I really want to thank you for doing the comparisons between the 7610 and the 101. It was your comparisons that caused me to buy the 101 and not the 7610. There are very few ham RUclipsrs that have both. Before watching your videos I was leaning towards the 7610. I'm glad I bought the 101!!! Robert K5TPC
Hi,interesting video, I have the Icom 7610 so I am biased,,,,,it seems quite apparent, all the icoms 7300,,,,7610 have far superior modulation, the menus are more intuitive, the scope on your yaesu is irritating, the spikes and peaks on the waterfall is headache central, no averaging control,the colour's on the display looks weak,,menus over complicated, so many software updates, almost as if the product was rushed out,,,,and for the icing on the cake,,,,,,you pay way more money for the Yaesu,,,,if you're happy with that,,,,good luck,,,,,,73s from Rotterdam.

I have had both… GUI on the Icom much better. Also now has DPD which is only available before on the Anan radios.. also horrible spikey panadaptor.. many, including me have asked for display averaging. It must be possible to do in firmware, but Yaesu are so arrogant the won’t offer it as a setup option.. last of all… what the hell is the 3d display option, looks like a 1980’s video game..😂😂 Also, please remember that you need to be able to operate both radios well to be able to do comparison.. 7610 is fully SDR so RF gain is not as effective as attenuator in improving signal to noise.. I do have an FT710 and find its amazing for it price, but only use as portable.. 73 Suggest you watch Bob Naggy if you want a comparison before you buy. 🤔 Just checked, FM repeaters work fine..!,
hello, very good explanation, I have a question if I wanted to connect my MFJ 962E External antenna Tuner is it possible either to the radio or the FPS 101 speaker power supply? or would I have to get an external power supply? many Thanks in advance
I have the ftdx101d, and like it. I have to say though that I hate the ergonomics on the 101. The buttons are presented in a contour fashion and hard to get to. I have to search around still, (I have large hands lol).... and I've had the rig for as couple of years now. I agree that the 101 is superior in many ways, but I like the Kenwood and/or Icom ergonomics a lot better. The 101's screen looks like an arcade game (yuck)...but will admit the 7610 seems like a glorified 7300 (I've had that one before). Would sell and go with the 890 but it doesn't have dual receive. 73 de Scott W1AL
