    I use to do this with jazz records…. I’d make the beat and if the beat need a horn or some type of ensemble I’d just let the record play along side the beat until I heard something that *popped out* it’s a cool technique if you have the time like that! Lol.

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  6 месяцев назад +2

      That's interesting 🤔 so you already had other instrumentation with harmony or melodic parts and would look for more this way...using the pitch on the Turntable to get the right key?

    • @knowEgo
      @knowEgo 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@LiftedNoise yes I would essentially have the beat done…drums, main melody, bass line and sometimes vocals and I would grab a true jazz record maybe some Miles Davis or John Coltrane and just let the record play underneath my beat until I heard something that matched my beat. The cool thing about jazz is they rarely stick to a tempo or key…it constantly changes so you don’t have to adjust your beat just wait for something the match. That’s why I say if you have the time it’s a good technique because it does take time. But it really balances out because to find something that stands out you probably need to listen to the entire record anyway!
      Note: just to anyway reading I would normally just hunt for a quick sound…nothing I need to loop, just a horn stab or string instrument hit something like that!!!

      ruclips.net/video/IJP3D_0Tzi8/видео.htmlsi=FP1qF4_ujzQIrIKf I made this video on the MPC but it's not real time while listening to a record. I don't think there would a tap tempo for beat matching with the MPC unless ofcourse you use warp, but I don't like the sound of that.

    Do you sample straight from the PT01 and do you ever find that the PT01 sounds thin?

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  6 месяцев назад +1

      I do sample straight in from the pt. I don't think it sounds thin. I've always used these portable turntables though. Never really had anything more high end.

    When you were tapping for the drum tempo how come you don't use the auto tempo detect?

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  6 месяцев назад +1

      I never put my full trust in auto detect in any machine. I feel like part of the issue is that you need real precise loops to get an accurate tempo. Ofcourse for the Vinyl portion of this tap tempo is necessary for this technique But I'll try it now that you mention it. Is it accurate for you?

    • @DJ.MC.0B
      @DJ.MC.0B 6 месяцев назад

      @@LiftedNoise I still have to experiment with it but I'm going to try tap tempo.
      That's why I was asking you since you use it.
      Just curious on how other peeps use the MK2.
      Appreciate it man, thanks! keep the beats going!

    is there a trick for finding Looppoints?

    • @LiftedNoise
      @LiftedNoise  6 месяцев назад

      Hmm 🤔 loop points of loops or what exactly? Basically, count to 4 beats, and that's a 1 bar loop do that 2x for a 2 bar loop x4 for a 4 bar loop 8x for an 8 bar loop x16 for a 16 bar loop.. there are other time signatures that counting to 4 won't work for bur 4/4 time signatures are most common.

    Damn this is so unintuitive and unmusical, untatctile with all that button pushing and menu diving, i think i'd rather play drums or guitar. Actually i do play guitar and wanted to get into electronic music but its so much preparation and programming, not making music, strumming strings or hitting a key or drum.
