no, obelisk just respawns all the enemies, thus you can keep farming blue chocobos. There's a spot with like 4 or 5 of them pretty close to obelisk. So say 4x50 that's 200ap in like 3-4 min. Repeat and you'll have all skills maxed out in few hours
The best way I found to farm is what's considered the dungeon area's. Battle all the way to just before the end. Then teleport out and back again. U will have to fight everything all over and u still get the experience just as before plus u learn the moves of the enemies so u can save urself money on not having to buy potions and stuff
When it comes to potions, I wish we could actually have more in the list I mean I know there’s an upgrade, but you would think you should be able to upgrade more to hold more
It would be nice if we could use some of those replays that we had in the first run through in FF mode but no I would’ve loved to of gone after weapons that I didn’t realize were in areas I missed
Great video. The changing of the controller layout was great advice. It takes some getting use to. I'd like the ability button to have three prompts instead of two.
Pokémon, then, tears of the Kingdom, and now, Final Fantasy 16!? I really think you are stalking my playlist lol Great content as always, thanks for pointing out the dead end chest thing. I’m not super far in, but I have some backtracking to do.
Pro tip is. Explore, conduct main and side quest together, plus hunts as they come. Play the game like a master. This is the way. Dont need these tutorials (edit) Tips* UNLESS trying to find specific locations.
Ill be honest im not really a fan of the combat. It starts off fun but then quickly feels repetitive. I keep hoping ill reach a new part of the story that unlocks more combos
Additional Tip: You can actually grind even at the beginning of the game during your very first mission (The Greatwood). Here’s what you have to do: 1. Start the quest and defeat all enemies Just before you enter the boss Arena. 2. Save Your Progress then teleport back to the hideaway, click confirm (even if it says “You’ll lose your progress when you teleport back”.) 3. You’ll be able to re-run that area from the start including the respawn of all the monsters you’ll encounter. You’ll be able retain and gain all the EXP, Gil and items you’ve obtain from your first run again and again. 4. Repeat the process as long as you like. Don’t forget to save. 5. Grind infinitely! You’ll reach a higher level Just by after finishing your first mission. In fact, you can even reach level 30 just by repeating the process. Hope this helps to all the grinders out there.😊 hehe!
@@BlackGoatsEgg I tried doing it before the fight with the Armadillo in the greatwood just for the trial if it works because i think in Final Fantasy 7: Remake, there was also an area to which monsters respawns infinitely during the early game. i’ve kinda thought maybe it has the same gameplay with DMC to which you can actually replay a mission or an area over and over again before you progress further in order to obtain exp for grinding early and ta-da! my theory was right, you can actually grind by doing it in early game.
Final Fantasy 16 is the easiest final fantasy game that I have ever played. You don't need anything apart for 3 items. One is counter necklaces, this item pauses the game when someone is about to hit you so you have time to press R1 to counter, this is huge and basically its the only think you need in ff16 and basically its like a cheat. The second is CP 40%, and the third is EP 30%. Add all these three items. I've completed the game twice and new dlc and earned a platinum trophy after 120 hours.
I agree ff16 is the easiest FF ever but why would you use the counter necklaces ? Of course the game is easy if you use the free items which are made to erase any difficulties. All the necklaces (auto combo, auto dodge,...) serve as easy mode
Alright as an early player I cannot watch the rest of this video. Dude like all these clips are late game when you’re kitted out with cool new abilities. I’d love the video but I can’t watch this

This is a great game but it's a horrible final fantasy game. It's not even final fantasy at all other than the name. Yeah I like the game overall, but you're right about it lacking really FF elements. The fun stuff like buffs and debuffs and even the summons are what I was looking forward to.
I can't stand any of the controller layouts they have. They should have done way more than just three. None of them make any sense to me LOL I guess I'm going to have to get used to one of them though
It looks like Sharon, but it's pronounced Karen. The whole game is based on original spelling and pronunciation from hundreds of years ago. Also, DO NOT buy every gear item from her, that is a waste of Gil and completely unnecessary as you will find items, or even craft them from Blackthorne, that will be better most of the time...especially swords!
What Early Game tips did I miss? 😮
By alternating a charged sword attack with charged magic, you can do some serious AOE damage. The timing of this combo takes some practice.

The ring of timely focus makes combat feel better for me. Something about that slowdown and hitting R1 just feels fun.
Yeah I played with it on. Tbh I don’t really find it too much of a cheat cause it doesn’t always activate. Plus by mid game I was dodging before it even was needed.
I agree with you.. I feel like it should have been an ability you could opt to learn or not? IMO. And save the item slots for extra xp or Gil etc.
It's for people's that find it hard to dodge, not good a timing or noobs.
I love that ring, it's like adding a minigame to the fight. Idc if it's considering cheating as a grown ass man I play to have fun not break my TV from throwing my controller through it
Plus it's fun equipping ring of berserker with it and watch the flames burn

I called Charon as Sharon too when I first saw it…but it’s pronounced Karen…they say it in the game more than enough 🤣.
Ive played every available minute and only managed 23 hours.

Mini maps are usually on the upper right of the screen, not lower right.
They could have put a mini map still. In rebirth the lower right was occupied as well. They still gave you a mini map in the upper right.
i also thought the controls on type A was weird at first but i tried and i got really used to the controls so i just stuck with them
I'm using type B and have remapped circle to l1 so I can dodge exactly like I did in Elden Ring and really it's been comfy so far.

Also, DO NOT buy every gear item from her, that is a waste of Gil and completely unnecessary as you will find items, or even craft them from Blackthorne, that will be better most of the time...especially swords!
Well, that was... Weird. 🤣
Type B all day
