*UPDATE!* 69043 transferred over to Great Yarmouth during April 2021, and now one month on it’s been withdrawn from service! Four of the batch of thirteen that came from Sheffield are now off fleet.
Hadn't realized you'd filmed this beast! Had it myself for the first time the other day on an essential 15a journey, and should have a (lower quality) video coming soon. The one SF55 I can actually tolerate.
Yeah it’s not too bad this one! 69022 was half decent as well actually but that’s gone to the coast now. The gearbox is ridiculous! Bit disappointed that none of these have kickdown
Heap, sounds like it’s not far off wanting a gearbox and a diff to me that! It’s not a squeaking chassis, it’s a common thing on RLEs and is generally a reaction rod (tie bars that hold the rear axle in place) because the bushes in them wear. I’ve also seen them before when tie bars have broken or bolts have sheered/come out and it can be very messy
Think it’s safe to describe all SF55’s as heaps. They’ve clearly been knackered by their old owners up North and won’t be much better looked after down here. Seems to also be a poorly specced batch. In comparison to the KX05’s and MX05’s, heck even the AU05’s seem in better condition than these!
They came from Sheffield’s Olive Grove depot, thirteen of them, a few have it remaining above the door, others have small purple stickers displaying Olive Grove on the side

Yes, 69031. I went on it as I’m staying in Catton, not too bad but 69043 is certainly better
