      I'd be indecisive as to put them on the back wall, though I've no idea of the shape of it as it's not visible in the video. I imagine back wall, big TV, turn couch. In Summer, open glass doors and let the music out! Though some times I'd like to sit and listen facing out, so maybe save up for 4 Klipschorns. Surround sound!

      No, it's not. Why do people buy expensive high end gear like that and put it in a room that's not in the least made for listening? Because they're show- offs and don't really know how to use/place/treat it.
      In this room, paying a few thousand Dollars less on other equipment would sound the same, qualitywise.
      Nice song, though. :-)

    These speakers were decades ahead of there time...they are still the Holly grail in my opinion.
    My father was in the industry and said Paul Klipsch was born to build speakers that were second to none and that his talent was a gift to all that love music.
    Sol Marantz was another..and his early amps are what I first heard these very very special speakers on... tears, chills ..PURE & BEAITIFUL !

    I have watched many of these super high end audio videos on YT and this is the first time one has included a gorgeous system actually being demonstrated with decent music! And music that extracts the best from the assembled components. Normally it seems Audiophiles have extravagant taste in equipment but utterly dire taste in music!

      I thought I was the only one who thought that, too. I'm not owning any $100000 equipment, but I test my headphones with a good head amp, lossless player,
      and if they headphones don't sound good with Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here, or Steely Dan, or Rush, Dark Side of the Moon, or Beethoven, I return 'em. I try to test
      stuff with albums that are recorded really well, but that's also what I consider to be actual good music. Some of these guys play the worst imaginable dross.

    I heard the Klipschorns in a night club in Pittsburgh around 1985. I could not even believe the volume they were achieving. And the bass kicked hard in the chest. I was really amazed. So, I went over to the DJ at the club and asked, "Is all that sound coming from just those two speakers or are there other speakers operating also?" He said, "Everything you're hearing is just from those 2 speakers right there?" He was pointing to the Klipschorns.

    Great comments .. All over the place from kudos to critiques. I think the room is beautiful. And someone that cares about music.. That's enough for me these days. Every room becomes part of the instrument. If you want dead, buy a pair of headphones. Headphones will help you achieve the flatness that some of you need. I love it when people want to fill a space with music. If the space is bright, it should sound so. the audiophile crowd is always about "referencing" the sound. And that's very important in instances of engineering, but some just need to fill there space. Its as much a visual experience as it is aurally. Its called character. These are original Klipschorns, respect. My bag is large Arnie Nudel inspired Infinities.

      there is no accurate. Most records aren't mixed flat. live music isn't flat. Even instruments and gear vary. British guitar amps like Marshall and Vox have a punchy midrangey sound. American amps like Fender and Mesa/Boogie are more V shaped. So which is really "accurate". Audiophile think it's neutral but nope. Klipsch seems to realize this and doesn't even try to go for neutral.

    When i listen to discern quality I pick out the parts to the instruments and hear how distinct they are. I first listen for the nylon tip of a drum stick tapping the ride cymbal and pan around to the snare maybe a rim shot ( was it realistic or muddy?). Can I hear the chop from the strumming of the pick on an electric guitar or acoustic? Thump from the bass drum. Breath from the vocals, depth and space between musicians. This stuff tells me the audio equipment has the power to reveal and contrast at such a depth greater than my crappy equipment. The room is setup and used to expose or isolate to my liking and the speakers follow standards of positioning ( normally followed) as well as positioning additional speakers to provide spatial depth according to my music collection requirements such as orchestral vs quartet or stadium rock / live etc. I am no audiophile but that's how I listen.

    Wow, I'm a Soul Man and I love what I'm hearing. By the way, Soul is dead today, I don't hear that word much. I have this CD by Eric Clapton. This sounds so good coming to my small Klipsch computer speakers. wow, I can't imagine, maybe I could, how they sound therein person. Let me get my credit card ready. :)

    The Klipschorn has been my favorite for over half century. It really is living *inside* the speaker, because the room walls themselves are a part of the bass horn enclosure.
    In the right room they are perfect.

      Yea with such a beautiful, live sounding setup. This setup has A LOT of class and taste. Wouldn't change a thing. On the hunt for Klipschorns, though can't complain with Lascalas. Just need Klipschorns.

    Interesting bases to put the Klipschorns into for that glass wall! That's novel. I wanted a pair of those back when someone offered me a showroom pair for "only" $4,100 but didn't take the offer because I didn't really have a good pair of corners like they need. Now I realize I could have made one or two of those corner reflectors to solve the problem until I moved into a place that did have appropriate corners. Darn, and only 20 years too late too.

      You could have done the poverty route and ended up with a measly pair of LaScalas! They're still a dream of mine..

    • @AndyBHome
      @AndyBHome 5 лет назад +2

      I know - it's funny to think of the LaScala as "the poverty route" because they are such great speakers. But in a way, compared to the Klipschorns, everything else, even the LaScala, does seem like at least a bit of a compromise. It's actually pretty amazing what a good value the Klipsch top of the line speakers were until very recently. Now they are priced more in line with the competition - or at least it seems that way to me.

    • @Oldbmwr100rs
      @Oldbmwr100rs 5 лет назад +1

      La Scalas are amazingly powerful and loud quite on their own, the K horn's were pretty specialized TBH and more sensitive to placement and environment. The (slightly) smaller la Scala was more than enough for most people's homes. And what's with all the huge wattage amplifiers? Klipsch speakers were made for old systems with hardly 15 watt amps, 100 watt systems would make it uncomfortable to even be in the same room with! I'm not even sure if they still make their old speakers, do they?

    • @AndyBHome
      @AndyBHome 5 лет назад +1

      @@Oldbmwr100rs what they make from their earlier lineup is now called the Heritage Series. You can see those models on their website and they are still made in their Arkansas factory, as opposed to their current mainstream line which is made in China and really completely different from the type of speakers that made them famous.

    • @AndyBHome
      @AndyBHome 5 лет назад +1

      Yes also so true about the finicky placement of the KHorns. You really need the right room for those or you aren't really utilizing them right. I just love the accurate low bass they produce with such low wattage amplification. The LaScallas are close - they are great, but they don't go quite as low down. And yes the solid state powerhouses are really unnecessary on either of those, but then again solid state needs to have higher absolute power handling capabilities (peak wattage) to match tubes in some ways. More power is always better of course, but it seems that with transistors you need more peak power capacity to avoid clipping, whereas overloading tubes doesn't produce that kind of unpleasant distortion. Overloaded tubes certainly drop bass response, but that's not much of a problem with the traditional giant Klipsch models.
